I think it’s different for everyone. As a general rule I will not DM first, unless I have been asked to, or have a very good reason. I have to know the person before I send a DM and I usually wait it out until I get one first.

Women get hammered with so many DMs I figure mine will be just another one that gets lost in the sauce. If she wants to chat with me, she’ll send me a message.

Men are completely different.
