Why do we trust others?

Once trust is broken, it will never be fully regained for me. It takes a purposeful plan of deception for me to call a broken trust though...not a impulsive stupid fuck up.

Once that happens...I will never forget or trust at the same level. I may forgive and remain in a relationship and make the best of it...but never will I trust again.

Regaining trust is hard work and maybe never 100%. But are you saying zero trust? why stay in a relatinship if there isn't trust?

I tend to trust most people, at least until they show that they are NOT trustworthy. I have to admit that some show that very quickly.

I'm an optimist as well.

No...no...I did say "fully" regained. I can again trust that a person I care about may be truly wanting to be trust worthy...but if a deception was planned and continued over an extended period of time...I will not be able to believe it couldn't happen again. It doesn't mean I wouldn't WANT to believe that or I may even try to convince myself I haved achieved full trust again. But I know myself by now at least enough to know that I would always be "watching" over my shoulder...or theirs. I don't hold people to perfect standards...that's why I can continue in relationship...it just is a different kind of relationship sometimes.

And sometimes, as Fool said, they just "cease to exist" for me as well. No hard and fast rule here...just what my "gut" tells me. If I am deceived again under such circumstances...I assume it's because I did not learn something first time round. At least I try to view all such things as a lesson...

I can agree with that Poppy.

It ain't always easy but I think it's worth it to try mostly.

Hey...you reached 100 posts. You are now "avatar-eligible" if you are so inclined to get one!
