hows this?

:: waves her hand ::

Sorry, this isn't the blonde we're looking for.

(Remember, specific...)

hey Amen, I am going with the last time Wraith was on Earth was the early 1950's. If I need to change this let me know please.

Hey, is it cool if we call this Earth "Earth-2636?"

I realise this puts it outside the standard 52 DC Earths, but I figure we can account for that with "hypertime." I like this number because it's A-M-E-N spelled out on a telephone keypad.

Abraxas: That's fine, bro.

Chas: I stay so horrifically confused with all the DC timelines, Post-Crisis, Pre-Crisis, Post-Traumatic, Pre-historic, that I don't know what is what. So, that being, you can call it whatever you wish, because I'm not going to know the significance of it anyway. (Except for the alpha-numeric reference you pointed out. Thank you.).

I actually have a detailed yet concise explanation. But I need to go now, so I'll do my best to elucidate my theories later.

(Forgive me, I'll go batty if I don't try and get this down on paper at some point. Or. Well. Battier.)

Y'all are hilarious.

Okay.

So.

As Ultimate Ben "The Thing" Grimm might say, "Here's my bit o' science."

Following the events of "Infinite Crisis," DC's primary Earth ("Earth-1") was remade, resulting in a "New Earth" with aspects of its history still unexplored, setting the stage for new origin stories for dudes like The Man of Steel and so forth, and restoring old histories slightly altered, like a new version of an old "Legion of Superheroes."

Shortly thereafter, it was discovered that 51 other Earths, separated by The Bleed, existed in similar phase continua, which were at first identical. In the events of the "52" maxiseries, the histories of those Earths, originally identical to New Earth, were altered and skewed into some strangely familiar timelines...

So, technically, there's 52 DC Earths. Period.

However, Mark Waid's little-known oft-forgotten "Kingdom Come" sequel "The Kingdom" suggested the existence of "hypertime," which is to time what hyperspace is to space. DC brass has since abandoned the concept, but Waid initially intended it to allow for the existence of any DC continuity ever, despite the various Crises. Mort Weisinger-era Superman? Hypertime. "Teen Titans" animated series crossing over with "Static Shock?" Hypertime. Catwoman making sweet sweet love to Poison Ivy? Literotica. (Wait.) "Last Daughter of Krypton?" Hypertime. (You dig?)

So there's 52 core DC Earths, but as you go out into Hypertime, there's any DC Earth you can imagine.

Which brings us to Marvel.

Marvel also has a Multiverse built into its continuity, explored in such titles as "Excalibur" and "Exiles," but they haven't especially put an exact count on it, which I dig. Now, The Multiverse is watched over by Otherworld, and is defended by The Captain Britain Corps, each member of which is stationed at a lighthouse in Britain common to all the Marvel Earths (though there aren't many Captains Britain left, these days, lot of death lately, hence the recruitment drive which would then include "my" Captain Cymru).

Now, "The Multiverse" in Marvel refers to the disparate worlds that share certain common factors, essentially linking themselves by containing recognisable "Marvel" elements. F'rinstance, the "standard" Earth-616 is recognisable as being in the same Multiverse as "Ultimate" Earth-1610. But of course, there are other worlds than these. There are Earths like that of The Squadron Supreme, and worlds in which there are no X-Men or Spider-Men or U-Men or any of those dudes. These wider-spread worlds are contained in Marvel's "Omniverse."

What I like is that, essentially, the "Omniverse" of Marvel and the "Hypertime" of DC leave room for each to include the other. Which, obviously they do, obviously the greater omnicosm of both DC and Marvel include each other because of the crossovers noncanonical and otherwise. (Funnily, this would also include such fun stuff as various Buffyverses or, personal favourite, the Whoniverses...)

Thus, this particular Earth, which I like to call Earth-2636, exists on the overlap between Hypertime and The Marvel Multiverse. It's the exact spot where both those multicosms meet, with, obviously, a dash of Image.

Anything's possible.

To wit:

...and yes, yes I know who Bat-Mite is.

And Spider-Ham.

And Howard the Duck.

(Sheesh.)

Drakkwall-

I have an apology to make. I've been rereading my source material and Tony's tux is gone as he's deploying the undersheath. Technically, that's just another layer of armour between the main casing of The Iron Man, a neurointerface skinsuit. So, given that there's no clear layer of clothing beneath the strata of The Iron Man, he could be considered naked under there.

Can't believe I misread the transformation sequence.

Anyway, sorry for flying off the handle that time.

Let's have some fun, here.

Depending on craziness at home I should get a Wraith post out tonight, & maybe that Supes post sent to Amen. Also, I will probably get something out for LDOK by Monday. (on that note, Chas, are you playing Lionel as well as Lex, because Bekka is coming to town!)

Last I heard, Amen was playing Lionel in LDoK, and doing it brilliantly.

I actually gave LDoK's Lex up and Tears took him, though I'm thinking of taking him back to start up something I foreshadowed (backshadowed?) in "World's Finest."

Depending on how the permission-getting PMs go.

Going to work on something here first and then send those out.

Furthermore:

Later on in the "Most Wanted" arc, Tony sheds the armour to fight Zeke Stane barehanded after an EMP kills both their tech.

He's wearing boxers. Cute, black boxers.

So I was wrong, but I was also right.

Yay, informational compromise.

I think Thor would look utterly ridiculous is some Scooby Doo boxers.

Not that I would say anything to him.

Agreed.

What does The Norse God of Thunder wear about and a-bed?

Like a grumpy gorilla, whatever he likes.
