Cody gently put his hand on Emma's shoulder. "Em, I think you should wait. It's the middle of the night and you're injured. Why don't you at least wait until tomorrow morning. Please." Cody asked Emma, hoping she'd see reason and wait for morning.

Hiromi shook her head no. She simply pounted at the two strangers. One tied up the other not indicating she didn't trust them alone with the others.

Emma smiled, "yeah I'll wait till morning, speaking of.." She turned to the unconscious man. "What the hell are we going to do with him?" Emma yawned "ugh what time is it?"

"When he wakes up, we will find out why he shoot you. Then we will decide what to do with him. He is tied up for now, and I will watch him." Hiromi says to Emma.

"Thank you Hiromi, i think I'll try and rest now" She layed down near the fire and layed down on her right side, with her knife resting in her hands, falling asleep immediately.

"We'll deal with that dude in the morning. Lets all just get some sleep." Cody said lying down in the corner next to Barry. "Night guys. I'll see you in the morning." Cody said as Barry snuggled into his side. Cody absentmindedly stroked the dog's fur until he drifted off to sleep.

Emma waked to what seemed like it was about 6 am. She looked around to see if the others were awake, it didn't seem they were. She got up quietly and left the diner, heading for the gun store she saw a lot of ammo and finally a silent Sniper, with lots of ammo. "Yes!!, Finally!" Grabbing the sniper and ammo, she sat outside the diner and enjoyed some fresh air.

Cody woke up with a groan. He slowly sat up, jostling an offended Barry as he did, and looked around the room. Everyone was asleep and accounted for except... "God dammit." Cody groaned standing up. Emma had just been shot, but she was traipsing around like she was perfectly fine. "I'm going to go find her, hold down the fort while I'm gone." Cody said to Barry whose only reply was a sleepy huff. Cody quietly made his way out of the diner and found Emma sitting quietly outside, an enormous sniper rifle on her lap. "Holy shit! Where'd you get that thing? It looks like something straight out of call of duty." Cody said sitting down next to Emma.

Emma laughed "Haha it does though, nobody raided the gun shop over there, so I found this." She pointed to the gun store "lots of ammo" She laughed "Think we should wake the others?"

HIromi had stayed awake all night making sure they weren't attacked, and waiting for the stranget to wake up. She was deep in meditation when Emma woke up. She heard the injuried girl walk out. Opening her eyes Hiromi watched her walk over to the gun shop.

Listening for anything untoward, Hiromi went back to meditating. She heard Cody get up and move around, and heard him talking to Emma. Glad she was back safe, she stood up and stretched. Checking the Marines pulse, she foundhe was still alive. She was starting to worry he was in a coma or had a skull fracture. He must've been hit harder than I thought Hiromi said. Strapping on her swords, she went out to greet the new day.

"Nah. We should let 'em sleep." Cody said eyeing the gun shop. "You said there's a ton of ammo in there, right? Do you think you could give me shooting lessons? I can't even hit a wall with this thing." Cody said pulling his revolver from his pocket.

He turned and saw Hiromi walking out of the diner. "Hey Hiromi. We're going over to that gun shop. Wanna come with? You can probably find yourself a gun in there." Cody said to her.

"I do not use firearms. They are too unreliable. They can jam, run out of ammo, miss the target, break, get taken away from you, and require all kinds of chemicals to remain functional. A sword does not need bullets, never gets stuck in it's scabboard, is much harder to take away from it's user, and all it needs to remain functional is a good cleaning and a rough stone to keep it sharp. I will remain here and watch over those still asleep."

Smiling at Emma and Cody "If you do need help, yell and I be there as fast as I can."

"I was thinking about giving you lessons last night but I just didn't know if you were ready" Emma stood, "we'll use some deer meat as practice, I'm sure there's ammo for that there", she turned to Hirmoi "Okay thanks"

"Alright. Come over if you change your mind Hiromi." Cody said as he and Emma made their way to the gun shop. "How about we shoot cans or something? It's probably not the best idea to waste our food on target practice." Cody said entering the gun shop. He gave a low whistle as he looked at the various weapons in the armory. There were mostly pistols, but there were several rifles along the walls as well. "So... Which one is the best?" Cody asked looking around the room feeling completely out of his element.

"We'll try all of them and see what your best with, now we'll start off with two hands, she handed him a combat pistol, and loaded ammo for it into it, she took his hands and positioned it so he held it correctly and strongly in his arms, "See this switch? That's the safety switch pull it back when your not using it, don't want to have the trigger pulled on accident, now imagine those cans a zombie, I know the first kill won't be easy, this little thing right here is poking up is the sight, aim it at what you want to hit, now fire"

Matt had been awake for some time, he was a bit of an insomniac, he just didn't stir when everyone else got up. He found it slightly restful to pretend to be asleep when he couldn't actually sleep. After a while though he did rose and checked his gear to make sure it was all there. That done he glanced to Hiromi, "I'll be back, gonna go look for some smokes and maybe some soap, was trying to do that yesterday before all the excitement...say, where're Cody and what's her face at?"

She bows and shyly smiles at Matt. Emma went to the gun store over there this morning, and claimed she found a large cache of guns and ammo. She is teaching Cody effective use of firearms Matthewsan." Hiromi says to him.

"Matthewsan...right, right, you can just call me Matt...you know I read a book on bushido once and I've learned a bit about Buddhism also, I was always curious if Japanese Buddhism was much different from Tibetan or Chinese Buddhism. We might have to chat about that when I get back, in the meantime though, I really need that soap, I'm smelling pretty ripe. You want or need anything while I'm out searching?"

She was disappointed that Matt did not accept her effort to honor another warrior. Reminding herself these were Americans who didn't understand honor, like the Japenese, she bowed politely and replied. "I follow Shinto. I know very little of Bhuddism. But thank you for your kind offer." there was a few things she needed, but asking a guy, especially one she didn't know very well, to get those for her would be embaressing to say the least.

"If you need help call out, and I will be there." she said to him.

"Shinto, huh? Did a report on that once way back in highschool. I've always kinda been interested in philosophy and theology, I wanted to go to college to study that kinda stuff but ended up becoming a cook instead. Such is life right?" He gave a light chuckle as he headed out the door, "I get into any trouble you'll be the first to know."

"Be careful Matthewsan" she said quietly under her breath watching him walk away, enjoying the sight.

Once he was out of sight, she checked on teh Marine who was still...asleep? unconcious? in a coma? dying? She had no way of knowing, and even if she did know, she didn't have the knowledge to treat him.

She decided later that day to see if there was a library in this town, and to get books on western medicine, and living off the land. She realized now that she was not with people who had that knowledge, she would need to learn herself or join with others who had the skills already. She doubted any in this group knew about farming, or how to tell an chicken pox from small pox.

Sitting down, she took out her last bottle of water and began to drink it, waiting for teh rest of her new group to wake up.

Cody lined up the sights on his pistol with the empty can. He squeezed the trigger and winced as the bullet flew at least two feet past the can and slammed into the wall. Cody fired again, his bullet somehow embedding itself into the floor. He fired one last time, the bullet not even coming close to his target, before lowering the weapon with a defeated look on his face. He gingerly handed the gun back to Emma. "I don't think guns are for me. Or any kind of fighting for that matter. Thanks for the lesson though." Cody said to Emma. He noticed a small box of bullets that looked like they'd fit his revolver and slipped them int his pocket despite his inability to use them. "Do you think I should try again, or will I just be wasting ammo?" Cody asked eyeing the bullet holes he'd put into the wall.

"No, giving up will not work for survival, use your revolver and focus, don't feel pressured it's already the end of the world" she joked "Anyway.." she grabbed 5 more cans and put them in a line. "Take your time"

Cody loaded his revolver with another larger box from the store, keeping the smaller box in his pocket for emergencies. He aimed at the line of cans and began to fire. His first four shots missed, but his fifth knocked the second can on the left to the floor. "I wasn't aiming for that one. I was aiming for the middle one. I don't think it counts." He said crestfallen. He lined up his final shot, and pulled the trigger, but his bullet usulessly flew over the can and into the wall. "This is hopeless." Cody groaned.

"No it's not, Cody you hit one, that's good for your second try it counts, comeon, keep going"
