What Are You Listening to Now 7.0

Mayday EP

The Warning

I really believe that the Villarreal sisters are the best thing to hit rock and roll in a very long time. Absolutely love them.

Brand New-The Boy Who Blocked His Own Shot

I would have never heard of the song but this is my son's favorite band and he added it to one of my playlists and over time I kept hearing it and now I wake up with it in my head some mornings. Reminds me of my son and it's just a really nice song. Ok not nice because the lyrics are sad, but it's pleasant to listen to. Seriously, try it, you'll probably agree.
Thanks Pearl, that was a sweet, pretty song

A The 69 Eyes playlist after Bramblethorn suggested them to me.

Easy listening goth rock. Nice but unremarkable at the same time.

Thoughts?

I just now started "spinning" it on YouTube. (I hated "Fly From here"...)

Disc two was better than disc one - a lot better and saved the album in my opinion. Disc one was better than Heaven and Earth which is my least favorite Yes album. Disc two is much more a good Yes album. Had they left it with disc one I would play it once, put it away for a long time than play it again to remind myself that it's not great. Disc two I will be playing occasionally.

Steve Howe sounds great. I am happy to say Sherwood did a good job, and Squire was not a lacking issue as this is the first ever Yes album without Squire.

In the end, it's definitely not in my top ten (fifteen?) Yes albums, but it is not in the bottom of the heap either thanks again largely to the second disc. When Yes releases a new album again I will still be buying it.

Many thanks for your thoughts! I'm hallf-listening while I work - will need to listen again.

Like you I'll buy it, of course. I mean - it's a Yes album! But that won't mean I have to love it! :D

Yeah, that's fair, with occasional detours into glam metal. Very much an 80s/90s nostalgia act.

I've had them running for most of my latest writing session and they helped with the mood. Can't remember a single song though. :)

Now playing: Septicflesh - Codex Omega

These guys cropped up in my suggestions list after going through Music Unlimited's "goth rock" category. Bold choice, especially when flanked by Lacrimas Profundere or H.I.M., because Septicflesh are full-on symphonic death metal - very melodic, bombastic and with big orchestral backdrops - complete with a really evil-sounding vocalist. He doesn't do the "coming from the plumbing" gargles or the usual black-metal screeching, it's very fitting and pleasant, if you could call him spouting satanic praises and religion-shattering accusations in a low, pompous snarl "pleasant". :) Still nothing litfan might approve of though.

... and upon longer consumption, they are NOT music to write to. They demand attention. So, back to something less demanding.

Binging Ennio Morricone sound tracks right now. I've got fist full of something! Oh, me, or Dynamite that is!
