What Are You Nosey About Today?? šŸ¦

Iā€™m nosey about reactions on Lit.

Specifically, the shocked/surprised/wow reaction to posts on Lit (šŸ˜²šŸ˜³)

Do you use it? If so, what does it mean when you do? If not, why donā€™t you?

How do you feel if someone reacts to your post this way?

Am I the only one that wonders what this reaction means?

I do use the 'wow' reaction. It's probably my fourth most frequent reaction, following 'love', 'like', and 'haha'.
I'll preface this by saying that I know nothing about internet norms, online behaviour, or the original intent of these reaction buttons. I'm not a tech person at all, and Lit is the only "tech" that I engage with outside of sending emails for work. (No smartphone or social media for me.) So I have no idea if I'm using these things correctly...
But I generally use the 'wow' button to mean... daaaaamn... or, wow that's hot... or, damn that's sexy... or, wow that's impressive... or, cool and really interesting. I'm pretty sure I always use it in a positive sense! Perhaps there are exceptions, but generally I would apply it in the way that I responded to your post the other night. You posted a beautiful picture, and a very true and stimulating quotation, all of which combined to make a sexy post... and I thought, "wow, that's hot." It never even occurred to me that the 'wow' could be negative... but of course you're right. I don't use it that way generally. I just meant, 'wow... damn... very sexy!' (By the way, I really appreciated you asking me directly. Very cool. It made me stop and consider my words and reactions, and was a fantastic learning experience.) Thank you!

Old lit. Before the reactions. Sometimes I like them because I can react without having to say something. But I also dislike them for similar reason. It's lessened communication a little.
But if my reply would have simply been. "I like it! " the reaction will do.
In AMpics. It had let the lurkers react to pictures vs just lurking. Anywhere else too. But I've noticed it a lot in AMpics more.

Exactly this. Thanks for writing it out, sassy šŸ¤©

I still upload my pics so lurkers have to at least register for an account to see em. Small amount of friction.

If I use the 'wow' reaction it can have a variety of meanings and tones. I'll invariably follow it up with a reply, so it isn't ambiguous.

For me if it's a photo my šŸ˜² means "wow" like my jaws on the floor or "damn!! "

If it's a topic/opinion post then it probably more of WTF or Oh Shit šŸ˜²..

šŸ˜² I use this when something shocks or surprises me. It can be good or bad, like a gross comment is bad or a super sexy pic is good. In my mind it's also similar to me responding with this when someone says something about me šŸ¤£

I do sometimes . Usually itā€™s because someone said something that doesnā€™t really fit into the other reactions but I still want to note that I see them.

Sometimes itā€™s as in ā€œHow dare you Sir!ā€ šŸ¤£. Mostly I only notice if folks downgrade me from loves to likes though. *sigh* insecurity and a good memory are a bad pairing.

I occasionally post some homemade porn my wife and I make. When I see this - šŸ˜ it means damnā€¦ or hot or damn thatā€™s hot!

When I see šŸ˜²šŸ˜³, I think it means damnā€¦ or hot or damn thatā€™s hot. Or maybe like ā€œwow!ā€

So this probably doesnā€™t help at allā€¦šŸ˜‚
