What Are You Listening to Now 7.0

Nothing but the Truth

Pineapple Thief

I'm sorry, as much as I love Neal Morse, Nothing but the Truth should have won live album of the year in the prog report reader's choice.

John Miles: music

This one is from a Proms evening 2001. It still sends a shiver up the spine.

Tangerine Dream - Phaedra (1973)

Another prog curiosity I dug out of hubby's somewhat eclectic collection. Big reliance on 70's first gen synthesized BGM and pitchy synth oscillators going in and out of tune, and tape-driven echo machines, a strange and dated but kinda sorta addictive listen. Will has perfect pitch, and the constant pitch changes drove him mad, but I toughed it out, because it's really quite a compelling, interesting album once I got into it, even given the crudeness and obvious instability of the electronics by today's standards. Definitely a product of its time, but not one I would have bought.

Can't wait for the new album. Curiously, they seem to veer further and further from "pure" synthwave. This is almost a pure metal track. Cool nonetheless.

@Lori: Tangerine Dream, eh? If you'd like some electronica without the shaky pitch, give Jean-Michel Jarrė's Oxygene a spin. One of my "lost island" records and a huge influence on my own music.

Sazaki Orite Hikari Afure

Project Nayuta

really impressive new prog rock out of Japan - really good musicianship with tight duo female vocalists. Enjoying the rhythm section a lot.

Project Nayuta's first album which is completely in Japanese so I have no idea what it is called.

Okay, I really need Blind_Justice or Haulover to listen to the third song on their first album. The style sounds so, so, so very familiar but I can't put my finger on it. I know when someone says it I will be like "THAT'S IT!"
The singers remind me of Nightwish's Tarja.

Dimmu Borgir : Forces Of The Northern Night

Pretty cool - black metal with strong orchestral backing

I couldn't bring any similarities to mind :(

Lunatic Soul : Through Shaded Woods

Solo album from Mariusz Duda, from Polish powerhouse Riverside.

Very good.

Wonderful album, my favorite of his Lunatic Soul catalog.

Be safe and well

It has to be amazing when even Dani - who is not a prog-head at all - gives it a glowing recommendation.

Thanks to you and Haulover, btw, we have added both Magic Pie and Karfagen to our collection.

On my plate tonight: A Scandroid playlist

New Karfagen in January.

King for a Day

Magic Pie

It's all Blind_Justice's fault.

And I knew Dani has great taste....
