Rogue

My communicator vibrated against my hip, statling me a bit.

I slipped on a hands-free headset for it and switched the volume on.

"...its Remy, are you listening?"

"I'm here, Remy," I whispered quietly. I had the gain on the mike turned high enough my whispering wouldn't make a difference. "Where are you, Remy?"

:: He rested the communicator on his head as he waited for what seemed like ages listening to the hiss, then something came across. He heard her voice again and he sat up in his seat and pressed the button to transmit again. ::

Cher, you don't know how long dis cajun has waited to hear your voice again.

:: He let go of the buttone and waited to heard Rogue's voice again, and when she responded all of the sorrow he felt back in Paris left him as he could speak to her again. ::

Im in the air heading towards Germany....Psylocke met me in Parie and we hopped this plane. It seems that we aren't the only ones heading your way either. Ive been told that Fantomex will be dere and Cable appeared on this plane too. I sent Betsy to go see why he is going to Germany.

:: He released the button and listened to the hiss of dead air while he waited for her response. ::

Rogue

He must have gotten ahold of Psylocke's communicator, I mused as I listened to him.

"We've already landed Remy. The group, namely Wizard, lavabo-I mean Magma, Deadhand and I are approching a set of brick building. Apparently there's a lab in there."

In the distance I heard the RAT-TAT-TAT of gunfire and caught my breath. "Remy my responses may be sporatic, there's gunfire in the distance. I'm listening, sugah."

:: He listened to her talk about her team and then about a lab. He racked his brain as he tried to remember if Sinister ever worked out of Munich. Sinister had labs everywhere it seemed so it was plausible. ::

Listen, Cher, I tried ta tell you before when I was in Parie. You are in trouble real deep. Fantomex is trying to capture mutants for some new projects like dey did with Logan years ago. You are at the top of dat list.

:: He let go of the button to let her respond and tried to decide how much he would tell her if she asked him about Sinister. He was always keeping things to himself and in the end he only hurt himself. No, this time he would tell her whatever she wanted to know, but defiantly not over a communicator. That would have to wait tile they were face to face. ::

Rogue

Breath coming in pants, I switched my communicator into active mode. It would transmit everything I said as well as most of what I heard though it would also allow Remy to talk to me. More like a cell phone then a radio.

"Give me a sketch of how much trouble, Remy," I asked as I darted from the trees to cover Wizard's flank, voice quiet, urgent. "I've got you in two-way mode. That way you can hear and talk to me. Prove that I was wrong, Remy. Tell me what's going on."

I prayed I'd been wrong. That he could be truthfull with me.
That we could work something out.
That he loved me as much as I loved him still.
That we'd live to try again.

Wizard

Wizard felt more than saw Rogue come up behind him. He moved quietly, hoping he had learned enough from Logan on stealth, and almost made it into the town before a guard spotted him. He whirled, and hit the guard with a thunderbolt, effectively slamming him into a wall and knocking him unconscious. Best not to take chances, considering what they'd been through so far. He ducked into the town, and looked around, wondering suddenly if this was such a good idea considering the nervousness of the guards.

"Rogue, is it just me, or were those guards scared of something in here?"

Rogue

"I'd be scared if I was dressed like that too," I said a little flipitantly. Dead serious was just not me, at least not at the moment. "And how can you tell he's scared? You just bolted him?"

Wizard

Wizard grinned, then shook his head, pointing to the other guards running around. They seemed to be flitting from place to place, afraid and nervous. There was also the gunfire, which seemed to be random, as if they were jumping at mice.

"Let's just say I think we're the least of their worries."

Rogue

"Then thier priorities are awfully scewed," I said with a vicious smile.

Wizard

Wizard couldn't help but feel better with Rogue's cheerful demeanor. He then noticed her communicator was on.

"Are we getting help?"

::He sighed as he collected his thoughts, then pressed the transmit button.::

Dis Fantomex and Sinister were originally partners, but they had a bad falling out and now Fantomex is using Sinister's data to build his own monsters, Cher. You are da first mutant on the list because your power cloned with anyone else’s would make a powerful mutant.

::He tried to mask his concern for the situation by throwing in some humor::

'Sides if anyone is going to be putting their hands all over you it will be me first.

::He released the button and sorted through what else he knew as he waited for her to respond.::

Rogue

I shrugged. "We may or we may not, I'm waiting for an answer."

Had no plan on letting on that Remy and Psylocke were coming to play. That was assuming Cable wasn't there to slaughter the both of them or somethng equally stupid.

Rogue

I heard Remy's reply and faught not to blush. My tone was light, partly to keep secret who I spoke with and partly because I was not about to do a big naughty conversation over the com. "If that's your goal, then we'll have to have a chat or two first, but I'm not adverse. You need to get here though first."

I waited a moment before asking, voice almost silent, "Why is he so hot for me?"

Wizard

Wizard raised an eyebrow, then realized who she was talking to, and started giggling uncontrollably. Rogue definitely had a strange relationship with the Cajun thief. Wizard almost envied Gambit, but he always remembered that Rogue could never actually touch the man. He shook his head sadly, as the thought suddenly sobered him up, and he turned to study the place, before looking down at the scanner.

::He smirked as her heard her reply and imagined that she was a nice shade of red about now. Her words gave him hope though that there may still be a chance for them.::

We should be landing within the next hour or so. Once on the ground I'll use the com to track you down.

::He left the button go and looked over at Psylocke, watching her chat with Cable, then he hit the button again.::

Those talks are going to half to wait until dis mess is all straightened out I’m afraid. Or at least until we get some time to ourselves. Cher, please be careful. Wouldn't want anything to happen to you before I could get dere. I um.....I....

::He left go of the button before he could finish. He wanted so badly to say it, but he just couldnt find the words to do it now.::

Rogue

I caught a whiff of something smelling of abused flesh and death. My eyes widened at it.

Remy's stuttering made me smile. I decided to say it. I loved him, despite everything. "Love you too, sweets."

Taking a defensive stance on the ground, I nudged Wizard. "So, mighty leader-man, which building? Makes me no differnece."

Wizard looked up from the scanner, and pointed in a direction, glad Havok had programmed it for their com signals. He didn't have one yet, but he did have his satellite phone, and a few other things. He adjusted the harness, then headed into the ruins, drawing the sword on instinct. Better to be prepared, right? he asked himself.

"So, how is the Cajun? And I thought you were the leader?"

"In my time, Wizard is dead, and his death triggered an apocalypse that nearly annihilated all human life. You see, Sinister altered him. There's a bit of coding in his DNA that, upon his death, triggers the release of a nasty supervirus. If it were to get out, it would kill everything that comes into contact with it. A few survive, like Wolverine, Forge, and myself, but that's not enough. Not with the rise of the Supermutants."

It didn’t take long for Psylocke to process all he was telling her. He seemed to be exposing the truth, yet still she felt as though he was holding back on her. That was fine, all would reveal itself soon enough. The supervirus had her worried, if in fact that was true and she hadn’t heard herself on his list of survivors she now had even more reason to worry.

Rising from her seat, they would be landing soon and she wanted to buckle up again. Not to mention the tension she felt wasn’t what she needed at the moment. Gambit looked to be done his chat she wanted to give him time to speak with Rogue. That’s why he anted her communicator and whatever he needed to say was private.

“As always it’s been lovely.” Lowering her tone, she leaned over Cable for a short breath so that he could hear her words clearly. “Try anything stupid and I will personally make sure it’s the last thing you ever do. All right mate?” She was dead serious. If he did have any plans to screw with them she would make sure, he regretted. And that was a guarantee.

Walking back over to her seat, she said nothing and didn’t intend on speaking unless spoken too. For some reason she just wasn’t in her chatty mood anymore.

Cable

Cable listened to the barely contained threat in the pretty woman's voice, and shrugged, turning to look out the window. He only hoped he wasn't too late. That, and he had a personal grudge against Sinister, and the weapons to back it up. He looked at a photograph of Gambit, Wizard, and Rogue, and shook his head. Out of all the victims of Sinister, Wizard was probably the worst tragedy. He had so much going for him, and getting killed by Gambit over Rogue.... Cable wouldn't let that happen to him. He intended to make sure Gambit didn't take Wizard's life, especially since Gambit would end up being the first victim of the virus.

I shot Wizard a cool glance before going back to a defensive mode. "Gambit's fine, I suppose. Whether he'll show up or not, time will tell. And if I'm the leader, I saw we head into that building with the gratting on the windows. It looks better protected then the others. Makes sense its got more important stuff inside."

Fantomex

Listening to the commotion upstairs Fantomex glances at each person surrounding him.

He sees that their attention is focused on the sound of battle above them. Though the occupants of the precinct had believed the station to be secure it sounds as though someone has penetrated it and attacked them. Fantomex laughed to himself as he thought to himself how often the greatest threat from security comes from within.

"That....that SOUND!!!!" Fantomex screams and tugs on his ear.

"Nooo! A teleporter!" he says loudly and holsters both of his guns. Immediately after he bolts up the stairs and throws a series of grenades one following another and he grunts as they explode quickly upon whoever they struck in the room.

The strong blast can be felt by the people standing behind the barred door downstairs as well. One man realizes what Fantomex has done and screams "No! You'll kill our comrades as well!"

Unfazed Fantomex throws one more grenade that explodes with enough force to knock him back down the stairs as he tries to roll of the way.

As he falls to the floor near Storm he pulls his gun out and leaps to his feet.

A thick cloud of smoke moves from the room in which Fantomex threw the grenades into the rest of the building.

"Watch the people here. There was no way to save the others upstairs. I heard a teleportation portal collapse. If whoever caused this mess could teleport anywhere in this town then there is no place to hide. I had to destroy them quickly even if it meant killing whoever else was in the room. Storm, keep this group safe. My lungs can filter smoke and my eyes allow me to see threw it so I'll be fine. I'm going to make sure that we got them. Wait for me to return and remember, smoke rises so breathe close to the ground."

Fantomex quickly ascends the stairs and dissapears into the thick cloud.

Wolverine

The canyons of Colorado National Monument

He was alive. More alive than he had felt in the last few months. The cool wind breezing over his naked upper torso was welcomed as he hang over the edge from the canyon he just had climbed. With a final effort he ascended the last bit until he stood safely at the top. This was life and he was alive. He was Logan, also known as Wolverine.

The climb had not taken more than an hour and Logan was pleased with the result. He had left Xaviers institute for higher learning a week earlier without telling anyone where he was going. They must be used to his wanderlust by now and he left unnoticed. There was always one crizis or another so he gave them no means to find him. He needed this time alone. Just to fend for himself.

Logan knew Xavier could locate him, but he also knew Xavier would only contact him if it was absolutely necessary. He sat himself down with his legs hanging over the edge of the canyon. Complete solitude. Just how he liked it. He did not know that it wouldn´t last very long.

Wizard nodded slowly, then moved over to the building, and examined the door leading into it. It was still locked, so he went through his stuff until he found a lock picking kit, and then tried to pick the lock.

Storm watched Fantomex disappear into the smoke. She turned to the group of people who were getting upset about the loss of the people upstairs. How am I going to communicate with these people? She motioned for them to sit down. At least then she would be able to see if anyone was going to make things difficult and try to attack her. She needed to be able to see if anyone walked into the room so she opened a window and got the wind to circulate the smoke out the window or back up the stairs.

Wolverine

Grand Junction

Time to go home. It was with divided feelings Logan stepped out of the cab just outside the entrance of Walker field. The so called vacation was over. Now he was on his way back to New York and the institute. He entered the airport with his large bag sloped over his shoulder. His stetson hat was worn low, concealing his eyes.

He headed over to the reception. "One ticket to New York." He said with his dark, weathered voice. The young male receptionist flashed him a polite smile. "Will that be a one way ticket or you plan to return sir." With a grunt Logan chooses the one way ticket. "Don´t think i return here in the immediate future."

With the ticket in his hand he soon board the airplane heading for New York. No need to worry about the metal detectors now that the adamantium that used to cover his skeleton structure was removed. The detectors never noticed it but it was always in the back of his head. He slumped down in his seat, ready for the flight home.
