Tanya sat down on her chair, propped her feet up on her table, and drained the last whisky out of her flask.
"Dammit."
She tossed the flask down on the table, and sat back up with a grunt.
"Fucking rotten day."
It had started well enough. Now it was shot all to hell.
She stood slowly, walked over to the cabinet, opened it, pulled out a new whisky bottle, and walked back to the table. She uncorked it and was about to refill the flask ... Then figured, why bother?
She put the bottle to her lips, and tossed her head back, taking in a full gulp of the fiery liquid.
She sat back down, propped her feet up, and abruptly flung the flask across the room.
Her information was useless. Sure, they had the Eye, but it was the idea of the thing. She could have stayed on the ship. She wouldn't have run into Langley. Actually, that was probably inevitable. The bastard had been after her for several years. Killed his brother or lover or something, she couldn't remember exactly.
Damien's comment didn't bother her. No, actually it did. He said it every time a new person joined up. Still, the timing was bad. She thought that what they shared had meant something.
Nah, she wasn't a fool. Of course it was just a roll in the sheets.
She glugged down more of the hot liquid. Not much else to do. Might as well get shitfaced.
