Setting up my fountain for the year and building a dry creekbed.
if you set me up instead dry would not stay your creek's bed![]()
Pictures?
Y’know, I laughed again at this because I realized I am using pee gravel for the creekbed. (OK, pea gravel, but it’s better the first way.)
I think calling it a dry creekbed is probably aspirational. It’s a tiny house version of a dry creekbed. It’s still under construction, but the link includes a small area I created about a month ago, which the creekbed will resemble. There is also a little video of my fountain, and a photo of some of my ferns, because I like ferns.
DGE stones and stuff.

Very nice. Ferns, moss, and vines give a landscape age.![]()
Oh nice Zen fountain.
Looks peaceful!
I bought my first pair of skinny jeans today. Just in time for the trend to end. I'm still pretty jazzed. I've lost 30 lbs. 40 to go but.... I'll take this win today.
It looks great! I love ferns, moss and the woodland feeling. Thanks! I’ve really enjoyed the fountain. I made it out of a giant planter and a bamboo fountain/pump I found on Amazon. I wedged a round grill grate into the top and added a layer of smooth stones. It’s very chill.
Honeybees like it too. I was annoyed last summer that they were loitering but then I read that when the temperatures soar, they disperse in search of water droplets to carry back to the hive. They bring the droplets back and fan them with their wings to cool the hive through evaporation. I realized they had zero interest in me or my guests, and now we just nod.
I also have some frogs that hang around the base and enjoy the water that spills from the fountain.
How does someone misspell “daddy” in their username?

We learned about the bees and other insects needing extra water during an exceptionally warm and dry summer a few years ago. We were trying to help our resident hedgehog and noticed bees and bumblebees trying to drink from the water bowls.
We found that putting marbles and stones in the water helped them get water with less risk and it looks nice too.
