When I Was a Kid....

WIWAK people didn't carry beverages around with them everywhere they went. I don't know how we survived.

Not to mention phones. WIWA it was a HUGE deal when my mom got us an answering machine so people could leave us messages when we were out of the house. It was a revolutionary concept that you didn't have to hope you got lucky enough to have someone home when you called them to tell them something.

Now if someone doesn't immediately pick up the cell phone that I know full well is in their pocket when I call at any time 24 / 7 I get pissed off at why I'm being ignored because my question that might have taken 2 days to get an answer to when I was a kid is not the most urgent emergency in the history of the world!!!

WIWAK, we never locked the door because the milkman put the milk in the refrigerator instead of leaving it outside. Hmmm, I wonder is that is source of the whole milkman genre of jokes.

WIWAK Davey Jones was the cute Monkee that all the girls liked.

WIWAK, we all took our jackknives to school, but it never crossed our mind to do anything but whittle with them

Exactly! And a pair of nail clippers or a pencil compass weren't considered "weapons."

WIWAK there didn't seem to be as many teacher-student hookups...

Be back soon!

When I was a Kid, I never realized how much works the "backstage moms" really did...and now that I'm in that position, sleep is becoming a distant memory!

I'll be a little busy for the next several days, so keep the thread rolling for me and I'll catch up when I can.

WIWAK, I used to twist open my Oreos, use my teeth to scrape off the frosting, and then eat one "outside" at a time. Always with milk, but I wasn't a dunker. (I didn't like floaters in my milk!). :D

WIWAK, Ella saying floaters would have caused me to burst with laughter...actually it still does...;)

WIWAK, if we got in trouble at school, we dreaded going home. Our parents always sided with the teachers.

When I was a Kid, everybody wore green for St. Patrick's Day, whether they were Irish or not. I kinda miss that.

WIWAK, we didn't have the internet, so no one could send me pictures of mutilated dogs, or cats, or babies, so I didn't spend the afternoon crying, trying to unsee an image I had seen. People didn't share those kinds of images. I kinda miss that, too.:(

WIWAK, Saturday mornings were filled with excitement because you would either hear the Helm's Donut truck jingle, or the ice cream truck jingle - and every kid on the block would be pleading with their mom to get a quarter so they could buy something, then run out to get in line waiting.

WIWAK going to the mall was a HUGE deal... still is since the closest one is an hour away!

WIWAK .... Coffee cups didn't have "caution: contents may be hot" stamped on them and a cup of ice cream with nuts didn't have "caution: may contain nuts" stamped on it either.
