What made you smile or laugh today? Part IV

Well, I think we could travel in style then though. 😁

Haha, that’s the first time I see it.

Many of the ERB's are pretty spot on. I have a few that I still go back to, the Bill Gates battle is one of them. :)

My laugh for the day comes from a local board where people are reminiscing all the crap everyone used to, and had to, have in their childhood homes. Like arrangements of dried flowers, ugly trolls made with reindeer fur that opened up so that you could hide a bottle of booze in them, flamenco dancer dolls, flower stickers on the fridge door that you got from butter packages etc.

Oh god, the flamenco dancer dolls! The crocheted extra toilet paper roll covers!

My mother in law used to have a crocheted toilet roll holder, the top was a plastic Barbie-like doll and the skirt was the crocheted part holding the toilet roll 🤣🤣🤣it was obscene!

In Ireland everyone had bottles of holy water from Lourdes on their mantelpiece, I used to hide my vodka in one when I was a teenager, and a picture of the sacred heart hanging on the wall....

Now that you mentioned the toilet roll Barbie, I remembered that a friend of mine had a Barbie-like doll that was just the top half and the poufy skirt was empty and you stuffed your PJs in it and it would sit on your bed during the day. I thought it was the best thing ever and wanted one, but never got it. 😭😭😭

And that was a very clever hiding place for vodka!

Oh and poodles crocheted over wine bottles! I remember my parents got one and then I got the poodle. Mom stuffed it and sewed it up.

Hehehe!

My pajama holder was a rag doll with empty knickerbockers. Haven’t thought about her for years!

I had to have good hiding places from my mum and 2 sisters who I shared a bedroom with.

Your crocheted poodle sounds wonderful, how innovative of your Mum to find a better use for a ridiculous invention 😂😂😂

I had a Smurf playhouse where I tried to hide my chocholate from my mother.
Let’s just say I had to sharpen my wit before the hide the vodka phase.

At one point I hid my booze among my parents' booze. :D

They didn't drink much, so they never noticed that there was an extra bottle there. They might have noticed if something went missing, though.

I also hid booze in an empty toner bottle. It leaked once because I hadn't snapped the lid shut well enough.

My brother used to syphon small amounts from the whiskey bottle and replace the missing amount with water.

I used to take bottles of my dads homemade elderberry wine that he stored in the garage.

Of course we were both found out!!

Omg that sounds like my Grandma’s house!!!
The picture of Christ with the sacred heart used to scare me as a child.
Oh yes, the holy water in the Virgin Mary bottles ha!
I went to Lourdes with my school to help people down to the baths. Got drunk and had to hide from my Uncle and my two Great Aunts as they were the chaperone’s for the group 😂😂
My Uncle was the school Chaplin/Priest, my other two Uncle’s and an Aunt were also teachers at my school!!
Yeh school was like going to a family reunion 😂😂

My Grandma also had the Barbie doll toilet roll thing 🤢

Thank you for the enlightening posts Anastasia and Iris:D
You’re welcome.
Now, turnabout is fair play, so where did you hide your adult drinks?

Ugh, a friend of mine (no really, it wasn’t me) did syphon of her parents bottles and hid it in an empty shampoo bottle. She hadn’t cleaned it nearly enough to get rid of the taste... It ranks up there with other yucky tastes like rotten shark meat.

I sense ”son of a preacher man” vibes here...:D

Spending the day with my mom. I have been working a lot lately and I haven’t been able to visit her.

Found a pair of boots that I've been searching for for months. In the wrong cupboard.

They came from a friend who died so not replaceable, and I was getting really frustrated not being able to find them. But now I have my stompy dead man's Docs.

Well, that one is magical.

It’s amazing how things can somehow hide.
We’ve had a cold spring and yesterday it suddenly went from Docs to fipflop weather. There was sone searching in cupboards involved.

24ish hours until no more work this week and 48 hours until I have the place all to myself for 6 days. Introvert living. 🥰

It'd probably be easier to find things if not everything in my wardrobe was black.

But that's crazy talk.

A guy checked me out and smiled at me at the tram stop. It doesn't happen a lot. Now it happened at the perfect time, because I was feeling like a total failure because of not being able to be a cool, collected professional who knew all the answers at a negotiation. It's the little things in life, ya know. :)

And I have ice cream in the freezer!

Freedom, smiles and ice cream, sounds great!
Does anyone ever know all the answers?

Took a detour, to some country roads and looked at the flowering orchards and enjoyed the smell of the rapeseed fields.
