So many corrupted files, so many corrupted files! WHAT HAPPENS AT THE END OF NOIR!!!?!???!?!!??!?!!!

Or the beginning of Witch Hunter Robin come to think of it...

My Anime collection now spans a massive 61 disks and contains over 7320 minutes working on an average of 4 episodes to each disk. Obviously this only counts for the television series. There are also many films and many disks that have many more than 4 episodes on them, its mainly just Kenshin, Witch Hunter Robin and Noir that have that minimum.

Hardcore anime? Wrong train of thought methinks. This isn't the Urotsukidoji crap that gets imported to britain, this is high quality japanese TV anime. Each series is a complete series I think, (26 episodes, though there are certain amounts of data corruption making certain episodes unwatchable) but I am missing a load of episodes from the end of kenshin and the final film (although I know what happens in them, thank you people for ruining my enjoyment) and i'm missing the last episode of Azumanga Daioh. AAARRRRRRGGGHHH!!! Why is it always either the first or last episode??!!?!? AAAAAAARRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGHHHHHH!!!!! They're always the best ones.

On a side note, the few people i have come into contact with have claimed that I've been talking very very rapidly. Also that I tend to over emphasise my emotions. Judging by the amount of e-screaming that just went on i think they're right.

Almost finished the marathon though, only got about 20 hours of anime left to watch! Woohoo! Over the past four days I have watched 52 hours of it. I am determined to get through my collection by friday. And admittedly its not that massive a goal considering its only 20 hours but still, its better than just waiting to find out when you finish. I suppose it might be a world record as well but who wants to know the world record for the longest anime marathon? Plus it might not be that massive a deal. I'm sure there are people out there who dont even let themselves sleep for the 4 meagre hours I give myself before watching again.

Tired and hyper what a fucking odd combination to be feeling right?

Oh yeah, the series let me catagorise:

Azumanga Daioh, Those Who Hunt Elves, Jungle Wa Itsumo Hale Nochi Guu, I! My! Me! Strawberry Eggs are all comedies. Although Azumanga Daioh became rather tedious and repetative, Those Who Hunt Elves is good but its only 12 episodes long, Jungle Wa Itsuo Hale Nochi Guu is very very good and the music is fantastic but the ending kind of sucked and I! My! Me! Strawberry Eggs made me cry :'( (*sigh* doomed love)

Noir, Witch Hunter Robin, Neon Genesis: Evangelion, Rouruni Kenshin (samurai X), are all action series though in different ways e.g. Kenshin is Samurai based, Neon Genesis is Mech based. Noir was pretty good but I didn't really connect with the characters and the last episode is corrupt so i can only watch half way through (that makes me a saaaaad panda!) Just started witch Hunter Robin but it seems pretty good, Neon Genesis: Evangelion was good but the first 2 episodes were in English and the voice acting sucked, plus the ending really pisses me off because its so ambivilant! ARRRGH!!! Kenshin is fantastic!!!! But like I say, I dont have the full series

Serial Experiments: Lain and Furi Kuri (FLCL) are both surreal but Lain just makes your head hurt. I'm glad I watched it on the first day though, otherwise I would never have got it. FLCL has some kick ass music (by a japanese group called 'The Pillows' if you're interested..... probably not)

Still not watched Martian Survivor: Natrisco or Ah! My Goddess yet. Saving Ah! My Goddess for the last so that I've got something short to look forward to.

If there's anything else I missed then tough. I'm having a hard enough time retaining a grip on reality as it is without having to explain everything

Manga may be a company that introduces anime to the western audiences but that's just the stuff that is highly marketable, all the stuff i have is fantastic but they're not going to produce it over here. Although they might come out on independent lables. For example the Kenshin series might be available on DVD now, check MVC. HMV usually has good stuff but nothing of the quality of MVC. Speaking from experience here.
Anyway, back to the anime. Break's over.

P.S. No you cant have my coat. I intend to be buried in it.

Also, I cant get the theme tune for Azumanga Daioh out of my head and I finished that on monday!!!!

Why did they rush Martian Successor: Nadesico's ending in the film? Money problems no doubt. It could have been so good, the series was fantastic but they spoiled the ending of the film. I want to cry. I just saw the end of it not ten minutes ago. *sniffle* WAAAAAAAAAAHHHHH!!!!!! Its left too ambiguous, i may be deconstructural in my philosophy on life but that doesn't mean I can't see the two main characters get married or something!

Its the same with all the anime. I haven't found a happy ending in the whole bunch. What's wrong with Japan? Dont they like people to fall in love? GRRRRR!!!! The only mildly satisfactory endings were from Witch Hunter Robin and Those Who Hunt Elves. And even then they weren't great.

*sob* 75 hours of anime and all the endings made me miserable. Plus Ah! My Goddess doesn't work. I hate everything AAAARRRGGGHHHH!!!!

I think I'm going to go off and cry again. This whole animarathon has left me drained and (for the most part) depressed.

Don't the Tank Police series have happy endings? Captain Tyler? (Although now that I think about it, I'm not sure those series HAVE endings. They sure seem to go on forever.)

I read your long letter, and should probably read it again before making any in-depth comments. I'm not a therapist, so I can't make any sort of clinical diagnoses, either, but you sound an awful lot like one of my sons, who DOES benefit from talking things over with a therapist a couple times a month. He, like you, would also benefit from a steady girlfriend -- one will turn up eventually, but up until the very moment one does the future will look bleak to him and to you. And one of those steady girlfriends -- maybe the first or maybe the fifteenth -- will turn into a wife, then kids, then the whole nine yards of happiness and stress and duties and rewards.

As I say, I should read the letter again, but it doesn't look like you're asking for anything out of the ordinary from life. And like most folks you'll get it, if not all at the first go. Anime is fun, but it isn't a very good guide to life, any more than murder mysteries or romance novels or Broadway musicals are.

I may be away from the 'puter most or all weekend, so if I don't say more before Monday, don't think I've dropped you. Keep us posted.

I know that anime is not the ideal basis for a view and reality and this is something that i'm quite able to accept. I a was merely using this as a method of explaining how love can at times seem to be a fiction, however in anime even the love it portrays within itself is one that cannot be obtained. Its not as though i can't understand the differences between them, I'm depressed, not stupid. (lol, although that's a matter of opinion).

Basically I was being unhappy because even the ideal love that was portrayed in the anime is one that is impossible and if something is impossible in fiction, the one location where ANYTHING should be possible then what hope is there for the real world? And its not as though i've never been in love, its just never lived up to all those cliche's that people say to express it.

It was like I was looking back on all my previous experiences and asking 'is this it?'

It was more to do with the interpretation of what love is and whether or not the ideal of love was really possible or whether its just a series of cliches that people use in order to give themselves hope. I was asking whether or not true love is possible and if it is, will I ever find it? After all, if we only have 1 person who is right for us, out of 6 billion people the odds aren't great.

But I'm already feeling better. Writing the letter helped me a lot. I guess it was a way to get my feelings out without going nuts

I think i've hit the nail on the head with the meaning of life though.
