When I Was a Kid....

when I was a kid, I thought there was a chance I'd catch on fire because of all the stop drop and roll commercials

~I learnt to swim in the sea.
~My Grandpa and an Uncle used to take me out fishing with them in the early hours of the morning so we could have whatever we caught for breakfast. Of course, I was not allowed to get out of the boat since we'd go so far out into the ocean.
~I'd see free roaming dogs mate by the beach
~I had a bitch called Anita that would disappear for days and return pregnant, give birth to her pups, stick around until her pups were old enough not to rely on her milk and then she'd disappear again.:rolleyes:

WIWAK...superheros didn't seem to have quite so much sex appeal. Not that I knew what that was, anyway, but...damn!

......I stole my sisters boyfriend. lol

She's 1 year older than I, and she liked this boy. She invited him over, and he saw my sand pile and Tonka trucks, and decided to play with my trucks and me instead of her. She was pretty upset about it. I can't remember how old I was. We were all pretty young.

Funny thing the water is probably cleaner now than it was then...

Not where I am. We never had anything like acid rain and run-offs from sewers going into them. I go to places I used to swim and fish as a kid and now the water is dark and smells horrid.

WIWAK, we had an amazing underground spring near my house where people would line up with jugs to take the water home. They had to close it several years ago because, of all things, traffic congestion.

There is a spring in a county park near where I live. As a kid, I remember seeing people line up to fill jugs and I thought it was so gross. It's still there, and I let my daughter drink from it whenever we go. She thinks it's the coolest thing ever!

OMG Ella did you grow up in Ontario cause we had the same thing!

WIWAK we lined up every weekend to fill the water jugs at the spring. It got all gussied up with a parking lot and pipes and everything.

WIWAK, the last day of school in June was more exciting than Christmas Eve...the prospect of a WHOLE GREAT BIG SUMMER VACATION just waiting for that damn final bell to ring...

god, I miss that feeling.

WiWaK I used to fire pucks at the brick wall at our house.

All day. Every day. I could pick a brick and hit it. No responsibilities, no deep thoughts...

Just firing pucks at a wall.

I miss those days
