What is absolutely THE BEST story you ever read on Literotica?

The author took down their stories but my all time favorite is Sweet Tooth. she thinks she’s straight until she goes to a sex specialist who acts as a teacher/domme. It has the right mix of hot sex scenes, cute/sweet moments, the feels, and love.

I know many authors here have said that when they finish a story, they are done with it, they forget about it and move on. If that fulfills their purpose in writing, great. But to me, it's an absolutely alien concept.

As often as I have a "Did I really write that" moment, I have a "Wow, I have learned a lot about writing since I wrote that" one.
I have re-read my entire catalog on here at least once, sometimes for inspiration, sometimes for simple enjoyment.

Usually, I feel damned proud of what I'm reading.
Occasionally, I feel a bit ashamed, especially if I look back at Ideal Suburbia, my first thing here. At least it lets me know how much I've grown as a writer.
Always, ALWAYS, I cringe at the typos...

As for my favorite story on Lit, it was an abandoned series that was never finished, that I can't remember the name of, and which I could not re-find after some diligent search just now. It was about a young dude going on vacation with his mom to the beach and which somehow did NOT veer into incest. (At least as far as the story got before it was abandoned.) It strained mightily at the Willing Suspension of Disbelief, but somehow, it was what first made me think it might be worth publishing something here of my own...

Crash Into me by Areala-chan. To this day, I'm not real sure how I came across it. I'd never purposely delved into the I/T category before. I probably went down the tag rabbit hole and got lucky. Her writing style is incredibly lyrical. I imagine she has several notebooks filled with poetry stashed away somewhere. Her main character is both delightfully awkward and slightly damaged. The romance hits all the right notes and long before the end, you've completely forgotten you're not supposed to be rooting for that kind of relationship. It's just a lovely read. As a matter of fact, all her works are. https://www.literotica.com/s/crash-into-me
Well, I'm pretty sure this is the first time I've had a "best story you've read" nomination in one of these threads! Thanks so much, Two21B! 😊

You're very welcome, ma'am. I'm so glad to hear you're still writing! I'd also like to second joy_of_cooking. Four Little Words is absolutely excellent. I encourage everyone to read it. It is definitely poignant, but it's a great example of successfully juggling a lot of characters from a technical standpoint as well.

I've been thinking of this for ages. There are so many to love, especially ones by @onehitwanda @BrokenSpokes and @AwkwardMD

However, I think my favourite is by @Limentina. There are actually 10 stories, starting with Pretending Life is Sweet but they are really all just chapters in one long story. Some aspects are (extremely good and convincing) Science Fiction, but mostly it is ridiculously real, and because of that it seems so much more affecting. The characters - including the impressive supporting cast - are drawn with detail and care, and it's impossible not to root for the protagonists.

However, it is the writing that blows me away. Every. Damn. Time.

One of the supporting cast is an occassional POV character, and her viewpoint is always hyperimaginative. The passage below always takes my breath away with the power and boldness of it:

Ray walked into the office at the same time she did every day. Then she smiled and her face was carved mahogany, her hair spun gold, her eyes shone so brightly that they left dead spots on my retinas. Corn sprung from the ground where her feet had touched it.

The three developers unfortunate enough to be caught in her line of sight as it tracked across the room were carbonised before they even knew anything was happening. The windows beyond them blew out. I didn't know whether to run from her or place my forehead to the ground in worship but it was academic anyway as I was frozen in place looking across the room at her, mind stilled as equally overwhelming waves of awe and terror washed over me.

"Hi everyone." she said and the sound was achingly sweet. Workstations around the room began to detonate one after another as the chips inside them tried and failed to resonate with her voice, the water in the cooler came to a boil, and the walls disintegrated. I could hear one of the survivors crying gently. I didn't think it was me.

She sat down at her desk and started to set up her laptop. A couple of other early birds around the room mumbled their good mornings. I spent a couple of minutes calming myself down and then strolled as casually as I could over to her desk.

Their story is a spectacularly body of work and I can only dream of reaching such heights.

Ever since someone helpfully showed me the ins and outs of the Lists system, I have been going through old reads and finding some amazing stuff. The archive here is great... yes, there's some chaff, but lots of wheat. Oddly it's not just the A-level stories that are intriguing me. A lot of the people writing middle of the road stuff or tropes have put a good deal of insightful thought into what they are doing.

For example, check out this peek into life:
If there were only limited insights to the couple's future, the sessions drew out some telling ones about Paula's own past. Her teen years were frustrating, marked by too much acne and too little shape development. Her beauty bloomed late, in college. And despite semi-serious relationships there, some deep part of her longed to recover the missed years of high school dating and young male adulation.

Not sure about “the best”, but the most memorable - by how fucked up it is, for me, was “The Doll” by CACTUSJUGGLER.

It’s one of the reasons I even registered and started writing here - because I thought (and still somewhat considering) to write a follow-up story from some kind of Men-In-Black sort-of agency, that would investigate the case and save the poor girl from the hell she ended up in.

If that's the criteria -- memorable by how fucked up it is -- then Project Oracle by viridianrookwood definitely takes the cake for me. Don't read it anywhere close to food or bedtime.

If Literotica was on fire, and I could only grab one story to save, it would be, without a doubt, The Smell of Old Books by zoemiller. I've read this story probably fifteen times in the years since she published it, and I love it more each and every time.
Thanks for the recommendation. God, that was absolutely devastating. That was my nightmare, right there. Beautiful prose.
