The Official (Mostly) Literotica April Fool's Day Contest Support Thread!!!

I might not get a Nude Day story done. I'm WELL into mine, but I feel it running out of steam and I no longer like where it's going.

Possibly because I don't like the characters. I think they need a shorter, simpler story, and my Nude Day tale is not simple.

There's On The Job due in April as well.
You’re right. I was emphasizing the contests (6/year) and now there are as many if not more ‘Events’. To keep up with all of these, one will need to crank out 300-500 words every day of the year in order to submit stories in the 4 - 5 page length. Plus the 750 word event, in which it takes far longer to write a decent story, IMO. I’ve learned I must pick and choose to keep from burning out.

You mean four or five Lit pages. I don't think I've ever done a story or chapter over three pages. A page and a half is typical. Maybe I'm succinct?

As soon as you finish it, you should start your Nude Day story. Deadline is in about 10 - 12 weeks or so. And don’t forget the Summer contest a couple of months later. And then Halloween…😅
Funnily enough, last year's Nude day story was written in similar circumstances. I had nothing as the contest opened, gave up, started playing around completely unrelated an idea about witches, did some research, read about them dancing for the moon goddess, thought 'Clad in Sky' was a good title and about a week later was in the middle of my daily walk when I said 'Fuck me, the nude day contest' and wrote the thing nonstop in a week.

It turned out to be one of my best stories.

The AI contest story that I wrote 3 months before the contest opened? Everyone though that sucked.

Anyway, after this one it's the Geek Day contest. I know what I'm doing for that one.

"Sky Clad" is wiccaspeak for Nude.

Last year I was watching an Anime that I just loved and as I finished it up I noted the one week notice for the Geek Pride event. I hammered out 31K words of fan fiction in less than a week, and two follow on chapters for a total of 84k words. My muse put in some overtime.

Well exactly. I was a bit slow having planned a story with that title (it eventually became 'A Veil of Sky') and having understood the nakedness of it all without quite making the connection that it was exactly what I'd been searching for the previous week.

WELCOME TO DAY 1️⃣0️⃣ OF SUBMISSIONS!
WE FINALLY MADE IT TO THE HALFWAY POINT
There's still plenty of time to get an entry in before the votes are tallied and the winners announced.
I hope I'm able to make it to [Lit] on the 30th, I plan to be at the Kennedy Space Center to watch the first launch of Terran 1 the first full size spacecraft built by a 3D printer. It should be able to lift a payload of 1.5 tons. There is a huge number of SpaceX launches scheduled also.

WELCOME TO DAY 1️⃣1️⃣ OF SUBMISSIONS!
WE NOW HAVE 4️⃣1️⃣ ENTRIES!

Has anyone received any "interesting" comments yet? I received one from a sad, sorry reader that was so upset with what happened in Saturday Morning that he quit reading before the joke was revealed and missed the joke entirely... or he has no sense of humor. He claims to be from England, the land that gave us Monty Python, Benny Hill, and Australia so he should have a sense of humor.

One released.
Two more to go.
The April Fools one is the hardest to write as I’m not very funny. This, I go for plot twists which I realize is the easy way out and seldom actually much of a twist.

Most of my comments on "April Fools Daddy" have been very positive , with everybody appreciating the twist and enjoying it.

Although without spoilers, a couple readers are like "this needs to continue, and have x, y, z happen."

That story will NOT continue, X, Y, and Z will never happen, because X, Y and Z were NEVER the point of it.

Co-authors... they're so needy! 🤣

You're doing a great job of pushing this thread and contest.

I understand the "I want more" mentality and even appreciate it; it means they really liked my story and characters.

But on this particular one (again, not giving the plot twist away) it should have been VERY obvious that what they thought might happen was DEFINITELY not happening.

And yet they still request for THAT to happen. 🤔

These are the people who are still fooled my M.Night Shyamalan movies

I look at it this way: The more I push the contest, the more entries I get.
The more entries there are, the harder it is to be hit with an uno-bomb.
I know I will never win; I just don't want to get bombed.

At one time the story line was to kill off a character in Chapter 11. As I breezed through Chapter 8, I saw the feedback and realized if I did kill her off there would be a desire to kill me off along with her. I had to get ahead of my "fan club." I'm just sayin' some of these folks take their favorite characters serious.

I really enjoyed the ending, and if THAT happened, it would piss all over the whole point of the story. I'm super glad you're sticking to your original vision.

Thanks. Most readers did get the ending.

But yeah, if I'd done, well...THAT, it wouldn't have been much of an April Fools story, would it?

Alright, I'm new here... What's an "uno-bomb"?

That's when someone votes on your story with a rating of a 1 - not because your story deserves a 1, they do it just to piss you off.
Okay, I'm certain that's happened to me, I just didn't know what it was called.

But how does additional entries prevent uno-bombing?

[EDIT]: Do you mean more viewers or more writers?

There's a action that the administrators take that delete the one bombs (Uno bombs, a play on Unibomber) we call this mysterious, glorious benevolent action by the site admins a "Sweep." Sweeps usually happen just before a contest reaches the end of its submission period which comes out to about 6 times a year. However, if you have a friend that is boosting your scores. those illegitimate 5 star votes can be wiped out too.

You need to keep track of your statistics to see when this happens

I'm glad that they have some means of detouring cheating, but how in the world can they determine the difference between legitimate 1* and 5* votes and fake ones?

Is it just based on averages? Guess work?

It's all hush-hush, no one knows for sure and some folks will get pretty upset if you talk about on the open forum.
