Why do negroes and poor whites vote Democrat an middle & upper class vote Republican?

So, you're using "trying to determine why certain groups vote in certain ways" as a mask for being racist? If you wanna be racist, don't try to make excuses for it.

I have always thought American's as being arrogant! Bush is arrogant to the core and so far all I have seen from Obama is arrogance.
That is one thing I dislike about the American society...to many trying to puff out their chest.

The whole world knows of American politics! It is being closely watched by everyone...
I have an American friend she is employed here as an audiologist and grew up in the midwestern states of America.

I don't know shit about American politics, and I don't profess to know, it's not my country, so I don't really care. It's just another way of America showing off how important they are, dragging the populations of other countries into their elections...

Great try but I'm not racist of any nationality. We do not have polarized issues of race and politics here.

An Australian is talking about people puffing out their chests?
You guys have the biggest inferiority complex on the planet. All you do is puff out your chests in the hopes that somebody might respect you.

Yes, I just grouped all Australians together. Apparently it's ok in this thread.

It wasn't that bad. I knew what he was doing but I've gotten used to his personality. Others maybe haven't.

maybe I'm getting sensitive. Seems a lot of people on here I quite like have started tossing around lots of racist shit, sometimes under the guise of being 'funny'. maybe I'm just too hormonal.

Sorry stu.

You may not have obvious ones as you're a small population country. My sister lives in Australia with her husband and kid, so I know what it's like. But the way you casually fling the words "Negroes" and "Poor whites" makes me think you're not quite the purist you imagine yourself to be...

An old saying, "When America sneezes, the world catches cold."

America accounts for 25% of the world gross product.

Cheer for the US to fail? Ignor the impact our politics, culture, mores, leadership (good or bad), may not be the best for YOUR economy, society, well being.

Every place is not like America....we enjoy nude beaches but most Americans frown on that at the beach. What we say here may not be the same thing you say there....So it sounds odd to you.

Can't speak to why certain racial groups vote Democrat or Republican but as for the monetary disparity that is easy.

The poor see Democrats as the party that will give the most. The part that will increase public welfare programs and how much they can get out of them with the least amount of work. They see Republicans as wanting to take those programs away.

Those with enough money not to need social programs tend to view Democrats as stealing their money (through taxes) to give away to a bunch of lazy people who just leech off the system instead of getting up off their butts and working to improve their lives. They view Republicans as the party that will take the least amount of their money.

**Note, both of these are massive generalizations meant to illustrate a point not necessarily the only way people view these issues.**

Viewed from a strictly fiscal standpoint the more interesting question, imho, would be why there are still poor people that vote Republican and middle/upper class people that vote Democrat?

This was the most mature answer so I will close the thread with this. :)

Do your research, Asshole. I'm British. I live in England. I've visited Australia and America. Go fuck yourself up the ass with a broom. I personally find it insulting to be called an American.

You are very immature....your profile does not reveal your location it only says "Anywhere I shouldn't be".
When you grow up maybe you can discuss things like an adult.

I do not appreciate being called an American. If you had basic knowledge of the English language you would see that I do not say "Us Americans" I say "The Americans" or "Americans" if I was American, I would say "we don't all support democrats" but I don't, I say "The Americans don't all support democrats." Perhaps I am immature, but at least I'm not a racist stereotyping Aussie who lives at home with his mother and has such a sad life he can only make threads about other peoples countries. When you get a life, you can call me whatever you want, until then go away and don't make everyone wince constantly at your lack of intellect.

If you've seen most Americans naked, you'd frown on nude beaches here, too.

Negros?

Ah wait. I see you are from Australia. Should come as no surprise, bastion of diversity and good will that you are.

Just go away your argument is not valid.

Great facts thanks.

Your question was valid, but people of African descent in the United States are identified as "African-Americans" even though people of African descent in other parts of the world are known as Negro. Its a semantics thing.

Cervid, I agree that most beaches in the US are not very "open" to nudity, but there are glaring exceptions. Miami Beach (SOBE) IS OPENLY topless, a few miles to the North is Haulover Beach, an officially sanctioned nude beach. Whether Black's Beach at San Diego or Golden Gate Park in SFO are "officially" topless/nude could be questioned. Truth is, nudism exists in every area of this country...just not on an official basis.

We have retained much of the Victorian ethic that was a bases of our heritage from our English heritage, so anything to do with open sexuality or "flaunting" of the nekkid body can be frowned upon. What exists in the "real" world of America might be a completely different situation....does "Girls Gone Wild" ring a bell?:D

Great thing to point out...many forms here that ask for race say negro on them so the term is more common as you said in other places.

Why do negroes and poor whites vote Democrat an middle & upper class vote Republican?

I have always wondered why they vote like that in America. I watched the convention last night and the democrats were playing black music...is that to market to the black vote?
This is a serious question and I would love to see some mature comments.

It is usual for most lower income people in a democracy to vote for the left party and most affluent people to vote for the right party. However, if the population is heterogenous, there is a tendency for ethnicity and race to have more of an influence on voting behavior than income. In 2004, of non-union white blue collar men who voted in the U.S., 80% voted for George Bush.

Of those of all races who attended church more than once a week - as I often do - and who voted, 80% voted for George Bush. In the United States the Republican Party has become the party of the white race, and particularly of white men. Nevertheless, white urban professionals who live on both coasts usually vote Democrat, even if they make high incomes.

When education is held common, those who earn more usually vote Republican. When income is held common, those with more education usually vote Democrat. By a small margin, those with post graduate degrees usually vote Democrat. Also, by a small margin Orientals usually vote Democrat. By a larger margin Hispanics usually vote Democrat. The overwhelming majority of blacks usually vote Democrat.

BTW, I am a white, male, heterosexual, church going Democrat.

What are people of African descent called in say, Britain, Germany, France, Italy, the Netherlands, Sweden , Norway, Latvia, Lithuania....?

Can't all be African American, can they?

10 to 1 they are NEGRO! (Negroid, the taxonomic classification of decendents of central Africans of dark skinned people, as versus Caucasions (as a group) of Central and Norther European areas of "white skin" or Orientals who evolved in the areas East of Africa who probably include Micronesions (dark skinned) and Melonesions (lighter skinned) and Polynesions.
