I think it's more a reflection on their mental processes. They're confused and angry because they aren't getting their way. Most people cannot blame themselves for the things that happen in their lives due to their own choices and decisions. Thus, the usual suspects have to blame someone other than themselves for the things happening right now that they don't like or understand. They choose easy high-profile targets for this. Ergo - Trump is bad and anyone who supports him is also bad.

Since they cannot support this with facts, they resort to "truth over facts" (I love that line - so apropos) and project their internal dislike onto anyone they disagree with.

You can't pin them down on any one issue because the ever shifting sands of their mental processes on this allows them to lie to themselves and everyone else about everything.
