The Weather Tower

Here in the deep South, I have had to resort to turning on the air conditioning in DECEMBER for god's sake in order to sleep well at night. People are going to the beach and getting sun, WTF?

I guess there is no chance of a white Christmas for us. Oh but wait, Saturday night, when I have a Ladies Night Out planned, snow is in the forecast.

My mind spins. My sinuses bleed.

FALL RIVER, MASSACHUSETTS
CURRENT CONDITIONS: Cold. Dark. Dry. STILL smells like snow... that's al, so far. Dark out there. Dry. Cold. I think the sky is thickly clouded .. can't see shit though. I just woke up. Did I mention that it is very dark?

The temperature is 27.06F at 6:00AM

The weather guy just told me: Clouds this morning. Developing snow by the afternoon, beginning anytime between 12noon and 2PM and continuing until as late as 9PM. Heavy at times. At times flakes will be huge (the weather guy on my TV held his two hands together thumb to thumb, index finger to index finger ... which would indicate to me that the flake will be the size of baseballs  .).

5-9" total accumulation of snow is the weather guy's prediction at the moment.

I gotta go. I don't know where my boots are..... & driving to Boston this morning. MIGHT be driving back home during the thick of it all. Joy.. joy.

Oh be careful! Well, if the flakes are large, don't they supposedly stop sooner? I hear it's supposed to be raining and above freezing by the weekend - just in time for me to finally rake the rest of my leaves...

It doesn't even smell like snow yet and it's 10 am.

I'm in the 6-10 range. Husband gets out of work really early though. In fact, I should get off my rear and get my errands done before the snow starts.

Well that only leaves 2. Let me see if I can guess which two you won't be hitting...

Maine & Vermont?

Unless plans change drastically, we will manage to avoid Connecticut and Rhode Island.

Chicagoland: 30F (feels like 21), cloudy. Overnight low: 18F.

25 degrees and the snow is falling at about an inch per hour which means by 7 pm when the weather man says it is going to stop there should be a foot...thats not so bad.

He's lacking envy toward us northerners almost the same way I don't envy southerners when hurricane season comes around. :)

Believe it or not...I'm not lacking envy. I MISS the Fall. *sighs and contemplates the crisp air, the breath infront of you when you speak. The scent of burning wood drifting on the breeze, TOPOGRAPHY......it's so effing flat here!* unnerving...
Oh, I have envy I assure you.
*smiles warmly*

oh, almost forgot...umm...72 degrees, clear, sunny, high of 78.

it is NASTY out. started snowing heavily this morning around nine and isnt supposed to stop till seven. there is already a good layer on the ground and the roads are icy. i just saw a four car pile up on a hill. it is not nice out.

It's snowing! Right now, it's beautiful outside. But in a few hours, it's going to be all slushy and dirty.

However, in a couple days, I'm going to be up north at my folks' place, where winter takes its real meaning: -30°C, and snow everywhere. It's cold enough over there that for 6 months, the roads are white, covered in snow that doesn't melt. I love it!

A pic of myself outside in the snow in the small woodland behind my parents' home:

Lovely photo! But glad I'm not there. -30°C? No thanks. Do not want. I'm happy to report that I am my shorts and short-sleeved shirt were very comfortable outside a little while ago. The weather is cool and clear.

Grass is green, sky is blue, and all is right with the great outdoors.

shup you.

wanna come shovel some snow without a jacket? V and I can sit by the window in front of the fire and watch. *bats lashes*

Nah, it's more fun to sit on the bench outside sans shirt and feel the light breeze 'gainst my skin.

But, hey, if I were to be in your neighbourhood, I'd shovel snow. It's good work, up to a certain point. After that point it's time to bust out the propane wide tip torch and melt that crap off.

LOL you are funny. Thanks for the smile.

It would take something along the lines of a Rambo 3000 flamethrower to take care of more than a small porch step in less than an hour. But it would be a lot of fun watching you try whilst I was sitting next to the fire with two attractive women. :D

Well, the time I've used one, it was to melt that hard-packed icy crap the sits under the softer top snow. And the torch was a cool bit. Had this huge bowl-shaped nozzle. It worked right well on the hard stuff. You still have to shovel, but at least I didn't have to chip the icy stuff off the sidewalk.

And, frankly, it's more fun to do things with fire anyway.

Frankly, I prefer to do things by the fire. :D

Whatever.

You may be walking around in shorts, but I get to do this:

You may be walking around in shorts, but I get to do this:

I've done that in shorts. I used to wear them all winter. Then again, what we call winter around here you would probably term late spring or somesuch.

I'll keep my shorts and just enjoy your snowangels vicariously. And when I go mountainbiking this weekend, I'll think about you.

I love men in suits, just for other purposes than those you'd put them to, probably.
Concurs, bring in the 'me' and 'putting them to purposes' and we are talking one hard core squick. I just keep quiet adoration on a leash, my own.
I wish men here knew how to dress. Office casual how I hate thee.

And good for you, your vacation, and your spirit.
My husband wants to do something, anything, for Christmas other than sit around and try and make it kind of like it was before his mom died, my sis in law wants to recreate everything. I just roll with it. I will make up for the hijack here with a picture of some really pretty snow in the AM.
Thank you , I think your husband is pretty wise. Took me 3 years to figure it out. You simply can't emulate the past with key figures gone. Total exercise in futility. My choices are further enhanced by the fact if my Mom was still alive she would be ecstatic that I have to courage and creativity to defy the status quo. She was a villain, I adored her.
