What pissed you off today?

Meanwhile childless Mi and Mrs Oldguy are working on adopting, however the system of child servises has changed today. I hope to be taking courses that will help me be better at parenting first.

I had to take the US version of those for my kiddo. They don't emphasis bringing your sense of humor to the party nearly enough.

Make sure you get to read the file on any of the kids that you're planing on taking home forever, too. It's easier to know what's going on from the beginning than it is to have a caseworker suddenly remember that there is a history of X, Y, and Z that would totally explain the behavior you've been battling for the past six months.

And a mix of Parenting With Love and Logic and '99 Ways to Drive Your Child Sane' are great for re-parenting. Laughter really does make you a little less crazy in this particular venue.

Good Luck.

I don't have the balls I was born with, and this pisses me off to no end. If I'd had a bit of self-confidence, maybe now I wouldn't be a mewling little bitch bitching about being a bitch, but nooooo. Instead, I am the aforementioned mewling little bitch. Bitching. About being a bitch. I picked the wrong fucking life to quit smoking.

Supermen dont exist in real life. :)

Losing my key fob for work, spilling expensive eye shadow on the sofa (AGAIN FFS), my 8 hour work day becoming a 10 and a half hour work day and the fact I couldn't be at home to help my mum out when she was getting flustered over the shit ton of hospital appointments she has over the next 2 weeks.

ARGH.

People being assholes and then acting all surprised when I get upset about it. Pull your head out of your ass and stop being so fucking oblivious.

Getting tired of having to be the bad person with my nieces because my sister in law and brother have no back bone. They know I don't allow gum in my house and my niece can't have gum at school but they give it to them just before they get here and I have to make them spit it out.

Just so you know; two nieces are 2 and the other is 4 and I don't want gum on my furniture because they pull it out constantly.

hurdles and obstacles everywhere.

I will make it over you or around you.

I will not let this be insurmountable

shitty shitty day.
internet and phone problems all day, being on the phone with the phone company for two hours, friend is going through a rough separation, finding out shit that was supposed to happen a long time ago did not happen the way i was told. fuckers. grrrrrrr....

i switched from fucking cable to direct tv. great promotion, blah blah blah, they came today, everything went great, up until i went to turn on the news. NO LOCAL CHANNELS for TWO WEEKS! fucking small town service piece of shit. my town is just now getting them. i specifically asked the lady on the phone, will i get all of the local channels, and she said yes! ABC, NBC, CBS, blah blah blah, so i just called them, and they were all like, sorry! November 18th. fuckers. now i am without news and prime time tv for two fucking weeks. the shows i can live without, but no news or letterman! FUCK! FUCK! FUCK!

I bought a car on Tuesday. All by myself. (That didn't piss me off; it made me incredibly happy.)

Prior to buying the car, my brother-in-law repeatedly offered unsolicited advice ("Just make sure you buy an American car, because foreign cars are overpriced pieces of shit."), and offered to go with me to check out whatever I was going to buy ("To make sure you know what you're doing/don't get screwed/make the right decision.").

Frankly, I didn't want to buy an American car just to "buy American". I wanted a well engineered car that would suit my needs and be dependable as hell. So I bought a low mileage 2007 Certified Pre-Owned Honda Pilot. All by myself. Did I mention I did the research and made the decision all by myself? Because I did.

... and in the process offended my [motherfucking c*nt of a] brother-in-law. In fact I offended him so much, that I went over this afternoon to show the car to my sister and her husband, and he decided to not come out and see the car/congratulate me, because he was "in a bad mood".

Apparently by refusing to look at the car he was "sparing me" the lecture about the economy, dammed Japs, being un-American, not understanding how important it is to accept [unsolicited] advice/help, and generally making a shit decision/allowing myself to be conned by salesmen.

THAT pissed me off.

I bought used, so I didn't waste resources in the manufacture of a new car. I bought a Honda because it's a fucking HONDA. My BIL is the only person I've ever heard say anything bad about Honda; everyone else said "Good decision - change the oil on time and it'll run for 300,000 miles, easy."

How did I not support America's economy? I just dropped $20k on a car. In America. which means contributing to the paychecks of every person at the dealership (and financing institution) from the Head of Sales to the janitor in the dealership's auto-shop.

The man is a c*nt. He just is.

Honda Pilots are made exclusively at the Lincoln, Alabama plant.

The vast, overwhelming, incredibly huge portion of the money initially paid (by someone else) for that vehicle when new went to US workers, US plants, US parts suppliers (as it is largely made from parts sourced in domestic plants), domestic steel producers, etc.

Your brother-in-law is not just any old cunt. He is a blinkered, bigoted, ignorant cunt.

And, yes, buying used means that ALL of the money went into the US economy. Honda doesn't make one damned penny off of you buying a used Honda unless you choose to finance it through Honda Financial.

Huh. I didn't know that. *Waves to the people down the road in Lincoln*

The various trucks built on the Nissan Titan chassis are all built in the South too.

O rly? Well I wouldnt give my Mercedes for any American car.
I would just tell him to stfu.

Mercedes are significantly less expensive where you are comparatively.

Their quality has gone seriously downhill though. They might be doing well now, but the abortive marriage with Chrysler caused an overall slide in quality and initial customer satisfaction, as well as various long-term quality standards. And from a collision standpoint I despise them. Ugh.

Still, all but the low-end Volkswagens are worse, and Audis are even worse than that. It's like the German automotive engineering community has collectively lost its' mind.

I do like them from a performance standard though. They're still doing some good stuff there.

Recently I read the new Ford Taurus is equal to or better than most imported luxury autos. Honda is over rated and way over priced.

And I'll be happy to consider something like a Ford Taurus as soon as anyone explains to me how to safely [and sanely] fit five children into one. :)

Honda is over rated and way over priced.

Part of my decision making was based on eventual resale value. For some silly reason, most of the cars I considered were drastically devalued by the time they had 100k miles - Volvos, Mercedes (like I could afford one) and Hondas, weren't. It's called using the "over rated and way over priced" to my advantage. ;)

They make a wagon. It isn't as "in" as a SUV nor is it a penis replacement, but is as safe or safer and you can fit 5 kids safely in one.

The current Taurus is a disappointment. The Fusion the I had for a while, on the other hand, was a gem. It had the sort of quality, ride quality, and NVH levels that I would expect from a Honda, and damned good gas mileage. It was in pretty much all ways a great car.

Not so impressed with the Taurus.

The higher end cars pay a higher premium in per-mile depreciation. The reason being that they just have more shit on them that can, and will, break down. That is a major problem with the Mercedes these days. They are so freakin complex that shit breaks constantly. Too many buttons, too many features.

Because Hondas have a great reputation for both value and ability to handle high miles, their per-mile depreciation is comparatively low.

And while I do think that Honda is riding their rep with a bit of a premium at initial purchase, they are not particularly over-rated. You really do get what you pay for with them.

Disclosure - I drive a Ford, and really like it. I've never owned a Honda, though viv did have an Acura.

Ford's site didn't list one. Are you thinking of the Taurus X crossover? If so, it's not being made any more.

I love Hondas! Some models can be overpriced, but many are a great deal. And they are ridiculously reliable and well-designed.

My mother. Seriously, some days I don't know why I don't just hang up the phone on her and ignore her for a while until the insanity subsides.

The whole Ft. Hood thing and people who offer strong opinions on it without knowing what in the world they're talking about (not here) is really, really annoying me, too.

i actually bought a honda (used, like CM) back in Feb, a 07 Fit sport

I was reading an article that was advancing the theory that he'd been taking anti-malaria drugs in preparation for deployment, and that he was one of those "1 in 6000" people that experience side effects. What are your thoughts on that?
