Update on oggbashan's health

As I discovered, Ogg, in addition to all the clever medical stuff, a bit of luck is useful at times like this. Eight years ago, the experts told me that I was down to my last few months. I can assure you that I am still here. Not moving very fast. Sometimes not moving at all. But I am here.

Good luck, sir.

Thank you. 'many years' are very unlikely. I might have a year if I'm lucky.

My advice, my friend, is to make that year count.

In the US, there's an active hospice association to help us make that transition. I'd guess that you Brits have the same thing in one form or another. It's been a big help for those friends of mine in negotiating their final hours/months/years.

(And my advice is worth exactly what you pay for it, but there it is.)

So sorry to here about this Ogg, really, really sorry.

I have no words, but I will think of you in my prayers.

Well, that's a bit of a bugger, isn't it?

The puffin nodded, and got back to work. There were still many rocks to be sat on, and recalcitrant youngsters to chivvy along. He'd fly off to wherever puffins go when he was good and ready, but not before.

Prayers, good vibes, and a big hug, Ogg...along with a very deep desire for your doctors being only the most talented and successful ones ever.

Much  from this side of the pond.

.

Much Thoughts & Prayers, Ogg.

I discovered that when undergoing chemotherapy, it is vital to clean your teeth, as the gums shrink and the resulting pain can be very distracting (!!). An electric toothbrush works for me.

If I had any teeth that might be useful advice, HP.

Playing rugby, crashing motorbikes, falling off cliffs, rocks, horses and mountains have left me with removable teeth.

I have already been given contacts for the local hospice but my medical daughter, who came with me today, is the lead palliative care doctor for one of the largest hospices in London. I have a family expert.

We all have a limited time on this earth. Enjoy the rest that you have.

I have already had a long innings, far more than three score years and ten. I have had stories published on Literotica for over 17 years - not a record but I have added some in every one of those years.

Hi Oggy,
I may have had some differences with you over politics but in reality it's all bollocks. Speaking as someone who was diagnosed with Cancer 10 years ago and is still standing all I can say is keep fighting and listen to your body not to the Doctor's, doctors get it wrong from time to time.
Good luck and keep fighting!

It's time's like this that I wish there was something a person could say that would actually ease the burden. I wish all the best for you, good care from nice people and as much time as you want to enjoy your family. We'll all be thinking about you.

Our thoughts and prayers go your way sir. Hubby and I have enjoyed your contributions for many years. Here's hoping that you hit that 500!

My very, very best wishes, Ogg. It sounds like you’ve got excellent care. Let us all know if we can do anything.

I think you should take up wood carving, and make yourself a heritage set of teeth. The Ogg Washington Collection, specialising in veneers.

Falling of cliffs? I've never heard of a clumsy puffin ;).

I can't think of anything more to say that others haven't already. Best wishes, Ogg. :rose:

Ogg, your bravery and forthrightness are an example. I stand in awe of your drive and commitment to yourself, your family and well, us here.

Please take care of yourself and know that whatever can be passed via good will is yours.

Dear Ogg, I wish you and your family all the best in strength and spirit as you go through your treatments. Although I have never interacted with you, you are one of my very favorite posters on Lit (and I'm sure that is true for many of us) because of your intelligence and reason. Sending you many good wishes for your journey.

Thank you so much for the (awful) updates. You have always been a wonderful anchor for LIT (in the best sense). Remember (for what it is worth) that you have many cheerleaders here.

My ailments seem trivial. Best wishes for good treatment. :rose:

Shit... :(

:rose: :rose:

You've been a comforting and wise presence here for many years. I lurk more than anything, but I do slow my scroll to read what you have to say. Why I found this.

Courage and best wishes, sir.
