WIWAK....
.... the neighborhood kids played kick the can in my back yard until it was so dark we couldn't see the can. Then we used the can to catch fireflies.
.... we went ice skating on the pond waaay down in back of our house. It was always bumpy and rough.
.... my sister and I got on our bikes in the morning during the summer and were gone all day. Never gave it a second thought. Just had to be home for dinner.
.... a hamburger, fries, and a coke at McDonald's cost 97 cents. The commercial said "get a burger, fries, and a drink and change back from your dollar" and you did.

WIWAK I had no idea what amazing things would happen in my lifetime. To look into the skies and see astrological events that will never happen again for millions of years. I've seen numerous lunar eclipses, solar eclipses, Leonid meteor showers, Aurora Borealis several times, The alignment of the planets, the transit of Venus, Halle-Bop comet, Halley's comet. I'm amazed to see what else will occur in my lifetime, when I look to the heavens.
The 50's were and incredible era to start life in. So many transitions happening in culture, transportation and society to start with. How modernization of everythiing began changing how we did things and what we did. The biggest changes I've seen are the complication of lives from the non-technological, to how everything is today. The other, is the marvels of medical research and what we've been able to accomplish.

WIWAK we used to ride our bikes up to the park during the summer if the weather was at all OK. We could swim in the pool or just horse around in the park, or possibly hang out on someone's boat.

Then you'd reach the point where you'd be swinging so high the chain would get some slack in it as you were swinging back. You could lean forward and bounce back down as you went back up and feel weightless for a minute.

I know...I actually got jerked off the swing this way once...I figure I fell from about 4-5' up essentially...ouch...
WIWAK I used to spend most of the summer bare-foot. Is there really any other way to spend summer?
