The wait is one... mine has only been in about 30 hours or so (but who's counting) and I never had a story approved in much less than a week.

Actually to just wade through the material that we send them must be a massive chore and getting it done in any period is amazing.. Laurel is to be commended.

As to my own ventures.. only kidding that it's really bad.. its not.. it's only a little bad.

Can't wait to read yours and EL's and all the rest though.

That is a very long time for contest entries. They do usually post within a day or so.

Me again here to pester anyone who will listen. I mentioned this in an earlier post but was hoping maybe someone would know how I could fix it! When I was reading my holiday story aloud last night, I noticed several missing words (my downfall as a writer!). I've gone through now and fixed them. Is there any way to send the corrections in? I'm still waiting (like everyone) for the story to post. Just as a side note, Rumple was kind enough to tell me how I could do it if I had cut and pasted the story in, but I uploaded it from my computer. Seems to throw a wrench in things...

logophile -im sorry i'm not sure how you do it when you upload....i would guess putting a note that the upladed story is nfact an edited version of the one on already would be the way to go...

The only way you can do it is by submitting again, and sadly this will probably mean it slips down the queue again.

You have two options:

1) Wait until the story has posted, then resubmit the story by copy and pasting the new version with the additional words into the form (this is by far the quickest way to get a story posted). In the "Title" field, after the title put the word "Edited". Then, in the authors notes field, again state that it is a holiday comp story, and it is an edited version of one earlier submitted.

2) Do all of the above now, before it gets posted - bearing in mind the story will slip down the queue.

You have to weigh up 1) against 2). Do you want the story posted ASAP, so that you can start acruing reads and votes? Or do you want the story to wait because you feel the lacking words are detremental and will probably get you lower votes?

Sorry there's no simple way.

I think you've made the right decision - you've waited this long, why start over?

I noticed a couple of small errors in my story earlier this evening (after I'd submitted it), so I'll be doing the same as you. Bit of a pain, but at least it means the more polished version of the story will be there eventually.

In the past, Laurel has been very quick about swapping out stories. During the last contest, my story showed up with some formatting snags (several paragraphs were lumped together). My new copy appeared the day after it was submitted.

Of course, it doesn't usually take this long for stories to be posted so all bets are off.
