x men

Xavier smiled as hope entered his heart for the first time since Sinister left him.

"Godspeed, Betsy." he said.

He looked to Jean. Deep inside, he was worried but he hoped that Betsy could find the others and together could defeat those who menace them.

Rogue

With practiced ease, I slipped the plane from the hanger, throttle full over to give us enouch velocity to attain flight. Afraid I scared the hell out of a pair of agents near the hanger doors, but there was little and less to be done about it.
I had no intention of playing with the Sentinals.

Never really liked flying a plane, I mused as I got us to a cruising altitude then let Wizard take the controls. Real flight meant the wind in my hair, brushing against my body, true freedom. Not a metal tube with fins on it.

Even a pretty metal tube with fins.

With a sigh, I slipped from my chair and walked over to the fridge, pulled out a bottle of gatoraid and downed it. Grabbing a box of fajita fixings (I know there's rules about taking the plane out but El Miguay's is sooo tasty), I sat back down, devouring the left overs. Protien, some carbs and meat- what could be better?

Around mouthfulls I asked, "So, what's the plan?"

Fantomex

"What has happened? Even I do not know, but I will share what I have learned." The man says in German.

"Yesterday was fine. Normal. But at night the people went mad for no explanation. They would grab a person and infect them with the plague. You can see its mark on a person's hands, teeth, hundreds of them. So sharp they bite into your soul! I have looked into the eyes of my wife, my father and did not recognize them. You must not let them touch you. You must not let them touch you!"

A scream is heard upstairs.

Fantomex tells Storm in English what the man just said.

"They are here!!!" a voice screams from upstairs.

Fatale

"That should teach them a thing about 'impenetrable fortresses'" the teleporting mutant says as she returns to McCoy.

Wizard flew the jet with the practiced ease drilled into him by his father's pilot, Angelo. This model was newer, of course, but the controls were the same, and the handling was superb. He knew where Jubilee was supposed to be, but he figured there would be complications. As Juggernaut always said, there were ALWAYS complications. He wasn't sure he could trust Xavier's halfbrother, but the man did have some brains under that armor.

As Rogue made herself fajitas, Wizard couldn't help but suppress a chuckle. The southern belle had high metabolism, like many mutants, and always knew what she wanted. The plane dipped suddenly as he had a short memory of a vision of one of Sinister's labs, located near Jubilee's academy. As quickly as it came, it was gone, and the plane was back under control. But it left behind a location, one where they might get some answers. He looked up at Rogue, saw the look of alarm on her face, and shook his head.

"I'm ok, I just saw something from my memories."

Dead Hand, why was by this time hanging onto his seat for dear life, felt very uneasy at what had just happened. The plane had dipped, then righted. "Y'know, not all of us here can fly, teleport, or pull out a magic book to save ourselves from going splat if this thing crashes"

Rogue

"Aww, Deadhand, you really think I'd let you plummet to your squishy death?" I asked, voice light and a little teasing. Then, turning to Wizard I asked more seriously, "What do you mean, you just saw something? And are you okay to fly? Even I don't like flying at this altitude without a suit and between Deadhand and Lava boy over there, it'd be an interesting ride to the surface."

Wizard shook his head slowly. He knew the risks, but he couldn't involve his father's pilot, no matter how much the man said he owed the family. He took a few deep breaths, then set the autopilot, and turned to the others.

"I saw a lab. I think it is the one Sinister used when he experimented on me. It's in Munich." He was clearly a little shaken, but he wasn't letting that get to him.

Rogue

"Munich, lovely," I murmered with a sigh. Somethings just always seem to return to others.

"You know the location so we can find this lab of doom?"

Dead Hand cracked his knuckles and grinned beneath his mask. "A lab in Munich, y'say? Well then, I'm up for a little of the old-fashoned smash 'n' grab if you lot are"

Wizard closed his eyes, searching his memory, then took a notebook out of his backpack. He also withdrew some candy bars, tore the wrapper off one, and started eating it as he quickly drew a sign that he had seen. He hoped someone would recognize it, as he had never seen it before and couldn't read German. He finished, then passed the piece of paper around, continuing to eat the candy bar, which was almost pure sugar. He then took out his book, planning on preparing as much as necessary, should they encounter anything. He had a bad feeling about where they were going to meet Jubilee.

Rogue

I looked at the peice of paper, then turned to one of the computer terminals. A few keypunches and I had the ships translator working on the sign...

(I don't know what it reads, so will let someone else put that in)

::The plane ride from the US to France was long and boring, however it gave the Cajun time to sort all of the information and feelings out. Remy ol' boy, how do you go and get yourself into messes like dis? He had thought he was going to turn his back on the Xmen and return to the life he loved before, and he almost succeeded. However, he couldn't turn his back on the woman he loved and that is what was going to bring him back.

After leaving the plane terminal, Gambit returned to another home he owned. The life of a thief brought money and power, but usually the life also brought other problems so that the thief had to steal to live not steal to make money. He was just going to take a small break, perhaps a shower and a nap before heading back to the terminal. The plane he booked from Paris to Germany wasn't leaving for four hours, so he had the time.

Gambit hung his trench coat by the door and walked up into the master bedroom. He sat on the bed and ran his fingers through his red hair thinking. What are you going to do when you see her again? Will she even talk to you or will she just hurl you into de next country? His eyes wondered around the room and he remembered times spent in this house when he and rogue wanted to get a little quiet time alone away from the Xmen and that life. It would never last long. It was then that Gambit noticed his old communicator. He reached over on the nightstand where he kept it and turned it on. a soft hiss started to grow as the communicator came to life. Do I even attempt to contact anyone? He looked and saw that the communicator was tuned into the frequency that Havok's team used to use. That was the last team he and Rogue were on together. Gambit pushed the transmit button, cleared his throat and attempted to get in touch with the Xmen.::

Dis is Gambit, is anyone out there?

::He left go of the button and listened for any type of return. after waiting a few minutes he tried again.::

Dis is Gambit, is any Xman listening? Storm....Jean....Logan.....Rogue?

Rogue

In my earpeice my back up transmitter hissed to life, a man's voice traveling across the air. "Dis....-bit....any-... Rogue?"

I knew that voice and it made my heart clench. Standing, I walked to the back of the plain to the small sleeping quarters there for privacy. How could he have found a communicator?
I knew the line was secure- each transmitter was team coded and no other unit would pick it up. I'd kept my old one incase someone from my last team needed.

Never would I have dreamed he'd call.

"Is that you, Remy?" I asked, voice unsure as memories flooded back to me. Of me leaving him so coldly because if I wasn't cold I wouldn't have left him. I would have abandoned all reason, the X-men and my life to be with him there. Instead logic had won and I'd left him on that berg to whatever fate he could find. Apparently he'd gotten off, though how he'd gotten to where I'd left his communicator I didn't now.

Static met my call and I tried again, "Identify youself, this is Rogue."

::Gambit listened closely for any sign of someone trying to contact him in return. He was just about ready to toss the communicator aside and give it up when he heard something come back.::

Is that....*buzzing*...Remy?

::The sound of dead air returned and just as he was about to press the button to try to transmit again the voice returned this time much clearer.::

Identify yourself, This is Rogue.

::A surge of electricity jolted through his body as he heard her voice again. he pressed the button to transmit and attempted contact again.::

Rogue, Cher, dis is Gambit. I'm in Parie and need to talk to you. You are in trouble real deep girl and we need to meet up....

::Gambit left the button of the communicator go and listened to see if there would be a response, however as soon as he left go, the static sound of the airwaves started to soften until there was nothing.::

Demn, not now.....

::He slapped the side of the communicator, then pressed the transmit button in again.::

Rogue?

::Release and listen::

ROGUE!!

Rogue

I head his voice but it was in static bursts. "Ro... cher...Gambit...Par...-ble...meet up..."

My heart was doing somersaults in my chest as I fought back tears of an emotion even I could not name. "Remy, I can't understand what you're saying. I'm headed to Munich. Something about a lab. You wanna talk, find me there. I have to go, things to do before landing. I... Remy..."

I couldn't say it, despite how I wanted to, despite the fact my entire being felt split in two over it. Instead, I said, "We need your help, Remy. I need your help. There's a lab in Munich," I said as I told him the translation of the sign that Wizard had seen. "You want me, honestly this time, like I want you, find me there."

With that I snapped the com link closed, not counting on anything. My entire being screamed with the need to see him, the need to find him once more. But I had a mission to do, people to save. Survival of the body had to come before that of the heart. At least right now...

Wizard watched Rogue for a few minutes, then shook his head, sighing inwardly. He slowly turned back to the controls, putting his book away, and turned off the autopilot. They were almost there, but there was no response from the radio tower at the airport near Jubilee's academy. That was odd in itself, but he could see a lot of destruction in the nearby town. Fearing the worst, he decided to set down on an empty runway, and started their descent.

The Massachusetts Academy

It was deathly silent. Walking through the halls made her feel like a soon-to-be victim walking through an old house or mansion rather in this case. She was about to turn a corner and maniac holding a rusty butcher knife would pop out and chop her up to bits. The mansion was empty and silent. No kids running around, chatting like crazy their thoughts creeping into her mind. There was just silence.

She hated silence.

The heels of her shoes clicked against the marble floors as she searched foe Cerebro. When she reached the den, she flicked on a few lights, brightening the room. Still, the mansion had all the appeal of a haunted manor. She took a moment to laugh at herself. She was acting like a child. All she had to do was find Cerebro grab the first X-Men she saw and locate that person.

She just had to maneuver around until she found it. Which after a grueling fifteen minutes wasn’t so hard. Only watching the Professor work his magic on Cerebro once she had gotten the basics of things. Put the helmet on your head and watch the magic. He didn’t allow just anyone in with him. It was more of a presentation when she had first arrived at the Westchester mansion then just his way of being entertaining.

Inhaling a sharp breath, she placed the “helmet” over her head. On cue, lights began to dance around in front of her. They all represented a body a life…a mutant. It seemed to grow as more and more mutants were presented to her. One stood out, one she recognized very well.

“Gambit.” She whispered to herself. She could contact him. He could be of use to her locating the others. Removing the helmet, the lights retreated like a wounded animal and fade away from her sight.

“All right Cajun. Speak to me.” She hummed, closing violet eyes in an attempt to contact Gambit. If anyone could help her find the rest of the X-Men…especially Rogue it would be him. And any valuable information he had would be of great use to her. Besides, he was able to get out of sticky situations like no one else. That could come in handy. Two heads were better than one.

“Gambit, if you can hear this. It’s Psylocke. Talk back to me ASAP…” All she could do now was wait.

::An hour had passed and the Cajun laid on the bed staring at the ceiling trying to figure out what to do. You had her on the communicator, but it died before you could talk with her....now the communicator is on the floor in pieces because you lost your temper and charged it. Great just great. Why do I do things like Dis? He still had three more hours to wait for his flight to Germany. Hopefully, he would meet her there, If that was where she was heading. He started to get a slight dizzy feeling in his head, but he passed it off as him being tired. That is when he heard a voice.::

“Gambit, if you can hear this. It’s Psylocke. Talk back to me ASAP…”

::He sat up and listened for the voice once more. When it didn't come again, he laid back down on the bed and convinced himself that he needed to rest and that it was all in his head. It was then that he recognized the voice and realized that it was indeed all in his head. Betsy was attempting to get in touch with him with her telepathy. How is she doing dis? She doesn't have the powers to do it on her own. Cerebro!

::He cleared his mind of everything that was rattling around in there, then concentrated hoping that she could still hear him::

Psylocke...I can hear you, Cher. I'm in Parie waiting for a flight to Germany.

Jubilee

Evening: A dark alley in Kronach, Germany

As the shadows that enveloped them dissipate, Jubilee takes a look around to see where in the heck they were. “Kyle, where are we?” She looks up at him, his dark armor form now gone after emerging from the shadows. “Kronach, Germany,” he says. “Digital Vision produces widescreen televisions using Greystone Industries micro-engineered chips. You always say I should expand the company’s horizons more.” He smiles faintly.

She walks toward the entrance of the dead end alleyway. “That is not what I meant.” Before Jub steps out into the street Kyle pulls her back into the darkness. “Kyle!! Stop that.” She tries to pull herself out of his embrace. “Jub stop and listen.” He whispers in her ear.

“Listen to what? I could hear a pin drop it’s so quiet.”

“That’s my point. It’s too quiet.” A strong wind blew through the alley. “I have a bad feeling about this.” Jub turned & smacked him hard on his t-shirt covered chest. Then rolled her eyes when she read what it said.

“You just had to say that and wear that shirt.” A scream fills the air with sound. “So much for a romance night out on the town huh?”

...

Psylocke...I can hear you, Cher. I'm in Parie waiting for a flight to Germany.

“Thank God.” She breathed. Not wanting to warp her concentration with the questions that flooded her mind. She focused, frozen in the moment.

“Good. Listen to me. Are you heading to Germany to find the others? If so, prepare for a bit of company. I’m coming with you. I spoke with Xavier and…” Psylocke stopped herself she could explain herself when she was there with him face to face. Right now, she just wanted to get the hell out of this place and find the others.

“Details later. What airport are you at?”

Mutant Activist

Kain's secretary rang in on his office. He picked up, and listened, speaking when it was necessary. He blinked, then nodded, telling her to usher the waiting man in immediately. He knew a little something about the man. A scientific politician, brilliant man, and very wealthy. But what he was told was the more disturbing part. This man may have information that could implicate many people in the government, and also indicated that a scientist, a geneticist, was vital to a plague that might very well destroy the human race. This was the information he was waiting for, information that would eliminate the entire concept of mutant threats.

The door opened, and George Arnold Simms, father of John Simms, walked in, carrying a laptop and a series of discs, as well as computer printouts of what he had found. The look in his eyes told Kain everything he needed to know. This was a matter of his son's life. Kain picked up one of the files as George handed it to him, revealing experiments on mutants and humans, including on his son. Kain's eyes widened ever so slightly as he read through the information, and he slowly looked up. This man had risked everything to get enough evidence to convict half the chain of command in an effort to make sure mutants...indeed, to make sure the entire human race, survived.

As George left to head home, Kain reviewed everything, and decided now was the time to go public with everything. They had no choice, especially considering the arrest of several of the Xmen. And so, 4 hours after studying the information.

"Ladies and gentlemen of the press, and of the government. Four hours ago, information crossed my desk that implicates several key members of the government and military, as well as a geneticist who calls himself Sinister. Together, they are trying to engineer the destruction of all mutants. But that is not the true goal of Sinister. It has come to my attention that Sinister himself is a mutant. Furthermore, it is his intention to wipe out nearly 90 percent of the human race, using mutants who have been genetically and physically altered. The Xmen were arrested because this information made it into their hands. I will probably be arrested now too, but this information must be made public. To that extent, I have arranged the complete public disclosure of the files Sinister kept of one mutant in particular. His name is John Simms, and he has the power to generate a variety of almost magical powers."

He took a deep breath, then looked at the cameras, and continued.

"He has alien DNA. That was Sinister's findings, and he planned on using this to engineer mutants who would survive the apocalypse the government was trying to create. Sinister isn't on the side of the government. He is only on his side. And the government must be stopped. If successful in their attempts to wipe out mutantkind with a plague, they would also wipe out the human race. I say to you now, Mutants are as human as we are. They have the same emotions as we do, and they have the same blood, tears, and sweat. They should be our protectors, and our friends, and some of them try to do that. The Xmen is only one of those groups."

“Good. Listen to me. Are you heading to Germany to find the others? If so, prepare for a bit of company. I’m coming with you. I spoke with Xavier and…”

::Gambit concentrated while Betsy's voice filled his head. She was excited and nervous, he could sense that in her voice and the urgency with she spoke. He was just about to cut her off and tell her to save it when she edited herself.::

“Details later. What airport are you at?”

I'm actually at a home I own in Parie, Cher. My plane to Germany leaves in a little more than two hours from Charles de Gaulle airport. Get here right quick and we can talk on da plane...

::As the Cajun awaited her answer, he had to wonder if she could book a flight across the pond and meet him before his plane left. Tough it seemed implausible, if anyone could do it, Besty had the money and the determination to accomplish it.::

Wraith

1:14 AM Kronach, Germany

Looking down at Jube I had to smile. Her mouth quirked up in the half-smile always makes my heart beat a little faster.
" Why are you giving me a hard time about my shirt? You bought it for me."
Thats when the woman screamed somewhere nearby in the town. I moved ahead of Jubilee, assuming my armored form. I turned & picked her up. Before she could start objecting I stepped into the shadows behind us, emerging from the shadows on the rooftop.
"Sorry babe, but we were vulnerable down there. Lets get a look from up here and see whats going on."
I knew she was mad at me, but I'd rather have her angry and safe. I moved to the edge of the roof, looking around to see what I could find.

ooc: Wraiths speach is in italics because he has a very very creepy voice.

Thought it wasn't easy and a great deal of persuasion was required. Betsy Braddock had made it too Charles de Gaulle airport with little time to spare. Money had it's many advantages and one of them was the private jet she was able to board. There was no other way possible she could have made it over to Paris so quickly. The impossible was always possible for a Braddock.

I'm in the airport Gambit. Hurry up and get here before I am crushed by these rude people. Meet me at the airport entrance.

Betsy took a quick glance at her rhinestone watch, while juggling a daily newspaper under her arm. It was raining outside, causing everyone outside to rush inside like a park of hungry wolves. The jungle inside made the rain even more pleasant. Thankfully, she was prepared for such weather. A pink and white wool coat fit snuggly against her torso and the thick hood covered her forehead, protecting her hair from any rain. She didn't bring an umbrella through all the commotion she didn't think it was a necessity. She hoped he'd hurry up and he wasn't spending his leisure time sweeping everyone woman in Paris off their feet.

::After he had gotten the last bit from Betsy, Gambit decided that he had time for some sleep and a shower before going. Sleep however never came as his mind was once again racing with thoughts about the new mission and his relationship with Rogue. Seeing that it was no use, Gambit got his shower and caught a cab to Charles De Gaulle airport.

Once at the airport, Gambit went to the Airport Cafe to get some coffee and waited there until he heard from Besty again. He was sure that she would contact him as soon as she would land if not before. Between looking at the time on the wall and watching the arrivals, the Cajun was driving himself insane waiting. Finally, he caught the glimpse of someone dressed in a pink and white wool coat with the hood pulled up. Ever observant, he also saw some of the purple hair that Psylocke always wore. He left the cafe and walked over to her and just before he was going to say something to her, she contacted him.::

I'm right behind you, Cher. Welcome to Parie... Our plane leaves for Germany in a few minutes.

::He stood where he was preparing himself for any type of out lash she may give him. He was sure that word of "the trial" had made its way around the X-men as well as every mutant on earth, and was prepared for anything.::
