What makes *you* an author?

I write therefore...

I tell people one of my hobbies is writing. So I'm a writer. I long to be a legitimate writer....like porn actresses long to be legitimate writers. But the instant gratification of erotic writing is impossible to resist.

An author to me is someone who does it professionally (paid or not).

Cheers,
V

I spoke with him on yahoo IM a couuple of weeks ago. He's doing well, just busy working.

author...creator?

Ok, it's like this

I've been writing since i was sixteen, but didn't consider myself one until three of my university instructors told me i was good. I didn't consider myself an author, until I actually had people reading and listening to my work, and wanting more. The thing is ... how can I tell my instructors what I'm doing with the title they bestowed upon me? Gad... kinda emabarrassing. But hey, it makes me proud and all gooey inside so...

The usual.

I punch some words into a computer, send it to this site, people read them and send me comments saying they like them.

Works for me.

yep.

Personally I don't consider myself an Author and never will unless I have something puplished on paper. I consider myself a writer of short stories, forgettable short stories. I do try hard though, and that's the main thing.

I'm glad that some people enjoy my tales, which makes it all worth while.

I'm an author because I regularly write stuff for others to read. ::shrugs::
