Winter Holiday 2010 Contest Support Thread

Dark, this author has 6 or 7 comments, all pointing out the age. If she just made her a few years older, it would be fine. I don't want to start trouble, but...is it fair for one to slip through and other not?

Nope, and if it's bothering you, go to the story and click the report button. There's no reason that someone should be able to directly go against the rule that so many others have been rejected for coming too close to :D

It is more or less the fundamental posting rule, it's there for a reason ( to protect the site ) and there's no foul for following up on your conviction.

I have stories that aren't available here because of it, because I didn't feel that the story worked when artificially aging my protagonists. I just posted them elsewhere, knowing that they would be rejected here.

I guess my leniency on the issue comes from the fact that i started writing erotica at around 15 and was completely mature mentally and physically myself by 13 so I guess in my head 13 isn't a big deal. But i am not getting myself banned from here just for something like that.

Ultimate, same here. And in period-writing, well, we all know it was perfectly acceptable/encouraged for the young to partake in "adult" activities. (But hello, teenagers?) But, the rule is there for a reason. I've read romance novels, particularly historicals which featured minors. Hell, I've written my own as well. But, I'd never post them where that's a rule. Doesn't stop YA novels from featuring underage sex, catering TO the underage (albeit more subtle and sometimes implied, but still). Hmm!

Dark, I didn't know you could do that. Will do, thanks.

Yep and thats what I do, thats why when this plot bunny started bouncing around i asked where i could post it LOL

You can have children as characters in a story, as long as they are not naked or see somebody engaging in sex or have sex or anything else at all sexual. I have a story where a five year old boy and his two year old sister get into bed with their father and the woman who becomes their stepmother, but they are both wearing their jammies, as are the adults, and it is 100% innocent.

Well yeah, but I'm not looking for something innocent...not quite innocent at all. Though its just an idea.

Well i have a story coming out tomorrow. It's just a little snippet but it should leave people wanting more so i hope it goes ok. Its called the magical hat and I'll have a link as soon as its approved LOL

I have submitted my contest entry. It should post tomorrow, which brings up something.

Be sure the "Notes" section contains the EXACT words called for in the directions for entering the contest. My Halloween contest entry did not, although it did have that information, and it did not get posted expeditiously. It was also not posted late. Not that I would have won any prize anyhow, but it is worth your while to be careful.

I've got a few paragraphs written on one idea, and another two sort of swirling around. The only one I've started on will have to be worked before I continue. It's too much of a setup for romance, and I don't have time to write that *laugh*

Barring my muse suddenly kicking into overdrive, I might finish one of them in time.

...

We Brits have a problem. It is legal and acceptable for 16 year-olds to have sex and, with their parents' permission, to marry. But if we write about a married 16 year-old we can't post it on Literotica or a US-based site.

We still have a problem with underage sex and teenage (pre-16) pregnancies. I think, but I'd have to check to be sure, that the number of pregnancies under 16 has reduced in recent years, but it has been a feature of all decades since the 1940s.

At 19 I was engaged to a 17-year-old. Her 12-year-old sister was pregnant (not by me!), had the baby and gave it up for adoption. Decades later the 12-year-old's daughter searched for and found her mother. The mother had married at 16, not to the father, and had several children. The daughter had her first baby, a son, at 14 years old. She too married at 16, to the son's father. So my fiancée's younger sister was a grandmother at 27 years old.

I married someone else. (not because of her sister's adventures)

Good morning, holiday contesters! :D
I don't think I'm going to get that other story finished. Hmm. Oh well. :)

Want To. So Much.

I totally want to do a Thanksgiving story with all (well, most) of the primary characters from "Angels, Demons and Alex" at his mother's house, which would be twelve kinds of awkward & funny...but, dammit, doing a Thanksgiving story AFTER Thanksgiving seems so lame, and if I do it NOW, then I'm totally giving away who lives & who dies over the next couple chapters!

AAARRGH!!

Og,

So that adds yet another complicated (OK many) layer(s) to it. So it's not just time, it's also locale and of course culture. Good gracious!

My second story posted. It's rating is epically low and so far not a single new vote on my original story but eh. i tried. And Og I completely know what you mean. In the state i am from 16 is age of consent for sexual activity and 14 year olds are pregnant all the time, and that is in the US I mean damn,

Well, I just posted my third story. It will probably be up in the morning and I'll add it to my links. And that's it! I still have partially finished stories that aren't Winter Holiday related as well as a novel that needs a cover so Selena can publish it. That ought to keep me busy until Valentine's day, at least. And I doubt that I'll have any interest in a story for that contest, anyway.

Of course, I could try a reluctance/non-consent about being tied down and covered in chocolate . . .

Good morning! :)

I really do need to get some reading done. I bet there are a million more since the last time I looked, lol.

Hope they're all doing good! :)

My draft entry, another Laundry Tale, is stalled.

I think that Og's been too busy on other things and with three entries from him, one from me might be de trop.

Jeanne

PS. Og is pleased. He's had a letter from the Head of Research at the Chateau of Versailles thanking him for some donations of ancient documents about the French Revolution. He's also bought, at considerable expense in Euros, an annual pass to visit the Chateau. It shows his picture - I'm surprised that wasn't enough to get him barred for life!

Og can be in Paris by car in about five hours from home including the ferry crossing. He could get there even quicker by train through the Channel Tunnel.

Now if only he'd let me write a story set in France? I'd like that.

Well has anyone here read my second contest entry...and can they tell me why it was so much crap? I mean I thought it was short and sweet...but I guess not.

I'll give it a read switchy, but I warn you I can be biased as I LOVED your first story and I also love short and sweet!

So far, I have only twenty votes and a score just over 4.00. I will be glad when the Hoover does its thing, so I can see what it should be. I have at least two one-bombs and maybe as many as four.

When the votes trickle in so slowly and I check often enough, I can get a good idea of what each vote is.

Off topic.. but Box, where are your nanas!?!? lol. :p
