Winter Holiday Contest - the support thread

Og,

I'm cogitating about doing one more, a group sex, four couples in a cabin deal.

--

ET,

If asked to select a category for a story with any connotations of incest, the Lit folks will put it where it'll generate the least objections. Apparently, the only things Incest readers object to is not enough incest and/or incest that occurs between distant relatives. For them, the more, and the closer, the better.

Thanks for the comments and for wading through my story. The effort was appreciated (and I know wading through mine was tougher than my wading through yours).

May the holliday spirt instill the desire for more good erotic writing (or in your case non erotic if the mood so strikes) works to be posted.

Thanks to all who have submitted good stories to take my mind from the drudgery of w.... wo... wor... (damn work is a 4 letter word).

shameless plug

Having never entered one before, I fully expect this will be my finest contest effort to date.

It's called "Lipstick on a Pig" and to my surprise I have yet to be scolded for offering somewhat less than a jovial holiday tale. Cheers to one and all who take the time to read my little one page offering.

the Holiday stories...

Quite a varied lot. "Lipstick on a Pig" is my favorite so far. I hope my own entry, "The Eight Nights of Hanukkah" will be posted tomorrow. A gay story about two jewish boys...now that will be a wonder! (and I'm not even jewish!)

Hum, that could raise some very interesting theological questions. What if one of the boys is Orthodox and the other Reform? OY! :)

it's posted!

My story just got posted. Seems to read reasonably well, whether a gay male story can fly in incest remains to be seen. Sorry Rumple, no Orthodox vs. Reform theme. Some would feel they both need to be "reformed".....LOL!

Last place rules

Last Place Contest...
Rules for Last Place contest.
****

Order for coming last:

Lowest voted rating for a genuine attempt at a story multiplied by number of votes if less than 25 divided by 25.

So - if rating is 3.00 but only 12 votes the score would be

3.00 x 12 / 25 = 1.44

If rating is 3.00 but more than 25 votes, the rating stays the same.

I suggest ignoring number of reads except as a tie breaker when least number of reads would *win*.
****

No one appeared to claim a lower score than mine for the Halloween Contest so I 'won' that last place contest.

Og

Edited for PS: My 'Dinner with Friends' is rated at 3.88 with 81 votes and 20,700 views.
As Sack pointed out, I may be guilty of sharp practice by making the sex happen off-stage and not submitting the story as non-erotic. My readers have to use their imagination to get the sex.

So what exactly was your lowest score?

In any case, I think some sort of Horrible Mention should be set up for least views and/or least number of votes per view.

Without doing the math, I believe I might then be in the running for some form of Also-Barely-Ran prize.

Phantom of the Rush Hour did squeak by with a very pale H at 4.59, but it did so garnering only 5,969 {read/view}s TO DATE and a scant 32 votes!

Further, with the exception of Miranda the Witch, my title was far more indicative of Halloween than any of your other many entries.

I request a review.

Work, work, work, work, work. It's just reach and get it around here Cookie. :)

Burly, I like your idea of a Horrible Mention category.

As for me, I think the scoring for the winning story should be a simple count of the 1 bombs.

The most 1 bombs is the winner... the question is.. should it be the winner for the worst story? Or should that be considered the winning story?

Cookie

My condolences in advance if you are planning to wade through my story.

I look foreward to seeing yours.

Damn.. starting to sound like a juvinile game... you show me yours and I'll show you mine!!!

OK, Burley, but I still think I win:

Absorbed: Rated 4.30, Votes 23, Views 4606.[3.96]
Miranda the Witch: Rated 4.71, Votes 21, Views 2499.[4.33]
Morose Monk: Rated 3.93, Votes 27, Views 4323.
Sister Nun (Incest): Rated 4.34, Votes 122, Views 47540.
Women in White: Rated 4.37, Votes 30, Views 7825.

Calculated scores for Absorbed and Miranda shown in [].

All five of my stories score lower than yours as at today. Only two had more views; only one had more votes.

Og the last place expert.

I read yours dreampilot, and I'll show you mine soon. I hope, it's taking awhile to write.

I read sirhugs' story, Virtual_Burlesque, Erotica_Writings, and Jo Ko's. I'm whittling them down...;)

I wasn't going to post one, since Nano was going on, but I have an idea, sudden inspiration, when is the deadline?

Colly's stories.......

I've been so impressed with Colly's stories over the years, I decided to dedicate my Holiday Season story to her, The Eight Nights of Hanukkah. Nope, I'm not jewish, and the names came right out of my local phone book!! This one is doing reasonably well in the Incest/Taboo category, although I would have preferred it in Gay Male. What did you think, Colly? Extremely different than your style, yet would not have been possible without your inspiration!

A very humble Sack....

A very good story it is, too.

thanks, Carson!

This is the first story I have written where I was crying so hard at the end I couldn't even see the computer screen!! Usually my stories don't move me at all, so this is definitely unexplored territory for me..... Have tried to vote and PC (where possible) on every Holiday Story so far, if I've missed yours, please let me know!

You don't think Calvin & Hobbes is DEEP!
Nope. I've got it on good authority that for deep, Colly turns to Cathy.

Sack: I done voted fer ye (well, actually for your Literotica Winter Holiday Writing Contest 2004 entry) and left a PC.

I am in the process of submitting several chapters of a story I call 'Picture Imperfect Christmas.' It is a little different from my usual style and I hope reflects the comments to 'Old Coats,' my other submission.

There will be five chapters and it may be a bit long to read. I am soliciting USEFUL comments. TIA.

Imp,

Being new to Lit and AH, i haven't any feedback yet. From what i understand there are a lot of useless feedback out there. One wonders why someone even bothers to write if they can't provided helpful feedback.

As for you non-erotic story i thought it was well written and very creative. I LIKED it and therefore don't understand that feedback.

Fairysong(Aine)

Fairy

I don't think there is such a thing as insignificant feedback, there is only feedback with which we might take issue.

I don't agree with all the feedback, but I accept it. You just have to realize you can't please all the people all the time and leave it at that.

I always answer all of mine (or at least try to). My only problem is that the really scathing stuff that I might learn from, always comes from un named sources.

The pats on the back (from which you can't learn much) comes from the ones who leave their names.
