What pissed you off today?

I was reading an article that was advancing the theory that he'd been taking anti-malaria drugs in preparation for deployment, and that he was one of those "1 in 6000" people that experience side effects. What are your thoughts on that?

I haven't seen that particular article today (but I will look it up in a bit, sounds interesting), but I would the validity of that claim would be based on which antimalarial he was on. Mefloquine is the one that I believe causes the most psychological symptoms, but it's not the military's number one choice because of that very reason. If he was on it, and if it did cause some sort of paranoia or violent tendencies, one would hope that his training would help him recognize what was going on and seek help.

Also, I think the 1 in 6,000 (I've also seen 1 in 10,000 documented in another report elsewhere) refers to total psychological side effects, the majority of which are mild like dizziness or headaches. And females are almost twice as likely as males to have those side effects, so I'm not so sure it's a valid claim. I guess we'll see when he wakes up or they release the results of any blood work they do on him.

The Pilot manages to combine the best of a wagon, SUV, and minivan at an affordable price. It's a car-based SUV like the upscale Acura MDX. The Pilot's a bit roomier, though, and less costly. It's currently among our top SUV choices for this class. The Pilot delivers spirited performance yet respectable fuel economy; a comfortable ride; secure, responsive handling; and seating for eight. Pronounced road noise was our only qualm. The standard split third-row seat folds neatly into the floor. Access is easy, and fit and finish is impeccable. Crash-test results are impressive.

Also from Consumer Reports.

I'm thinking CM made a good choice. ;)

No help needed.

Mefloquine was the drug mentioned in the article, but I got the strong feeling that it was supposition on the part of the author. I personally find the idea a bit too pat.

This is one of those situations where my little bits of paranoia pop up and say that, no, I doubt we would hear anything about it, even if it was unequivocably shown to be Mefloquine. The military would accept far too much heat if they admitted to that.

According to this information sheet about the drug, it's never been linked to suicide, though I think it was tentatively linked to a murder/suicide of a group of Special Forces guys in 2002. That could explain the change to other drugs as primary preventatives, and also why it's not to be given to TBI patients.

Mercedes are significantly less expensive where you are comparatively.

Their quality has gone seriously downhill though. They might be doing well now, but the abortive marriage with Chrysler caused an overall slide in quality and initial customer satisfaction, as well as various long-term quality standards. And from a collision standpoint I despise them. Ugh.

Well I dont know, I hate the looks of new ones, mine is 8 years old, last batch of D Klasse that looks like Mercedes and not like some candy a kid chewed on and spit out. But I never had a single problem with this car and I am not a weekend driver. It is very reliable.

The single collision I had in 29 years driving around was in my brother-in-law R4. Do you know what R4 looks like when someone crashes into you? :D

I really think that the American MB's are different in more than just how many cup holders there are. I think they purposefully put more crap on the cars to justify the high price. I think that's the problem.

And if by R4, you mean an Audi R4, nope, never seen one that got hit. But, if it is an Audi, I can imagine that it did not take the hit well, and was a bitch to fix.

Haha no, I mean Renault. The little one they dont make anymore.
I had a baby goat in my front yard once and my brother-in-law came and parked that car without thinking. She found it very entertaining to jump all over the car and made such dents that he almost fainted when he saw them. :D

The ambulance van crashed into me and the car was beyond repair.

Ah, we get very few Renaults over here. I'm glad about this, as the one I've seen in the past ten years was impossible to find parts for.

And the goat thing? That's funny. I can just imagine that a baby goat clambering all over a car would be really funny to watch. Well, so long as it isn't your car, of course.

It was funny little car and quite reliable, only you could crash it with one hand.

Goats are wonderful creatures, you would never believe what they can climb and they climb on something all the time. The worst thing is when they decide they cant come down from wherever they climbed on and cry until you go fetch them.
I love goats.

I've seen one before. Never saw it wrecked though. They're collectors cars over here.

Goats are awesome. They make goat cheese, and tasty goat meat. And, unlike a lot of domestic animals, goats can actually be pretty cool, with personality. I always like going to the goat exhibit at the state fair.

Stupid is as Stupid does!!!

Well here we are H1N1 Pandemic going on and people just don't get a clue about how bad it is and how fast it is spreading. Nurses will not pass the pens they use to patients at the clinic. And the public is getting upset.

Get a hint people. How many times do you without thinking put a pen in your mouth. Your hands are a germ factory. 80% of people still don't wash their hands after going to the bathroom. Most people cough into their hands, then grab that pen, and leave on a table to be passed around.

The worst flue I had was Norwallgue Virus. I hope I spelled that right. I get a coughing fit, boom, brown trousers time, extreme diareeia. I couldn't get out of the house to go to the Walmart to get a box of Depends. So beleive me that was embarrassing, but didn't kill me. But H1N1, you have, what a bad chest cold, go to bed, wake up dead! It can happen that fast!

Again I repeate, you may go to bed with a very bad chest cold, and can go into a coma that night. Never wake up again!

Please be careful. :rose::rose::rose:

I bought a car on Tuesday. All by myself. (That didn't piss me off; it made me incredibly happy.)

I did that for the first time about a year ago. I still had help from a friend making hte decision though. I'd have made the same decision because it was the car I wanted to get when I got the last car. Mine is a Toyota and I love it. I do prefer to try to buy American products but I also have to use my money wisely....the decision I made was the wisest one I could have made.

Isn't it sooo cool to do something huge like that on your own????

 Too much to even list here. Tired of the drama surrounding my life, and I know "normal" is a relative term, but would like to experience it again for just a little while. Tired of the tears I keep shedding. Tired of feeling like a bad mom, just tired of being tired.

I am tired of being taken advantage of in terms of my family. I keep my brothers girls; there are 3 of them, they pay me 450.00 a month to keep them all, and that is ok because it is what I agreed to accept. Here is my problem, I am the last one they pay. This payday they don't have enough to pay me the whole amount because they decided to splurge elsewhere. So, my family has to do without because they didn't want to do without. Now, how is that right. It takes my whole paycheck of 225.00 every two weeks to feed their children and take their daughter back and forth to school. UGHH!

On top of that my dad has moved into my house because he didn't have any place else to go. I don't have a problem with this (ok I do feel resentful because I feel like I have no privacy) but he does the same thing that my brother does. He is supposed to give us 100.00 every two weeks and includes room and board (we pay for everything). Well, he goes out every payday and spends the night at a hotel with some girl and then spends all his money on booze so then of course he doesn't have any money to give us. That is ok if it was once in a while but this is happening about every other paycheck.

Then, we graciously let me inlaws move in, they pay the electric bill to stay here (average at a peak month is 250.00). This is fine but when they buy food they keep it in their living area to eat as they please plus they eat the food we purchase. We supply the garbage bags, the dishwashing soap, any major repairs that need to be made are purchased by us, and so on and so forth. Now, if this was a temporary stay for them I wouldn't complain but it isn't. They intend to live here for the rest of their lives! So, since they do I think they should be responsibile to help pay for some of the repairs on the house.

Now, if my husband brought in a huge paycheck then I would not be as upset but we don't, every single person I mentioned makes more than we do. My brother and sister in law bring home about 80,000 a year or more. My mother in law makes 4.00 more an hour than my husband and my dad makes at least a dollar more than my husband.

I am being screwed.

Thanks for reading.

Sorry to make such a long vent.

Things have gone from bad to worse. Apparently I have been released from my owner with no notice or reason why. Now what?

I confirmed something today

The iPod touch does NOT like water.
I dropped it in the sink. GRRR.
I don't have the money to replace it and I lived on that thing.
Monday sucks!

My Former Boss . . .

Was in my cubical at 8:00 a.m.

Wanted to know about 'D's email.

"Which email Don? See has sent me at least three thus far this morning."

He's such a dick.

You know we aren't on the same sleep schedule as the two of you. We don't bother y'all when y'all are sleeping, would it be so much to ask that C. not make 40 trips through our room while we are still trying to sleep? Would it be so much to ask that you and C. not vacuum while we are still trying to sleep? And when you do come through, shut the door all the way or leave it crack enough the cats can come in so they can't headbutt it making it squeak.

the cable company. I switched out the modem because the wireless only works if the laptop is right next to it. It still didn't work and thier reasoning is that it's probably because we have a weak signal where we live. Grrr.
