Reagan was in uniform during WW II, but was detailed to Hollywood. He never left the United States. He sometimes maintained that he had access to classified US Army footage of the concentration camps because of his film work during the war. But Cannon shows in the book linked that Gen. Eisenhower had ordered those reels shown in movie theaters in the US in 1945 and that they weren't secret or classified at all. So he was either a liar or delusional. Either should be of concern to those who try to paint him as a conservative icon.

The President lying about his actions at the end of WWII should be a big deal, especially when the story was recounted to the Israeli Prime Minister. The President lying (or worse being oblivious) about selling arms to Iran in order to fund rebels in South American should be a big deal. The President lying about WMDs to drag the US into a war in the Middle East should be a big deal.

A News anchor lying about something that happened while he was in a war zone? Not such a big fucking deal. He's lost credibility as a journalist, and very likely his job. At least he was actually IN the war zone and nothing he said caused anyone else to die.

I just have to say that American Sniper made me think of the tremendous stress on military personnel in those type of situations. I was a mess in the theater I can't imagine what I would be like if I had to walk a mile in their shoes. That is why I am so thankful for the courage of the men and women who serve in the armed forces. I am sure the things that happened would change a person if you had to live through it.

I ask you this: let's say that it's true what Kyle wrote about killing looters in New Orleans, people who were taking water and food to feed their families because the Republican run administration dropped the ball; so now we have a US sailor killing US civilians acting as judge, jury and executioner; how much of a hero is he?
