Btw, I read a pretty academic book about anime & manga at uni (I was doing a module in New Media Studies as part of a B.Sc. in Media Technology & Production), & apparently much of it is full of Japanese culutural stuff that goes over the heads of most westerners. Happy endings are definitely not guaranteed, nor is the hero/heroine guaranteed to survive, & indeed may die having failed in his/her task. This, apparently, is quite acceptable to the Japanese, it's the fact that they tried that counts, but it goes against everything we in the west expect from our heroes. I didn't use anything from the book in my module, it was just too alien, I did a study of computer D&D RPGs instead

There will never, ever, ever, ever be a real Chen Ling (aka Rei Kashino--see my sig). NEVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If there was, I'd marry him.

The closest you can get to Chen Ling is Zhou Yu Min aka Zaizai (squee!!) but of course, he isn't really like that...............

Man, that's so depressing.

His way of fighting is so funny! It's really basic. You hit me, I hit you. See who is unconscious first.

He's not very nice to his girlfriends though. Okay, not really his girlfriends, his sex-buddies, I suppose (8 at a time is his general). When he finally gets a girlfriend as such one of his exes asks him about it, and he tells her they haven't slept together. She says that that's all they did when they were together. His reply? 'If we weren't having sex, it would be a waste of my time'. The really sad thing is that I'd probably just be happy being one of his sex-buddies, rather than proper girlfriend. I suppose it's because his chemistry with Qiluo is so spot-on perfect, you think that they couldn't be with anybody but each other.

GAH!

(p.s. the reason why I'm not on as much is because I'm indulging in my unhealthy obsession with Chen Ling. I am in LOVE with him. Ok, lust too, but man... he's just perfect for me!)
