What was this thread about?....oh yeah ADHD...support group? 😅

Hmm I haven't pay attention to that. First month I was only at 5mg, now 2 doses of 5mg, 1 in the am (extended release) and 1 regular at lunch.
I didn’t realize I was taking such a strong dose! Mine is 15mg both morning and noontime. Although I am a pretty big person!

I’ve only had the XRs, how do the immediate differ? Hits right away, but wears off quicker?
Exactly. The effective window is only 4 hours for the rapid release.

Hmmmm, have my med check next week, might ask about immediate release and changing dosage. If I don’t like it, I’m legit sitting on a 70 capsule surplus. I usually only take them 4 days a week. Like leaving my ADHD run wild on the weekends

That’s what I was doing, since I really didn’t need to focus so much on the weekends. I was milking a one month prescription for 3+ months.

The immediate take effect right away and it lasts 4 hours or so.

I think it's more like it's my first prescription and my psychiatrist is testing what works. My therapist told me that you don't fail adderal by taking its full dose (she said a lot of people take 30mgs). I'm not sure how body size plays into it, I'm a fat woman so I don't think it has anything to do with it.

The difference I see from taking 5mg and 10 mg is significant!

From what I know is that extended release might be better in that the irritability isn't as bad on those as with immediate release. 70?!! damn how many mg do you take? I take 5mg extended in the am, and then the immediate at 12ish (sometimes at 2p shh don't tell my dr) for an extra kick when I'm at work. I really like the combination!

that legit made me LOL. SAME, I take it sometimes to get other shit done though, but then i end up taking naps

lmao, you're being taken advantage of, that shit has street value and is way higher than lunch! JS
XR street value is lower than the immediate I believe - the people that don’t TRULY need it want that initial, “oh my god, I’m limitless… this is awesome” rush/feeling.

I just do one 20mg XR a day. Pop it at 8:00a usually then really dial in until about 2:30/3:00 and I start getting tired/yawning. Maybe I should get some 5mg immediate scribed out…

that's a good point

me on immediate release "I'm limitless, I'm going to respond to all of my lit DMs" :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:

I support the 5mg immediate release, I was told to start by cutting it in half, sometimes I do it usually I take the whole thing

I had to stop taking Adderall because even taking 2.5mg in the am causes intense anxiety within me.

I used to take 10mg XR when I was in deep burnout without consequence. It's been bizarre to recognize the changes.

Well, you better pop one now because I’m about to slide in!

did you feel the XR made a difference in the anxiety?

It was gentler on my system but it really messed up my ability to sleep. The non XR is like a punch to the face, but I can exercise to move it out of my system when needed. Now that I'm building back some balance in my life, the meds are working in a completely different way and I'm not a fan.

I do still remember taking Adderall for the first time and everything just going quiet and calm.

That was nice ☺️

Interesting

I agree about the quiet and calm. Also less foggy for me. Except I never realized I had any of those symptoms before.

Definitely took a bit to realize, but ADHD is a spectrum (often with co-morbid conditions) that impacts everyone in different ways. Unfortunately most physicians don’t seem to realize that as well. My first Doc just prescribed Vyvanse because that’s what seemed to work for his other patients. We kept increasing the dose which helped in a lot of ways, but each increase was ratcheting up my Anxiety dramatically. I asked to switch to something else and he didn’t think that would help 🤨.

Found a physiatrist who knew what they were doing and been happy with 30mg XR in the morning and a 5mg of the regular in the afternoon which helps with the crash. One thing I have to be super careful of is the appetite suppression, so I definitely protein load at breakfast and try not to forget lunch. Unfortunately the best approach we got to medication is guess and check, so if it’s not working try something else. There are 5x classes of meds that impact ADHD, guess and checking your way through all of them is insane.

If you haven’t stumbled across it yet https://www.additudemag.com is the best resource I have found to date on all aspects of ADHD. I listen to their podcasts in the car as well.

I'll check it out. Thank you for sharing and I'm glad you found a med that works for you!

I had a few panic attacks after I had my first child. I didn't know what was going on. It scared the hell out of me. I was going to an Assembly of God church at the time. I thought seeing the wife of the pastor for a counseling session would help. She was not in the place to be counseling anyone. Shortly thereafter, the pastor, her husband, told the congregation their daughter had had sex outside marriage. I thought wtf am I doing here.

I’m so sorry that happened to you. From what I’ve read faith based therapy is nearly useless.

I generally don’t have panic attacks except for about a year ago when my meds were all out of whack, but I do suffer from horrible insomnia and have to take gabapentin every night before bed to turn off my brain. Otherwise I don’t fall asleep until after 2am.
