Who Is Lying About Iraq?

You seem to believe you already know the answer, but I'll give it a crack anyway.

The answer to your question, since your insistent is that our enemies in Iraq are primarily Iraqis who had no particular interest in fighting us prior to the invasion.

Now make the next needed step and you'll be right.

You WISH!,

Even if that were true...Why is Zarquari now attackingh JORDAN?????????????

Because he wants to overthrow the Jordanian government. What's your point?

Well, Ollie, the article isn't what you thought. If you read the entire article you would have seen this:

"We do believe that the major players are in Zarqawi's network, and that's why we're focusing our operations against him," Lynch said in a recent interview. "We believe that the most lethal piece of the insurgency here is the terrorist and foreign fighters. And it's because of the level of violence they're willing to go to to accomplish their objective, which is to derail the democratic process and discredit the Iraqi government."

Yes, I did read that part, Miles. The insurgency is complex and includes hard-line Islamists of which Zarqawi is the most influential and problematic.

But his very power and influence owe their existence to the invasion itself. Pure blowback.

Problematic?

Ya think????

Maybe he's there trying to pick up women.

Take me there, wise one.

Well I'm not exactly wise but... you take away a groups power those that lost power will try anything to get it back. How many of the insurgents do you believe are actually those that weren't those Sunni's that were greatly benefitting from Saddam being in power?

And don't take me at face value, some shrink is putting me on anti-psychotics, lol. BTW... can ya give me a quick low down on what cronic pyschosis is or just a link to a reliable explaination?

I thought he just hated US!

Gee, you mean the insurgents in Iraq arent much different that Saddam himself?

Gee who woulda thunk it?????????????????????????????????

There's no actual diagnosis of chronic psychosis. Psychosis is a clinical state that can be a symptom of a number of disorders (an analogy would be fever, which can be caused by a number of conditions).

That being said, schizophrenia or schizoaffective disorder is the most likely diagnosis if your doc mentioned "chronic psychosis". I'd find out your diagnosis from your doc and then go to the National Alliance for Mental Illness website (www.nami.org) for more info.

And I agree that a huge component of the resistance are those who are former Baathists and others who've lost power since Saddam's overthrow. But there's also a lot of fear in the Sunni population more generally that the Kurds and Shia are beginning to take reprisals against them.

Meanwhile, the elections are still on schedule and the "violence" is contained to 3 of 18 provinces...

Wasn't that last year too?

You mean the UN resolution. That wasn't sabre-rattling, it was complying with international law. Funny but the UN intelligence was far better than our own and that is a pretty damning statement of the state of the intelligence that we used to go to war.

It was?? The UN's own UNSCOM report said Saddam had piles and piles of WMD...was it lying, too?

I think he is too. And the sound echoes off the cave walls quite nicely.

And then, having toppled the Hashemites, he just walks away, right? Or does he replace it with something else? What might that be?

You were an adult during the cold war, right? Were you this flipped out by the Commies too?

Zarqawi would likely impose an Islamic fundamentalist state, kinda like the one that's over in Iran now.

But that's way speculative. There are miles between "wanting to" and "doing". He's none too popular with the Jordanian people right about now.

That's bollocks G and you know it. The most damning thing UNSCOM reported was that certain items were "unaccounted for".

Hmmm....Iraq states that it has X tons of CW in munitions. UNSCOM destroys 0.70 * X and is impeded from getting to the remaining 30% by the Iraqi government. Where did the 30% go?

Used during the war with Iran?

Perhaps if Blix had been given the time?
Or, another tack, the US and UK forces have been in Iraq for a while now. Where are the weapons?

Prevailing theory is that it was shipped off to Syria (if any was left).

SleepingWarrior said:
Perhaps but would you really trust Saddam when he says there were none left?

No. But would you invade a country over it? It was unaccounted for. It didn't mean it still existed. It didn't support anything that the Bush Administration was claiming.

You would invade a country over a "theory" like that one?

With the world how it is and was?? Yeah, I probably would given the information that was available at the time. I honestly don't know how much anything else went into the reasoning to go to war but the threat of him possibily having any left and maybe supplying some to terrorist organizations wouldn't have been my only reason.

The theory of him having some left over would play into. The biggest factor for me is the chance to allow the Iraqi people to be free. If this country was taken over by someone like Saddam or another tinpot dictator I would hope like hell that some foreign country would care about allowing me to be free and taking a chance on giving me the chance to be free.
