The Official (Mostly) Literotica April Fool's Day Contest Support Thread!!!

So...if its been allowed the last twenty years and all of a sudden it changes and people who have had their stories approved who will now be getting them rejected for no reason-in their eyes-and of course this will all be their fault, not the sites, right?
I haven't been around as long as you to see the changes, but I look at it like car evolution. Yes, you can keep driving your classic with no brakes, a spear for a steering wheel column and plate glass windows, but anything new has to comply with the current rules.

It would be nice to know what the latest is, though.

I've been around for almost 20 years and really nothing has changed, when I started the forums were the land of the wide open craziness and the stories were considered LITerature and I remember folks complaining about the rules. They were told in no uncertain terms, "If you want that stuff, go to ASSTR." The rules still apply and you're in luck, asstr is up this week, and they uploaded a new file last month.

Lets do a fun little analogy. Your boss has been overwhelmed with work for the past few weeks. He finally catches up with work and he sees his office staff has started taking 120 minute lunch hours and he said, "Stop that, you know the rules."

It happens.

Meanwhile Lit "We don't allow rape stories!"

Also Lit allows titles like this

https://www.literotica.com/s/i-want-to-get-raped

So...stories get rejected for "I THOUGHT about her when I was 16"

But the word rape-something they have a rule against-flies through in titles and tag lines.

In another thread Bobbybrandt is bragging about their story with a gang rape and torture until death scene being approved.

So you defenders of the faith will have to excuse me for having the disdain I have for the 'rules' and enforcement of them here.

I know the reason for this, its obvious, but for those willingly oblivious-and the fact it will just get deleted for being the truth, I won't bother.

Good luck in the contest everyone. I'll be back to congratulate the winners.

Well, "April Fools Daddy" indeed published 7 hours ago.

And a 3.84 star rating.

What that tells me so far is either it's just too short to earn a 5, or some readers got pissed at the ending lol.

Guess we'll see if it improves any over the coming days.

I'm sorry, in a story website with a "Non-Consensual" category, where did you find a rule against "rape"? Here's the rules, please tell me if I'm missing something and I'll post a correction to my entry.

AND SO IT BEGINS!
Welcome to Day 1 of the April Fools Contest, we have a dozen entries up and 21 more days to go.

I know we're pretty worn out from shoveling driveways, chopping firewood, writing hundreds of 750 word
stories and other traditional winter activities. I have two stories that are in editing mode. Neither were originally
intended for this contest, in fact one was a 750-word story that I challenged myself to "inflate" and repurpose.
I think I'll be able to get that one submitted tonight.

If you're a beginner and have any questions, bring them here. We have a ton of experienced writers to help you.

Yeah I'm really not sure where the idea rape is supposedly not allowed came from.

I just submitted my story, about a man who gets a creepy guy kicked out of a hotel bar by security. Turns out that the creep was meeting a woman for a blind date so he just pretends he was the man she was supposed to meet.

I had a lot of fun writing it so I hope others enjoy it too :giggle:

Here's a thought. How about letting the Web site decide what stories it will host or not and if you think someone's gone over a Web site line, use the report button and let the Web site decide? And then, if you don't like how the Web site operates, find somewhere else to read/write your stories if you can't take responsibility for your own selection choices here. Beyond that, mind your own business and be happy that the Web site hosts what you write and provides you what you want to read--without sticking your nose up the butts of others the Web site is willing to host and bleeding your personal demands all over the discussion board.

And, yes, we're off on another contest. My initial entry, which suffered premature posting, was quickly put aright, including the views/votes/comments it already had accrued. Good luck, everyone. This is one of the tougher-theme contests.

Well, I got mine in in time. It went live with the first batch. "Surprise Video Chat" is a follow up story (though still stand alone) to Anniversary Gift.

I just popped in for a moment to say hi, and check in on things. The last 2 weeks have been rough. I've been moving..and in the middle of the move, I got very ill...but couldn't stop the move, as we had to be out by the 28th...so I pushed through..which only made me more ill...So for the next few days I'm taking it easy. We are fully moved. Not quite fully unpacked yet, but fully moved.

Hope you get a chance to read my story and see what Grant and Isabelle are up to now. :) I look forward to trying to read all of your stories as well.

OK. So, not bad results at all for the first 14 hours.

Lots of views, lots of votes, lots of comments, all positive.

And a 4 rating is more than respectable.

My guess at this point as to why it's not higher is the length. It's basically a one page quickie.

The other guess is the content; without spoilers, it may not be exactly what some were hoping for in an incest story.

I write for myself of course, but obviously there's always that hope that a contest entry might "win" me something, even if it's just a little recognition.

Although so far, every story I've ever written with a contest in mind has rated lower than my usual 😆.

I understand it's just Day One. But I'd assume to "win" I'd probably need a higher rating, and I don't know that it'll get there.

I can already see it's drawing some attention to my other stories so that's a "win" right there.

How's everyone else's stories doing? I gotta go read a few when I get a minute.

Yeah I'm really not sure where the idea rape is supposedly not allowed came from.
The rules can be misconstrued, one rule says thou shall not:
Ravishment, nonconsensual, dubiously consensual, or consensual-nonconsensual fantasies involving real-life people, groups/organizations, or copyrighted characters
That last bit can be overlooked or forgotten. Then there's
Ravishment/non-consent fantasies in which the “victim” receives no thrill or enjoyment from the acts, or is seriously and/or permanently physically harmed / abused / maimed / killed
The highlighted part can be forgotten.

My story is doing well so far! My rating is currently sitting around 4.65 but it's only been a few hours, so I fully expect that to drop down before the end of the submission period.

But I'm really happy with what I wrote, and that's what matters to me!

The Blind Date Switch

I suspect Laurel feels she needs to tighten the reins. What's been allowed over the last 20 years won't pass today.
To your point:

"My girlfriend at the time was waiting for marriage besides I wasn't going to give up a quick fuck in the back of my truck on the premise that we were getting married anytime soon. Hell, I was 16 and would have fucked a chipmunk if it was cute enough."

(From "The Internet Fucked up my Life", posted in 2012.)

I never bragged about that scene or any of the numerous scenes in my stories with underage characters.

I have always simply stated that writers should consider the context of their words and scenes when they face a rejection to see if there was some other way that they could communicate their message without breaking the rules.

I encourage creativity, not criminality, and point out that it has worked for myself and many other writers here.

Your statement was that you were breaking the rules but its okay because there's 'context' You also said you wouldn't link it. That tells the class you were afraid to do so because someone might report it, which I wouldn't do because I'm from the old school snitches get stitches mentality, that and its not my job to police the site because the owners aren't doing it.

My point here is if I were you, I wouldn't be on a pedestal about stories on here that shouldn't be. I mean, after all, maybe some of these underage stories have 'context' to them, right?

The other reason I mentioned you is there is a glaring double standard here. Lit-and the people here-make such a squeal about material that in reality is not under age sex at all-but when it comes to rape, torture for titillation and abuse of women we get this "well, we should be able to write what we want' hmm...what's the difference? I know, its because the site knows those stories get a lot of clicks. This is fiction so to me they're stories and read or don't read them, I'm not debating the ramifications of them. What I am doing, for more times than I've lost count of is trying to get people to realize the rule is BS and to try and understand you're all running around looking like fools defending the indefensible.

In this thread Duliegh is now telling someone to ignore the non consent rule saying the part where it states "must enjoy it" can be ignored. That's encouraging rule breaking because its not the precious under age rule. And if people here really cared about that rule they'd point the finger of blame where it belongs, at the site and its lack of effort in moderating.

Now we get this rumor-because of course the site will never actually say what they're doing-that they're trying to go back and remove some shady stories. Which creates the issue that people who have always had their stories posted don't think they did anything wrong, and years later are now told they were. When that creates understandable confusion and angst, those people will be told by people here, like you, if you don't like it leave.

Back bone and this forum do not go hand in hand.

This is the last I'll say because this is a contest thread and this latest endless debate about under age sex and rules is jacking it.

Anyone wants to continue, I'm fine with discussing it via PM.

Small correction, duliegh was saying that someone might be under the mistaken impression that there was a rule against (any) rape, if that person read the rule he quoted but didn't notice, or forgot about, the qualifier, "unless they enjoy it". I had asked where anyone even got the idea there was a rule against rape, and he was explaining how someone might misread the rules to reach that impression.

Oh, give it a rest. Stories contrary to the rules get through because the through-put is so voluminous and the scrutiny time so limited. The Web site is responsible for that, yes, but it's a problem of too few resources put to the task, not some intentional two-faced policy. Stuff inevitably will slip through, not least because so much of it is situational. When/if you see it and if you delight in being a vigilante cop, push the report button. Otherwise mind your own business and let the Web site take care of its business and stop your conspiracy-theory yammerings.

The fact comments take hours-or longer-to show up now has taken some of the fun out of the 'opening day' of a contest story.

I suppose the flip side is that, if your story draws enough attention, you suddenly get hit with a bunch of replies all at once lol

What I don't understand is the number of these contests and events. They are clearly designed to promote writing and thus increase the number of stories posted to the site every day. But then the site can't deal with the flood of stories, so some stories don't get the proper visibility, as they get pushed down the list sometimes even on their first day. Besides, regular non-contest stories take an age to get published, because as we all know (well, we don't know, but we are guessing with some degree of certainty) it's just Laurel and her software dealing with the huge influx of stories. I mean, you can barely deal with the number of regular stories getting uploaded, yet now we have a contest or event every month that makes the waiting queues and the visibility a proper nightmare. Christmas, Valentine's Day, then this silly 750 words thing, April's Fool, Geek event... all in a couple of months.
My point is, either drop these events and contests, or bring more manpower (womanpower?) to the publishing bit. There is also the issue of comments taking such a long time to get published which kinda kills the whole dynamics of feedback which should be even more important in contests and events.
I apologize for the unrelated rant here, but six days in queue and still no publish date on sight is really going on my nerves.
On topic: If any of you posted a nice, subtle femdom story for this contest point me to it ;)

I agree that the submissions process here is understaffed and that that is fully on the Web site.

The number of unofficial contests and exercises have burgeoned within the last two years, so that's a new phenomenon. The only answer to that, barring the adding of submissions staff, would be the limiting of how many submissions of any kind an author could make in a set time period. I could see where it would have to come to that.

I also agree that the delay of posting comments on the stories has been a "solution" that has been worse than the problem it meant to solve.
