Also, fun, excitement and passion don't last very long; they tend to die down in a matter of months - at that point, what's left?

All this is of course dependent on what I want in life at that point. Maybe I want more fun and excitement because I've been deprived of that for too long, or maybe I've had my fill of fun and want to really build something long term.
