World of Sardon

"Assassin, you know not who you speak with," I say, approaching. "I am Maximus Prime, God of Knowledge and Time."

I smile and remember that I wasn't a very nice God.

"Guess what, assassin? I know that it's your time..."

No, I was never nice -- not at all...

"I fear no god or man." Dorin said cooly. "Your priestess is dying, godling, which makes you weaker, doesn't it?"

Dorin leaped with Kallisto well out of Maximus' reach and gave him a taunting smile.

"At least I'll have one gift to bring to my Lady..."

"Maximus!" Kallisto snapped, she had his attention. "You're not regenerated... Go..." she said. "Please..." She pleaded. "If I die it matters not... but you... we have no one else if you perish..." She sounded slightly angry.

"Go!" She yelled as more and more of the army gathered. "I'll be fine..." She was lying... she was sure they would kill her. "Go Falling!" She growled.

Dorin's leather-clad hand came over her mouth, as Sardonica's men rushed in. The city burned around them now, and Dorin disappeared with the changling in their midst.

Kallisto felt that hand wrap around her mouth and she soon disappeared along with the man who was holding her.

This was not good...

Sardonica stood before her soldier's starin at the man who was once a great god but was now nothing more than a simple mortal with a few abilities. "Oh brother... What has become of you..." She said as if it was just a sad thing to see... not that she hadn't provoked it.

Dorin

Kallisto felt that hand wrap around her mouth and she soon disappeared along with the man who was holding her.

This was not good... .

Dorin looked down at the young woman who was slowly being poisioned. If she were dead, then she couldn't be used as leverage against the remaining rebels...

He ran with her and bounded down a ravine out of sight of the battle that still raged in the distance. There was a cave there at the bottom and took the young woman inside. Dorin pulled out a tiny vial, laid her down, and poured the bitter stuff down her throat... There was very little that could counter this aside from magic and this particular, rare brew of his own making...

Kallisto could feel the poison working slowly through her veins. She closed her eyes and wondered if she was going to have to suffer. She had always hoped to die in the midst of battle... not be forced to die some silly death like this. But then there was this vial and some bitter medicine. She coughed and kept it down but she wasn't sure that she should have.

He hand moved to her cut throat and stared up at the man above her.

"Once I have my strength back..." She said softly. "I'll kill you..." She threatened. She was still sure that she was dying.

"Hardly, child." Dorin smirked. "You'll live now. You'll be weak for a while..."

"How weak?" She asked... she was finding that it was hard to move. She felt as if so much of her strength had been stolen from her. Oh this was so bad.

"How long?" She asked.

That skinny-ass bitch Dorin was right. With Kallisto dying, I feel my own strength waning. With Kallisto's death, mine will soon follow.

Well, I won't give Sardonica the satisfaction of killing me. Perhaps I should just kill myself?

With that thought in mind, I charge the other assassins. They'll kill me, but I'll die with the satisfaction of taking some of them with me. Also, I might prove enough of a diversion to allow the others to escape.

I feel multiple arrows hit me. I tear out two of them, and use them as weapons when I slam into one assassin, and then another.

I hear the sound of metal blades scraping against scabbards as the other assassins unsheathe their weapons for combat in close quarters.

A few final thoughts flash through my mind as my life ends.

Lucifine, the IceWoman; I hope she finds happiness and love.

Kallisto the Wolfgirl; I hope she gets her revenge.

One thing I can say about my little sister Sardonica -- she knew how to find good help. That Dorin guy got the job done. I hope they both get their just punishments.

Maddox the elf... What an incompetent, useless, impotent fairy. No wonder the bad guys didn't take him -- no one would care.

OOC: Ouch that was harsh...

Dorin and Kallisto...

Dorin looked at the mouth of the cave and scowled--the din of battle echoed through the valley, and it was starting to snow--hard. He wanted to get to a better place with the changeling, but the strain of mist-walking with her, would likely weaken her more...

The assassin looked back at her and took off the wrap that covered the lower part of his face.

How weak?" She asked... she was finding that it was hard to move. She felt as if so much of her strength had been stolen from her. Oh this was so bad.

"How long?" She asked.

"As long as it takes."

Immediately she noted that he was not nearly as she would have expected. She was looking for an ugly creature that would be easy to hate but he was beautiful. She was able to get more comfortable, she could feel the feeling returning to her fingers.

"As long as it takes."

"But not before we're snowed in..." She said looking up at him. She could survive with her fur coat... but as far as she could see he was screwed... there was no way he would make it out of the cave alive....

Dorin's eyes narrowed at Kallisto. He pulled her up and slung her over his shoulder.

"If I were you, sweet, I'd keep my mouth shut." he growled

He unsheathed Scourge, who gave off enough glow and decended deeper into the cave. He hoped there'd be some warmth and maybe some dead wood to start a fire with.

The young woman squirmed weakly as he carried her down, and he smiled slightly at her struggles.

Maddox the elf... What an incompetent, useless, impotent fairy. No wonder the bad guys didn't take him -- no one would care.

A crushing cold suddenly hit Lucifine in the chest. She gasped and struggled for air as she wheeled the snow steed around. She saw Maximus face down, his mortal blood spreading out in a red pool as it sank into the snow.

Oh gods, what has he done! Oh dear gods, no!

She felt something move inside her, something terrible and powerful. Something furious. It strained to get out of her, and unbidden, ice began to form around Maximus' body.

Lucifine's eyes started to turn white as the icy block was pulled out of the skirmish by her will. The Night Mother pushed the mortal body to its limit as she commanded it to spur the horse and pull the slab behind. A trickle of bluish blood ran from Lucifine's nose as they ran deep into the forests of E'sari.

Maddox felt Lucifine's body go slack, and suddenly the horse stopped. Lucifine grew weaker and weaker with the Night Mother's possession and the snow horse started to fall apart. The elf jumped down with Lucifine, but it was the Night Mother who pushed him away.

The goddess stumbled towards the ice encased body of Maximus, and a possessed Lucifine fell to her knees.

"Beloved..." the Night Mother uttered as she wept cold tears.

Suddenly, Lucifine's back arched sharply and she screamed as bluish blood seeped through the linen of her shirt where the Shard had been pushed into her chest.

The Korinthian woman collapsed onto the block of ice that contained Maximus. Her body shook uncontrollably...

Kallisto... Maximus... Lucifine thought weakly. gone--all gone...

Her body finally gave out, and there was darkness...

She let out a loud huff as she was suddenly slung over his shoulder. She was praying to all the gods that she knew that her skirt would stay down. Now that would be a tragedy. She struggled as he spoke but she had the strangest feeling that he found her fighting amusing. Bastard....

"there won't be any wood in here..." She said softly. "Can't you hear the water dripping... There's probably lots of water in the back of this cave..." And it was getting colder and colder.

"Don't be stupid... Sit down and try to keep yourself warm..." Her commands seemed to fall on deaf ears.

Maddox watched everything and was surprised when she passed out. He was at her side almost immediately. He touched her cold body and knew immediately that this was not Lucifine. He stared at the woman there.

"What did you do to Lucifine?" He asked.

Dorin heard the water drip. The changeling was right--it was getting colder down here. He sighed, annoyed at the prospect of being snowed in and that the young woman was right.

He sat her down abruptly next to the small, underground pool.

"Didn't I tell you to be quiet?" Dorin hissed.

He was slowly getting colder, and tried to hide the shivers that ran through him. The leather of his armor did little to keep him warm...

Lucifine's eyes fluttered opened at the sound of Maddox's voice and she sucked in air at his touch, as though she hadn't been breathing. Her mouth worked and her gloved hands scrabbled for him--she needed something to hold onto, something solid. She need him.

Visions of her last moments with Marius flooded her, and at last she understood...

"Marius..." she managed in between breaths. "Marius did this--he put the Shard in me! Oh gods, I..."

She trailed off, unable to fathom how or why he'd done it. All she knew was that it was going to get worse the longer it stayed inside.

"Yes... But I don't listen to idiots..." She growled as she finally had control of her body again. She moved away and sat in a corner changing into the large brown wolf. She stared at him for the longest time. An hour passed and he was turning blue.

She changed back into a human not at all worried about the cold. "Open your jacket..." She demanded as she pulled off her sweater. She was nearly bare underneath. She cuddled against his chest and hugged his body to hers nuzzling his neck.

"You'll live... slow down your breathing..."

Dorin grabbed Kallisto's shoulders and held her out at arm's length.

What the hell does she think she's doing? he thought. I just tried to kill her and yet...

The young woman only looked at him, defiant, and Dorin slowly took her in. She was pretty, on the verge of beautiful, especially when she was angry, and he smiled slightly at that. He took one of her soft ears between his fingers and found them as soft as the lithe body that had pressed against him a moment ago.

She's right--I won't last if we don't...

Dorin let go of her, and started to undo his light, black assassin's armor and tossed it aside. He grabbed Kallisto abruptly and pulled her against his cold chest.

"If you try anything" he whispered as his arms tightened around her, "You'll regret it, priestess..."

Dorin tried to slow his breathing, but he was too cold to focus.

She was surprised to find herself at arm's length like that. She frowned at him. She wouldn't have his blood on her hands, not like this. Kallisto's eyes fell shut slightly at his hand touching her wolfy ear. She was pulled from that small little bliss when he decided to take off the rest of his gear.

The wolf found herself pulled against him very harshly, he was ice cold to the touch. Her hands started to fight the cold back as they rubbed up and down his sides and back. He face was buried in his neck again... my he smelt good...

"Same to you assassain..." She growled.

"We should head to my cabin..." He said as he picked her up. It was starting to snow pretty damned hard. He hoped that Kallisto would be alright. For now the frozen body of Maximus was safe in a snow drift.

"We'll head to my mother's village in the morning..." He said. "She should be able to help us..."

Suddenly, he picked the changeling up and carried her over to an outcropping of flat rocks near the water. Dorin sat, and he sat Kallisto on his lap. His hands twined in her hair as she nuzzled him.

She's so warm against me... so innocent and inviting...

The scent of leather that clung to his skin mingled with the warm, sweet scent of the changeling's, and Dorin growled softly.

I mustn't think it! She's not dead--she's not!

"She's still out there..."

Lucifine saw the blood that wet Maddox's shirt.

"You shouldn't be carrying me like this--You're hurt."
