The Windy City is named not for its weather but for its politics.
No foolin'.
She's right. The nickname for Chicago that stuck came from an article in a New York newspaper.

Illinois, where our license plates read "Land of Lincoln" - and more precisely the Chicagoland area.
Props to George Carlin's Hippy Dippy Weatherman for the "dark and continuing periods of dark" idea.
You've GOT to tell me that is not your view so I don't have to envy.
I wish, wonderful man. Did you know they named a rare monkey type thing after him recently. I forgot what the thing is called. Google is my friend......

The suit thing works for me sometimes though, visually suggestive of power. I am not naive enough to 'buy' that but it makes for a charming distraction . As my son and I are decamping for the City for a Christmas/NewYear holiday with digs over the Harbour I am 'expecting' a whole lot of suits. May sit in the Lobby and drool the first hour : chuckles : Suspect that's not going to be a good look !

Not too shabby huh
Back on track, Sin I'll do photographic weather cam during that time frame if you like.
And like many others I am sure, I did think it was all about the weather, yep. Learn something new every day. Thanks. The Windy City is named not for its weather but for its politics.

Iowa isn't exactly a totally different weather system, but my theory kind of stands.
Bemidji's demented cold. I definitely was happy to get that 15 degrees extra of urban warmth and some urban wind breaks when I was done with school.
Oh kewl. Thanks... never been out that way. Not many from there come this way. I never see that plate I guess.
I would be happy with either view. This is ......

................a huge year for us.
Well that only leaves 2. Let me see if I can guess which two you won't be hitting...I drive to New England at least once each year, but Fall River isn't exactly on the direct route. Was there once, though, with a grad school friend who had grown up there. And will be heading the car eastward again in a bit more than a week, so our Land of Lincoln plates will be spotted in at least four of the 6 NE states shortly.
You went to BSU???
Interesting....so does nws.
78F with 54% humidity. I spent about 5 hours driving around with the windows down.
42 °F and Clear... although it was drizzling earlier. Tomorrow is supposed to be a high of 36 and raining..

We need rain desperately.
Plenty of water here but some cities in the Southeast are running out.
Alas, his latest manly member has succumbed to the cold. I may have to poke a stick in there if I can and mold the snow around it if I want him to be manly.
