The upcoming Republican renaissance

The term "living document" has been misinterpreted in recent years. It is supposed to be living in the sense that it's changeable - not open to interpretation. Far too much time is spent trying to figure out what the founding fathers were trying to say. That almost always turnout to be a bad move. The Constitution is a document written in plain language and is quite easy to understand.

If anybody wants it changed they should try to get a new amendment ratified, there is only one right way and that's it.

You always find new and exciting ways to show me how stupid you are.

But, those are not the sort of "wild ass ideas" to alarm such as the militiamen. They do not threaten any encroachment on civil rights, surrendering American sovereignty to a New World Order, bringing in the UN black helicopters and FEMA extermination camps, etc., etc. In fact, they're actually rather tame compared to those of, say, FDR or LBJ.

:

Sorry! My mistake. It's obvious now that you don't know enough about the subject to carry on a conversation.

I think I know well enough what the "Patriot" assclowns say they're afraid of -- see here -- and Obama's "wild-ass ideas" portend nothing whatsoever along those lines. And who joins a militia to resist health-care reform?!

Independents are rushing to the right, disenfranchised by unkept promises and the rejection of socialism. Conservative registered voters are up by 6 percentage points.

Too much, too quick. Blinded by greed the dems are.

Watch and learn.

what I find funny, Socialism has yet to work but hey, let's try it in America :)

Really?

Most people consider the Scandanavian Nations to be somewhat "socialist", and a great successes,in real measurable terms such as standards of living, life expectancy, disposable incomes, etc.

Dangerous to use blanket statements like "socialism has yet to work."

Communism has failed. Socialism, not so much. In fact, the USA has been "socialist" since the 16th Amendment was ratified, if you want to use such strict interpretations of the term.

It is written in plain language, but the language is open to different interpretations. Consider the Eighth Amendment: "Excessive bail shall not be require, nor excessive fines imposed, nor cruel and unusual punishments inflicted."

What are "excessive bail," "excessive fines," or "cruel and unusual punishment?"

What is "freedom of speech?" I don't see the word "internet" in the Constitution anywhere, so freedom of speech doesn't apply here.

What about the right to bear arms? An atomic bomb is an "arm" so everyone should get one.

People who say the Constitution isn't a "living" document are ideologues who advance such a position just to be intellectual, because the document HAS to be read in light of advances in modern society. Yes, J. Scalia, I'm talking to you.

Yeah, well, you're obviously a dumbass and he's sort of at the other end of the bell-curve, so I doubt he heard you.

Democratic Lead in Party Identification at Highest Point in 25 Years

The upcoming Republican renaissance

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – March 3, 2009 – The Harris Poll ® has been tracking party identification for 40 years. We do this by combining all the relevant national polls to produce large samples and eliminate small survey-by-survey fluctuations. Our latest numbers are based on 15,210 interviews conducted by telephone between January and December 2008.

The results are bad news for the Republicans. The Democratic lead in party identification has widened to ten percentage points, compared to five points in President Bush’s first term in 2001, and three points in 2002. This is the first time since 1984 that the Democrats have held a double digit lead (and our latest data from two telephone surveys that are not included in these calculations because they were conducted in 2009 show an 11 and 12-point lead).

More bad news for the Republicans is that, for the first time since 1983, there are more Independents (31%) than Republicans (26%). This is the first time in 30 years (since 1979) that we have found so many Independents.

outside of vokda what has Scandanavian produced?

In the current political atmosphere, Barrack Obama is still personally popular (his approval rating is yet to dip below 50%, and his dissaproval rating peaked below 45%).

Congress is doing far worse. The people, on the whole, are displeased with congressional Democrats, roughly 40% approve, 50% dissaprove. However, they HATE congressional Republicans... 15% favorable, 70%(!) unfavorable.

I think it's a mistake for Republicans to assume the Tea Partiers are in their camp beyond "the enemy of my enemy". It's an angry populist movement that may not like having a "darkie" as a president, but generally is no fan of the Republican establishment either. The way things are headed, we could see a legitimate schism in the Republican party by 2012 (2010 should be a good year for Republicans in spite of everything going wrong for them, thanks mostly to midterm elections and an economy that won't be fully recovered).

Your knowledge is seriously lacking and I haven't the time to educate you this week. I'll say this much, toy seem to thing that there is only one militia group in the country and only one reason for them to arm. You couldn't be more wrong. (Hint - take a closer look at Mormons)

 Mormons?!

These kinds of threads are like a little boy threatening to tell someones mom what her kid did dude.

Go out and help make your conservative movement strong again, and win because you're the best. Trying to win on the hopes that the other team will fail is a pretty lousy game plan.

Especially when the failure of the other team will also hurt you.

Forest through the trees ring any bells?

Bump.

How will we benefit from a republican renaissance? What can they do for me? Last time they ran our country healthcare reform wasn't even on their radar... and year after year they increased the debt to new heights.

How are they now new and improved?
