You probably won't hear about it anywhere else.

I thought the article was decently fair, although it has ONE GLARING ISSUE. To quote;

Ghost guns are generally firearms that are assembled from parts put together by those other than the manufacturer.

Since they don’t have serial numbers, they are much more difficult for law enforcement to track.

Under Federal law "ghost guns" cannot be sold. Which raises the question; why does law enforcement need to "track" my gun in the first place? Especially since it can't be sold.

I think Montana has a similar law against NFA regulation, that being any gun made in Montana that doesn't cross state lines. The entire NFA is in the process of review right now by the Trump DOJ on a couple of levels, and several cases are in the Federal Court system to bring about change.

Stolen firearms.

You're like a rubbery Alt, always wrong and always fucked up but still managing to make yourself look even worse every day
^^^Harpy's idea of a "deep thought".

Anyway, I hope you can still get treated for your preexisting condition without bankrupting you or your heirs.

By the way, you can do your own thing with the numbers. If you build a 'ghost gun', just stamp some number in the receiver along with the city you built it in, a hand engraver will do just fine. If it's stolen it can be traced and if you sell it you can make out a bill of sale. Don't need no steenking ATF.

It doesn't get the stolen firearm back to the rightful owner though.

How is this a problem? Until the GCA of 1968 serial numbers weren't mandatory and many makers didn't mark them. Nor was there a database of any sort to match them against.

I also don't know of any problem regarding guns which could be cured merely by adding a serial number. Other than law enforcement wanting more control over the things I possess that is. Which has now led directly to gun registries, ghost guns, 3D printed guns, AW bans, ammo bans, and all the rest.

Yet not one of those things has reduced gun crimes. Not a single one, or even all of them added together. Moreover, making someone add a serial number to a gun they built, and which was subsequently "stolen," changes nothing because there's no record of it anywhere.

I'm not arguing, merely pointing out how to cover you ass under current law.

<-- has a rule against getting too close to government. Let 'em keep the gun and leave me out of it completely.
Well, putting a number and a city on a hunk of metal doesn't require you to run down to the nearest ATF office and sign up.

klllliooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

^^^^^^^^^^^ that was "written" by a cat walking on the keyboard.

Seriously? You're obviously a demented racist hell bent on mass murder. They can read anything into anything, and they do.

Oh, I ain't worried about me doing no running to city hall. It's the dragging off to jail that I'm concerned about.

He who wherever he goes is attached to no person and to no place by ties of flesh; who accepts good and evil alike, neither welcoming the one nor shrinking from the other — take it that such a one has attained Perfection.
