Walk with me

I joined a 10km event but didn't have anyone to walk with. So as I walked I thought about all the walks you've taken, how steady you've been this year, going out on your own, fair weather or foul.
I'm glad you're meeting up with women. Maybe part of the "test" can be to see if she is a walker, too :)
Good luck with the brakes and the dates.

I just got back and it is warming up outside. Believe me, before I walk down the aisle, there are going to be quite a few 'tests.' I have seen too much and I am going to identify as many hidden mines as I can!

I went to the doctor on Friday and realized I had put on 25 pounds this year (I quit smoking is why). A friend of mine started walking last year and lost over 100 pounds. She asked me to join her, so I did this week. We walk either 5 or 6 miles. I decided to start with Mon, Wed, and Fri. She walks every day, but I didn't want to plunge in so I decided 3 days a week is a good enough start.

I feel great too! I am so glad she talked me into it. We walk around a large lake. We start at a park and go around for about 3 miles and turn around and come back. It's a beautiful view and gets me in the best mood.

Congrats on your walking!!

Congrats on your walking!!

I started last April for only 15 minutes a day and then it got addicted. Started going farther and farther. I have to walk down a reasonably busy two lane street about a half mile and then one and a half times around a subdivision that ='s about 1.6 miles. Add the walk too and from and its right around 2.5 miles. Since June, I've lost over twenty pounds and can wear everything that didn';t fit. I plan to be pretty slender for the Chicago Lit-together. Be advised though, you need to make some permanent changes in your diet or the weight will return which is why most diets fail. Best of luck in your new venture!

I only did the walking in the swimming pool in the begining. NOw I am up to 3 or 4 workouts a week in the pool. The trainer's class I go to has dance added in to stretching & water pilates in a 1 hour class. So far it's been workign really well for me.

I'm glad to hear your walks have been doing you so much good :) :rose:

Just got back as the the freezing rain in its un-yet freeze state started. Nice to get it out of the way!

I had to miss it this week. I haven't been since Monday, but I start up again tomorrow...

I hope the ankle is healing well!

I took yesterday off to deal with rubber brake hoses vs my acetylene torch and they lost. Today, I am going to walk and enjoy it. Now this is a sweet sight, at least to me:

Good bye Mr. Belly and all from just walking and no killing my self at the gym...
My buddys camera sucks as I have a full head of hair!

It must feel really great to have to hitch up your pants which are loose at the waist.

I haven't walked in a couple of weeks. Several times, though, I've gotten my shoes on and headed out the door, only to be greeted by a sudden downpour of rain.

To make up for lost opportunities, I've gone to the yoga studio 3 times this week and done the 90-minute hot yoga class. I didn't realize eyeballs could sweat too.

Keep posting your walks, wally. They're a good reminder of the direct consequences of regular exercise. And wow, that was some belly you had on you :)

Yeah and the operative word is 'was.' Todays installment with the pavement is coming up!

I went yesterday, but decided to walk 5 miles instead of 6. I will go again tomorrow but have to cut out early because of an appointment...Hoping to at least get 3 in though...we'll see.

I measured the route I have been walking and is a little over three miles.

We went today :) Only made it the 5 miles though. It was nice with a breeze coming off of the lake. It is still in the upper 80's here, so the breeze was a nice touch.

Looking good! I walked 6 miles today :D It was hard too. My partner didn't show and I was so tempted to just come home but didn't!

Good for you!

Thanks to Wally, and all of the inspiration here, I've started walking at lunch. I found a co-worker who is going with me, so no excuses! :)

Three more miles for the log.

BP was borderline but on the low side> I was 212 on Halloween and now 206. Anybody want to bet I will be at or below 200 by Christmas? Well, I am waiting...
I started this thread to help and inspire others, not to bring attention unto myself. Sorry, but if you think otherwise, you are sadly mistaken.

The 200 pound threshold was attained and verified today, YAY!!!:nana::nana::nana::nana::nana::nana:
