Vote republican if you want to let freedom ring! Vote republican to keep your GUNS!

I collect guns, I have my great grandfathers guns....they are SPECIAL to me! I hunt, I fish and my guns are in my home for protection! I also have a permit to carry a concealed weapon! The reason? To protect myself from the fools with stolen guns, gang members, thugs, home invasions....taking guns away from innocent people would only give the bad guys the upper hand since you know they will not comply with any law!

The constitution says WE have the right to bear arms.....and with the republicans I know that WILL continue!

I love to listen to people talk about defending themselves agains thugs and home invasions.

Those gang members, thugs, and home invaders are like termites. You have to keep a constant watch or they will be all over you.

Republicans are much more likely to create a state of emergency, declare marshall law, and then do whatever they want. Imagine Dick Cheney in charge of a military government.

You want to make a joke about Marshall law but it can happen anywhere and DID in Memphis back in 1978! I was young and wild and the whole city was a war zone....the Memphis police went on strike for 8 days!

Business owners were camped out on the roof with guns and lawn chairs to keep away the looters, teenagers were drag racing on the interstate and inner city streets without worry of being pulled over. It was chaos! So many people would have lost their life or business if we did not have the weapons back then to defend our home and business and keep the looters and criminals away. And for 8 days everyone in Memphis was in charge of their own safety and we survived.

The national guard was called in and homeowners were instructed to use deadly force if anyone tried to enter your home.....sounds like a movie but it was real!

And.....it could happen today in any city, so what will you do to protect yourself if you do not have a gun? I say thank GOD for the constitution!

Unfortunately I have to agree.

Guns are a tool, just like any other. Wild animal attacks also happen.

There are plenty of reasons to allow guns.

HOWEVER, there is no real need for fully-auto machine-guns, flame throwers, grenade launchers, RPGs, etc.

I agree with you on that.....I can protect myself with a 12, 20 or 16 gauge shotgun for close range combat, I have several rifles with scopes for long range take out power, 243 Winchester, 270, 308 all able to strike a 2 inch circle from 200 yards! Assortment of pistols of different calibers and sizes...I can blow a hole through a car door like BUTTAAAA! lol

I fully support the idea of citizens being able to own firearms without interference from government. We as American citizens have a responsibility to know how to use them. Our entire country has, in times past, hinged on the concept of being a Nation of Riflemen.

In a way you are correct.....in a nation filled with immigrants and city dwellers that we have today... most forget this great nation was founded by a war of independence... if our forefathers had not taken that chance and picked up their hunting weapons to use we would not be here today.

Heck, up until the late 1950's my past relatives used guns to put food on the table to feed the family.

Growing up in the country like I did....to hear some people talk about life without guns is odd to me. But, I guess if you have never lived any other place except apartment buildings and seen nothing but concrete in the big city I can see why they feel that way.

I knew a guy with an old "pirate ship" cannon.

We used to shoot 2 in diameter trailer hitch balls out of it at an old junkyard, right through cars, both doors.

lol

How so? Memphis was declared IN a state of emergency and the national guard was called in.

I was there....I doubt you were!

Well, it was unclear whether you were referring to the lawlessness or the National Guard occupation -- which still is not martial law; look it up.

But, you must know, nothing on that level or scale would happen if the police went on strike in a Japanese or a British city; nor would it have happened in Memphis, if Memphis had had gun control.

You were declared a Bruce Lee knock-off in Tekken? Sweet ass!

Someone needs to give you a quick history lesson....I take it your roots in America do not go very deep!

My ancestors fought in the Revolution. And I know that we later developed a professional army, that we could rely on almost entirely in peacetime, supplementing it in wartime with volunteers/draftees who, if need be, could learn to shoot in Basic. We've never depended on being a "Nation of Riflemen."

The 2nd Amendment grants me the right to firearms- the politicians have to understand that.

Ballots or Bullets :nana:

I have said before and I will say it again...."Gun control" to me does not mean taking guns away from anyone. Gun control to me is teaching gun safety, gun awareness, locking your guns up and away from children.....teaching a person how to use a gun properly and at the RIGHT time to pull your weapon. I'm not sure about other states but my concealed weapon permit is stamped on my Tennessee drivers license...but to get that I had to do several hours of classroom education etc.

My dad taught me from a very young age about gun safety just like his dad taught him....by the age of 8 I was hunting with a .410 shotgun.

What happened in Memphis in 1978 was a true story..look it up online! The bad guys may not have had guns but they still tried to loot stores and homes.....How could the homeowner have protected himself from a knife wielding looter?

The national guard came to Memphis and instructed homeowners they had the right to shoot anyone that broke into their home.

Actually you can shoot a burglar if he enters your home here anyway..lol

You seem to be forgetting the American "civil war" which was not always fought by enlisted men.....confederates used hunting rifles, many never got paid for military service...some such as Gen. Nathan Bedford Forrest used their own fortune to buy weapons and recruit men. We are a "nation of men" willing to protect our beliefs with force and courage if needed.

WHAT IF?...Say Russia invaded America and one day some Russian decided he wanted your house, your car, your wife....then what? Would be nice to have a gun and know how to shoot it...right? LOL
