That's right. It sucks when you're expecting a tax return and you get a tax bill, even after any deductions.

A weird one carried down for generations in my family
Don't put new shoes on a table. It will cause an argument.
My ex used to say that the argument would be about whether or not it's okay to put new shoes on the table. I'd shrug and say "well, it's still an argument so get the shoes off the table"

Nothing gets you stink eye faster than putting shoes on a table…drives me nuts when I just need to move my shoes for a minute lol

I may have others that more have to do with me in the universe…

I heard of that from my Greek (former) FIL. Not just new shoes,  any shoes on the table will cause arguments. Whether they're on your feet or not.

Also, buy a new car? Throw your spare change in your pocket onto the floorboard before you drive it home. Not sure if that's just a Greek thing.
