i wonder why it is... (one of the things that make me go hummm this is...) that some individuals don't understand this lifestyle and just don't want to... I can get the whole " their not into it " thing but why are so many so closed minded? I suppose I could answer it myself but it made me go hummm? so I started thinking about it. Wondering why anyone who doesn't enjoy it either mocks it or degrades it and so on. I had an experiance today with one such person. It was disheartening to say the very least... It was a simple conversation... gone quite awry. It made me sad a bit. anyway, I just wanted to share my rant. Thanks for humoring me

By "this lifestyle" do you mean bdsm, or sexual openness in general?

A lot of times people aren't open-minded because they feel threatened. Sex can be a very powerful thing, it's a source of some of the most wonderful and horrible sensations that people can feel, and it's the very genesis of new human life. As such, it can be threatening to those who see life in a particular way...

I would like to think that I am above such prejudices... wouldn't we all? Someone I once lived with, for instance, thought that the problems in the middle east might be solved with the use of nuclear weapons, that the resulting peace would be worth the death toll. I was truly offended and honestly liked this man less personally because of him having voiced this political opinion. But doesn't that make me just as closed-minded as someone who is frightened and offended by sexual liberalism?

I can only be open-minded enough to admit that my values which were offended by his political opinion are no more or less important than the values of someone which are offended by sexual liberalism or S&M...

It's why we come here isn't it? A place that genuinely attempts to celebrate, tolerate, discuss, examine all kinds of sexuality, all body shapes and sizes and all attitudes.

Of course there are exceptions to all rules but it's why I am drawn back time and time again. It's helped me to embrace and come to terms with aspects of my sexuality that I struggled with and I've made really strong and wonderful friendships with people who accept me for who I am more than any other place I've been.
