The Weather Tower

Ok...Net here is the official guide to weather in the way up here...(as i see it)
My view:
Cold - you might want to wear a jacket

Brisk - Wear underwear or your buns will freeze

Friggin Cold - Go outside and show the kids how their spit will freeze before it hits the ground

Really Friggin Cold - The dog goes to the door after 8 hrs in the kennel, looks at you and says "I'll hold it"

Holy Shit its Cold - I don't care that your bleeding, I am not leaving my spot in fornt of the fire.

My Wife/pyl's View:
Cold/Friggin Cold/Really Friggin Cold/Holy Shit its Cold - any temperture below 85 degrees

Hope this helps.

Haha.

Like I said, brisk.

A good nordic ski in long undies is my idea of fun.

Here's a question for you:

are you native to MN?

Is she?

I find that most people not native to MN kind of hate heat or dig winter and most who are HATE anything not balmy but stay anyway.

NEVER have experienced nor have I ever heard of such a thing.
That sounds crazy.

Yep. My first week in college they were talking about that I was like "whatever." Watching me for the first time snorting was a total "bambi on the ice" moment, I'm sure.

Florida....South West..an hour or so south of Tampa.

Well it's effing beautiful out there. Sunny, clear skies. Cool breeze blowing through, col 74 degrees. Great time to be naked outdoors.

I was born and raised in Pennsylvania so I did my time thanks. Don't hate me northerners.
He's lacking envy toward us northerners almost the same way I don't envy southerners when hurricane season comes around.

Like in the summertime I can say, "Hey, Twysted.. How you doing. It's friggin great here today. I have a roof.".

hehe

I like Florida though. Oddest Christmas I ever had was in Orlando in '98 ... decorated a palm tree with tinsel and lights and ornaments. It was a nice change.:)

Netzach,

She is a native from MN, grew ip in Eagan. I am a transplant from the cornfields of IA (you know where men are men, girls are ugly and sheep are nervous).

Personally, living way up north (Bemidji) you get a new reality when it comes to COLD. Last year the coldest was -43F, but since we have lived up here coldest was -51F. You just kind of get used to it after a while, and the heat? Well I guess its pretty much the same feeling, but I prefer the cold over the heat.

2 degrees is double layer weather and a brisk pace here. -36 is throw on everything you own at once and suffer, motherfucker.

Did I ever say I was kind of a halfassed masochist? I take it back.

This is yet another reason why I do not live wherever it is that you live in.

It was 27deg when I rolled into Connecticut on Friday night. I was walking around outside in boots, jean shorts, and a long-sleeved button-down shirt, but I recognised it was cold. If I had to walk longer than the quarter mile roundtrip to the car and back, I probably would've wanted a light jacket. The next day was about 33deg, and I was a little hot in my suit with no undershirt on. Ties do that to me though.

But both of these were basically zero wind. Put a breeze into the occassion, or god help me wind, I'm done for.

Iowa isn't exactly a totally different weather system, but my theory kind of stands.

Bemidji's demented cold. I definitely was happy to get that 15 degrees extra of urban warmth and some urban wind breaks when I was done with school.

upstate ny

light drizzle/small pieces of frozen water, it keeps going back and forth

everyone is wondering if the small puddles of slush from the snow on the ground are going to turn into ice tonight when the temperature drops.

Oh cool. Thanks myinnerslut.
That means if it is drizzling there... we should get something of an accumulation here, which could still be there in the morning. Niiiice.. I even know where the sleds are..

Can just see you out there with the biggest tank you could find with a one way in, no way out arrangement!!

Catalina:catroar:

Whooooooa, that has to be the best stand up redefinition of masochism I have read in a while Cat .

Sheesh tell the World all my secrets why don't you. Can't wait to hit the City for Christmas, suits : bliss :

Hey all Florida here
Tampa to be exact, I see another Floridian has posted already.

I like knowing that there is good weather happening in FL.
Keeps the price of oranges and grapefruit on the low side here.

East-Central Alabama.

74F.

Sunny.

64% humidity.

Winds from the West at 7 MPH.

It's not really hot, but stuffy with the humidity. Two days ago, we had a record high here for this time of year. It's usually still fairly comfortable in December, but not this warm.

We get our shitty weather in the summer: tornadoes, the occasional hurricane that's still a hurricane when it gets this far inland, temperatures in the high 90s and low 100s, and humidity in the 80-90% range for months at a time. It's like a fucking oven here then, but I still prefer hot to cold. My blood's too thin.

It is 22 degrees....gonna stay 22 degrees until...well prolly until spring lol.
Mother nature is planning on dumping 9 inches of snow on my mountains by tomorrow evening. They raised the cost of plowing...the soon to be ex is in NY with the freakin paycheck.
FUCK! I'm so not in the mood for this!

Is it raining John Cleese especially?

I wish, wonderful man. Did you know they named a rare monkey type thing after him recently. I forgot what the thing is called. Google is my friend......

The suit thing works for me sometimes though, visually suggestive of power. I am not naive enough to 'buy' that but it makes for a charming distraction . As my son and I are decamping for the City for a Christmas/NewYear holiday with digs over the Harbour I am 'expecting' a whole lot of suits. May sit in the Lobby and drool the first hour : chuckles : Suspect that's not going to be a good look !

Not too shabby huh

Back on track, Sin I'll do photographic weather cam during that time frame if you like.

Oh come on now I can handle 75 F with a sweatshirt and jeans

Currently the weather in the great northwoods of MN.....

temp: 23 F (-5 C)
wind speed: 15 mph
wind chill temp: 10 F (-12 C)

we are expecting snow overnight with 30 mph winds and a low of around 10 F.
That may sound bad to some of you but that is actually warm compared to what it has been lately.

Fall River, Massachusetts 5:31pm

FALL RIVER, MASSACHUSETTS
CURRENT CONDITIONS: Cloudy, breezy. The ground is dry. It's cold, yep. Not cold enough for snow yet, but it's only been dark for about an hour. The temp is still dropping. The temperature is 38.2F at 5:31PM.

*I will have pics to contribute IF I see so much as one flake (in the sky I mean, not here on this thread... not nice to call each other names.. been enough of that crap around here today :p nanny nanny poopoo).

From the Land of Lincoln, Drinkin', and Fraud:

It's about 29F and starting to get dark. We're expecting the dark to worsen over the next hour and to continue until morning when we are hopeful that the dark will clear out.

Illinois, where our license plates read "Land of Lincoln" - and more precisely the Chicagoland area.

Props to George Carlin's Hippy Dippy Weatherman for the "dark and continuing periods of dark" idea.
