x men

Fantomex

"Storm? The African goddess and former thief?" Fantomex smiled to himself.

"Professor, could you ask Jean to fill her in? We will need her."

"She is doing so as we speak." The Professor answers.

Havok hears this and groans. He wonders how Xavier and Cyclops continue to hold him responsible for saving the world while they outsource the most powerful X-Men.

"Need her for what exactly?" Havok asks.

"This disk I obtained is only part of the grand plan. The moment it came in my possession I've been hunted night and day. They won't stop at anything to destroy me. But they can't just kill me. They have to get this back. You see, understanding the human genome sequence is the key to cloning. It is what Sinister was able to do that legions of the world's top geneticists only dreamed of accomplishing. Think of DNA as a giant jigsaw puzzle with a million pieces. To clone or make copies of the jigsaw puzzle you would have to copy each individual piece and then put them together. But what if you could only see the big picture, the result of all the pieces together but you couldn't identify the shape and proportions of the individual pieces that made them let alone how to bond them together? That was the obstacle to cloning. The obstacle that Sinister overcame."

Fantomex pauses and looks at Xavier sternly.

"The government's plan consists of this: The knowledge needed to make clones and the technology needed to apply that knowledge. We have the first, we have to find the second. Their next phase invovles mutants. They have targeted certain mutants as pawn and prey. We know who they have designated but we don't know why? Most importantly, we don't know how they plan to capture or use these mutants. That's why I need you Professor. I need you to assemble a team that will help me. With my resources I should be able to find who or where the government has stored this data. But alone they will overpower me. I need people around me powerful enough to stay alive until we find out how they plan to destory us and destroy their plan before they get a chance. But there's another thing."

Fantomex looks around at everyone.

"I make no apologies for my past. I am a thief, a murderer and criminal. There is no legal way to obtain the information we need. And there is no legal way to destroy it. If we are to survive the methods that we will need to employ will certainly make you outlaws. They will target you just as you target me. Everyone you assciate with or care about will be in danger. But if you don't help me, the Weapon Plus Program will destroy us all. If you wish to survive, then help me. But if you do, we won't be playing nice. Don't take too much time."

Fantomex looks at the group and waits for an answer.

Ororo smiled at the Professor’s welcome and was happy to be back. As she was walking, Jean started to fill her in on what was happening. She made her way up to her attic room and took off her shoes. She didn’t hate shoes but Ororo always preferred to go barefoot. When she walked in her plants turned towards her and she was very thankful that Jean always took such good care of them while she was away. She loved the attic room with its high ceiling and large windows. As she was changing into her uniform, she remembered that she had been thinking about putting in a few skylights. Even though Nightcrawler was covering for her, she probably wouldn’t get around to adding skylights during this stay.

She had heard nothing about the attack at the supermarket while she was on the plane, but the taxi driver had talked about it. She didn’t really trust Fantomex but did believe that Sinister had to be stopped. She could feel how hurt Jean still was as Jean told her about what Sinister was doing. Going over what Jean had told her about what had happened, Storm turned her thoughts to the X-men. Rogue looked like she was becoming more of a leader. She has come a long way. She was happy that they let Wizard join the X-men on a mission and was proud that he worked so well in the group. He needs to monitor his body more and he will be a great asset. She was a little worried that he had seemed to take such a liking to Dead Hand. Though Dead Hand did step up when he was needed, maybe having a connection with the boy will keep him in line. She wouldn’t go so far as to think mentoring would be good but she thought having him working with Wizard would be.
Havok is the same happy-go-lucky as ever. He tries so hard to prove himself but he ends up working against himself.

When it comes down to the question about the Weapon Plus Project, Ororo agreed that it must be stopped. What will be the cost if we do nothing? How far can we trust Fantomex? She believed that they needed to have a look at the disk he has before they fully commit themselves. She made her way down to the danger room, hoping that Jean could council her on what her concerns were and her analysis of the others.

She walked into the danger room smiling at the familiar faces and was glad to be back with her family regardless of what was going on.

Rogue

At the mention of my name poping up on this report I shrugged, stating "Misguided youth and all that."

I felt a deep pit of dismay inside me though. If cloned, what could an army of clones with my powers accomplish? Prolonged contact with any mutant, no matter how alpha, would drain all thier energy and powers perminantly. Miss Marvel could attest to that, I thought ruefully.

I waited for Fontamex to finish before giving my response. "I have been an outlaw before, if the name wasn't a tip off. For a good cause, and getting rid of Sinister is a good one, I'm game for it again."

The sword on Wizard's back flashed slightly, almost imperceptibly. With it came a warm, comforting feeling, but also a rage, as if the sword itself were pissed off at what Sinister were doing. He staggered under the weight of that feeling, almost falling to his knees. Just as quickly, however, the feeling vanished, and left him with the certainty that one way or another, Sinister must be destroyed. He wasn't sure how, though. He looked to the Professor, wondering if the old man had felt the same feelings that had washed over him.

He then turned to look at the others in the room, and shook his head. He figured there was something they needed to know, and walked slowly over to Rogue. Before anyone could stop him, he reached out, and gently touched her cheek, with his bare hands, revealing that her powers had no effect on him.

::An alley cat moves from a pile of boxes stacked at the back door of a resturante into a opened trash can looking for a bite to eat. After searching for a few minutes, the cat emerges from the reffuse with a half eaten chicken leg that on of the patrons didnt finish. However before the cat could enjoy the meal, it was shooed away as the chef of the establishment swats it away with a broom.::

Damn cats, always in the garbage...

::Before the man can swing again, the cat grabs its meal and runs deeper into the alley. The chef sighs, then something causes the hair on the back of his neck to stand on end. A odd feeling of being watched rushes over him and he grips the handle of his broom tightly. Eyes look from left to right then back once more, but nothing could be seen. Knowing that the alleyways in New Orleans are the breeding ground for the underworld of teh city, the chef quickly gets back inside the resturante and closes the door behind him.

The door had only been closed a moment before two hooded figures emerge from behind a dumpster and headed to the other end of the alley where they stop at a steel door. One knock followed by three more opens a slide door eye level with the two figures. Muffled words were spoken and the door opened. The two figures entered the building and the steel door was closed behind them.

In a chamber far below the dark cobblestone streets of the French Quarter, two councils meet and discuss an otlaw that should have stayed away from New Orleans.::

Its true then? Remy Lebeau is back in New Orleans?

We've two men looking now to make sure it is him. They should be returning at any moment to report.

:: A large table was centered in the underground chamber and torches in the corners of the room gave what flickering light they could. Two men armed with crossbows stood by the only entrance of the room as six others sat at the table. A special meeting of two guilds was called into session the moment the streets started whispering about Remy Lebeau's return to the big easy.::

If it is him you know what has to be done...He's been told time and time again that he is to stay out of the city and he still doesnt listen. Family or not, Remy Lebeau must be made an example....

::The guards move out into the hallway as they hear footsteps in the hallway beyond, and with bows raised, they meet the incoming figures. Once everything checks out, the two men are allowed to enter the room.::

Well? Is it Lebeau?

The T'ief is back and has returned to his home on River Road.

Have we gotten word back if the break in at the warehouse had his MO?

Yes, the lock was destroyed as if a bomb was set inside it. We all know what evidence his mutant powers leave.

Put the word out to both guilds. Remy Lebeau is to be killed on sight.

"Ha an army of power suckers gese scary thought" he thought of all the rouges hugging him in the center of a field not skin contact though..."I still don't understand why we can't just destroy the disk...or do they have copys?" "Turning to see the hot mamasita called Storm walk in "aaa so the rainmakers back." Waiting for a laugh. Hearing crikits in the distance "Sorry I am not that funny of guy...now bakc to this siniter plot HA you guys get that one comic glory. So knowing Sinister if he had the choice he would kill us all... don't you get it HE is going to clone us if he can get to us" which would meen the most logical thing to do would be...to attack here and get us" he paused letting it be as dramatic as possible.

"Correct me Professor but is there not a good handfull of kids going to this school...you would not want to put them in danger now would you" aaaa the chilren think of the CHILDREN always works with the pussys never time to think about kicking ass and thinking logicaly "OH NO WE CAN"T KILL THE GUY WHO HAS KILLED and tried TO KILL A HUNDRED MUTANTS OR SO NO LETS SEE IF WE CAN GET THE ASSHOLE ALIVE" twits Mamga thought as he put his sweat shirt on but left the hod down...

"If I had the choice I'd burn his eyes out...what the hell was that" as a rumbling sound came from outside...

OOC DUN DUN DUUUUN sorry

:: Dinner had been wonderful, in truth there really wasn't anything in the world like some creole cooking. Full and content, Remy walked along Bourbon street once more enjoying the crowds and the sights. After stopping and watching a magician on one corner and tossing some coins into his hat after his act, Remy walked on deciding that getting some sleep before catching the early morning flight to Paris, France. Though he loved this dear city, he knew deep down inside it wasn't his any longer.

Perhaps you can settle down in Parie.

Gambit opened the gate to his River Road Manor and stepped within the courtyard. Once again he stopped and looked over the beautiful manor as the moonlight caressed it. He slipped his hand into his trench coat and pulled out a pack of cigarettes, after taking one from the pack and slipping it between his lips, he lit it from a lighter the flame making his face glow for a moment. He tucked the pack and lighter back into his coat, then exhaled some smoke.

Dis place has too many skeletons in the closets. Too many reminders about my past.

He climbed the stairs leading to the porch and then opened one of the tall oak doors of the manor and stepped within. He looked out through the windows of the door seeing if anyone was following him, then he turned around.::

I was wondering when you were going to come for me... I actually expected you to be here sooner.

::Three men in masks and carrying pipes stepped out from various shadows of the hall. They had Gambit surrounded. These weren't Assassins as he had expected but thieves from his own guild.::

You were warned to stay out of New Orleans, Remy Lebeau. Now you have to pay de price for your insolence.

::Gambit lifted his hands showing them that he was unarmed and shrugged.::

I was going to be gone by tomorrow morning, but seeing as you are here I guess I could be dead by dawn eh?

I hope you said your prayers to Da Saints, Lebeau.

::The three men moved in all at once, but the one on Gambit's left moved in first. Unfortunately for them, the men were not attacking a tourist, they were attacking one of their own, and a mutant at that. After dodging the swing from the first thief, Gambit quickly retrieved his staff from within his coat, extended it and disarmed the first man before sweeping his feet from beneath him. Before Gambit could stand fully, he had to dodge and roll away from the other two as they came to save their fallen brother. Staff met pole as Gambit fended off blow after blow from the thieves. Taking advantage of one of them being off balance, Gambit buried his staff into the man's belly and then hurled him through the oak doors of the manor, then doors bursting open under the weight and force of the man hitting them. He then wrapped his Staff around the neck of one of the remaining thieves and held him in bay while he used his mutant power, the charge erupting from his eyes and engulfing a vase of flowers Gambit lifted from a nearby table. He hurled the vase between the two other thieves, the blast hurling them through the air and landing hard in the manor's courtyard.::

I told you I would be gone by morning. Leave it alone for this night and you can go about maintaining the peace I sacrificed much to achieve.

::The terrified Thief watched as his two cohorts lifted their wounded bodies from the lawn and limped away from the battle. Gambit then loosened the grip on the man, lowered his staff and kicked him out of the manor. Quickly he got to his feet and pointed at the mutant.::

You have until morning to be gone, If anyone from either guild sees you after that you will have more than the likes of us to deal with.

::Gambit shook his head as he watched until the thief was well away from the manor. He looked at the destruction the battle had caused and could only sigh to himself.::

The more t'ings change the more they remain the same....

Bravo Remy, you still fight more like an Assassin than a Thief. Which are you?

I know that voice....

::Gambit reached into his coat and took out a small throwing dart. Again his eyes lit up as his mutant power erupted from them and charged the dart between his fingers.::

Professor Xavier

Suddenly the Professor's head turns toward his right as though he heard a sound that he did not expect.

"Emma" he says and begins to move his chair over to one of the War Room's communication systems.

"Yes" he says.

The group watches as he speaks on the phone.

His voice starts to lower.

"But that's not possible have you checked your international accounts......and? Speak with Miguel. Ask for his assitance. Tell me Emma, why have they done this?"

A second passes. The professor turns his eyes toward Fantomex briefly before moving his chair over to another terminal and attempts to access data. A loud beeping sound occurs and the Professor curses quietly, apparently his attempts to access the data have failed. he frantically types in more commands. Again he is rejected. Putting his hand on his chin as he tries to think, he types in some more codes. This time he audibly says "Damn!" as his action again was met with disatisfaction. He returns his gaze to the comm link.

"I see. They have covered everything. Even Hank and Moira. Emma, I want you and Kitty to come home immiediately." He looks at the group and centers his hard gaze on Fantomex as he ends the comm link.

"We have trouble." he says coldly to the group.

But his coldest words are saved for Fantomex.

He looks at the super thief and gazes into his cowl.

With a metered voice Xavier asks him

"Emma Frost has just alerted me that all of her personal and financial accounts have been frozen. She is unable to access every financial source known to belong to her. I've found that a similar method has been applied to not only myself but also Warren Worthington, Hank McCoy and even the estate of Moira Mactaggert willed to me by her death. Fantomex, just what game are you playing? Who are the people you have gotten us intangled with?"

Immeidiately after Professor Xavier finishes his statement a message beeps from the console he just left.

In Neon Green letters on the black screen the message is spelled out clearly.

"URGENT: Department of Homeland Security-Department of National Emergency request comm link"

"Shit looks like they found you haha my job has been done now" simple as pie I'll take my billion now Magma said as he ran for the door. A gigantic hulking figure moved in front of him. *Gulp "What you want tin can I can take off your helmet and burn your face off or you cand let me through" Magma heard steps in the corridor. "To bad for all the young students guess what they have planned for them EXPERIMENTS" that hit the profesor hard his face twisted. "Oh yes lets see history lesson remember the Holocaust there was a doctor...I forget his name but he eprformed experiments on the jews at concentration camps such as" he took a breath "How long jews can hold their breath under water just replace jews and mutants in this case yes" Magma smiled at how much pain he cause everyone in the room by speaking words.

He dodged under the tin can and opened the door to the study. "Shit where is the door old man" an explosion to his left and smoke came pouring out. "Green shadow" Magma shouted and a gun was tossed to him. "Bite on this" he ran backwards toward the smoke fireing an m-4.

Fantomex

Fantomex looked at the government message on screen and knew who it was from.

"Time to make acquaintances with the shadows." Fantomex thinks as he starts walking to a darkened spot of the Danger Room simulated study.

He passes Magma on his way and looks at the trance like state in her eyes.

"green shadow" he hears her utter softly as she stares into nothing.

"Man, that's wicked." Fantomex thinks as he readjusts his cowl to protect his own thoughts.

He watched as Xavier moved toward the communication terminel.

Johnny Kitano

10 miles outside of salem center

Johnny Kitano, director of the United States Department of Homeland Security waits for the man on the other side to answer the urgent call he just put out. Despite every preparation the worst scenario imaginable man have occurred. Grimly Kitano thinks how much Fantomex reminds him of AIDS. He doesn’t kill them, he weakens their defenses until even the weakest of bacteria can overwhelm and kill them.

Kitano looks to his left and sees Anna-Maria Lopez one of the countries leading criminologists and an expert at criminal psychology. He sees her standing near state of the art emotion and lie detection technology and he hopes she will be able to find all the information she needs.

The man on the other end answers and Kitano is staring into the face of Professor X.

“Good evening, Professor Xavier. My name is Johnny Kitano. I am the director of the United States Department of Homeland Security. Professor, we have evidence which suggest that you or those associated with your School have conspired with an international terrorist called Fantomex. Tonight he was involved in a battle that claimed the lives of several innocents Recently, this same individual was involved in a number of attacks on military installations that contain sensitive defense information. He also has compromised several officers in the intelligence field and used this information to gain access to classified records. Professor Xavier, this man is known to be extremely dangerous. Under executive order of the President of the United States, this office was given the authority to halt all financial activity of individuals who engage in or conspire with known terrorists Have you or anyone associated with your school had any contact with Fantomex?”

“Mr. Kitano, while I can assure you that you will hear from not only the attorneys associated with my estate, but those of my colleagues as well, I can tell you that my School does not fund terrorists.”

Johnny looks at Professor X sternly.

“Professor Xavier, in the past 2 weeks this man has been able to extort well over a million dollars from his victims. He is a master of misdirection Professor. Do not believe a word he says!”

“You will hear from my attorneys shortly.”

*END COMMUNICATION*

Johnny Kitano stares at the dark screen. He looks to his team of psychologist. “Well?”

Anna-Maria speaks up. “Inconclusive. He’s good. We weren’t able to make a definitive judgment.”

Kitano leaps to his feet. He wonders how the world could have created a weapon as dangerous as him. He was a living weapon, wielding information, the most powerful weapon of all. Kitano considers the consequences of his action but he sees an opportunity and decides to take it.

“If he’s at Xavier’s we’ll get him. Rhodes, assemble your team.”

Fantomex

Enraged fantomex pulls his weapon and fires at the communication monitor.

"I thought this room was a hologram!" he screams as he shoots.

"It is" Professor Xavier says "however it also contains communication and control systems which thanks to the holographic environment you did not destroy."

For a brief moment the scenery turns transparent and Fantomex realizes he fired in the complete opposite direction of the actual monitors thought it appeared as though he fired in the exact same direction the professor left.

Slightly embarrassed he holsters his weapon.

"I didn't extort any money! I just robbed them is all." Fantomex turns to the room.

"We don't have much time. They know I'm here. How, I don't know, but I know they don't want me to let anyone else know about their plan. Professor, is there anyone, anyone who could help? You know as well as anyone if the X-Men did what was legal they would have done nothing. The world still isn't ready to accept mutants and the world governments aren't ready to stop trying to destroy them. This means there are certain jobs that require getting your hands dirty, and certain jobs that require getting your hands bloody. I know longer want sanctuary. Just tell me about the mutants listed on the disc. I will find them myself and save them before its too late. Tell me, where are the mutants who used to roam this mansion named Gambit and Jubilee?"

Wizard spoke quietly, but in the silence of the Danger Room, his voice carried to everyone. He had been tortured by Sinister, true, but he could not allow the Xmen to become the victim of the government just because of this man. He looked at the Professor as he spoke, but his words were more for Fantomex.

"We cannot cooperate, however, we have the same goal. Therefore, I say this. Sinister is the enemy of the entire planet, and though we cannot help you, we can fight him for you. I know where to find him, and I have no quarrel about destroying him. Professor, I would like to speak with the Agent you just spoke to. I wish to tell him what has been done to me by the man they seek to work with. Perhaps I can change his mind, or at the very least, get him to halt all attempts to destroy the Xmen."

He knew it was risky, but it was their only chance. As far as he knew, he was the only survivor of Sinister's experiments, and he could provide a firsthand account that would curl even the most hardened of men's toes.

Rogue

I let Wizard petission the Professor while I spoke with Fontamex.

"Jubalie's off at a training school in Germany for some reason or another," I said before sighing. "And Remy- I mean Gambit is no long with the X-men and we're no longer sure of his exact whereabouts."

I kept my body language and tone neutural but to someone with a hyperactive ability of reading people, the sorrow I felt would shine through. Part of me felt as if I had betrayed Remy, no matter what his past had been. Mine wasn't crystal clear either.

Saying none of that though, I waited, ready for action when it came, rather bored by all the chit chat.

Ororo turned to Wizard and put her hand on his shoulder to comfort him.

If the government is in on Sinister’s plan, I believe that your explanation will fall on deaf ears. It would also further implicate the Professor with Fantomex, which would give the government more of an excuse to act openly against us. I think that we need to focus on bringing in or warning the mutants that are on that list. We may need their help.

Wizard shook his head. He knew the risks, but he felt they had no choice. The government must know the truth about Sinister.

"Sinister isn't human. I don't know what he is, but I do know he's old. Far older than any of us."

I can’t imagine what Sinister did to you, but the information you have could only be helpful to us right now. If we are going to get help from the government, I don’t believe it will be from that government agent. They are moving against us. If we get help it will have to be from a member of the government that is sympathetic to our cause. If the higher levels of the government are working with Sinister then our only option would be for a mutant activist to go public with the information on that disk. That is our only solid evidence. I don’t mean to negate what you went through but any evidence you could give, Wizard, would be considered antidotal and open for debate. I don’t believe that letting the public in on what is happening now would be helpful. I believe it would escalate the problem.

Fantomex

"You still have a lot to learn kid. Did the asian guy ever mention Sinister? Did he ever mention the word cloning? How about asking back for their disk politely? He only asked for me. As far as he knows, I've come here seeking sanctuary from people who want to kill me and I don't know who. He he thought for an instant that I let all of you know what they are planning then you and your families would be in danger. This is bigger than you can imagine."

Fantomex looks toward the sky.

"They're coming. Anybody who's with me better choose fast. We're not going on any U.N missions here. Either be an X-Man and save the world on television. Or be a fighter and save the world from the real monsters. Your choice but make it fast."

Professor Xavier

Sitting in his chair Professor Xavier frowned. Deep inside himself he felt sorrow, not only because this day had come, but underneath his sorrow was guilt because he secretly wanted this to happen.

He knew that he would have to do everything in his power to protect his School and to protect the public image of his X-Men. If the public knew that the most well known mutant heroes in the world conspired with a mutant terrorist the damage it would do to the image of mutant's in the public's eyes could be disasterous.

He lowered his head and asked forgiveness for what he was about to do.

"Ororo, could you speak with me a moment." he said to the room.

Then he began to speak with his mind hoping she would understand what he was about to ask.

Wizard blinked at Ororo's words. He suddenly remembered a broadcast from earlier. He looked at the Professor, then sent a silent request for him to show them one such mutant activist, whom they had helped. He closed his eyes, hoping to provide Xavier with an image of the man. He opened his eyes slowly, then smiled, before turning to Fantomex.

"Turn the disk over to me. I know someone who we can give it to." He knew he was being a little forward with the demand, but the older Storm had given him an idea that would clear them all.

Ororo raised her hands, stepped back, and smiled.

Alright, I surrender, if you have the Professor on your side.

"A lot to learn." Fantomex thought shaking his head.

He held the disc between his fingers then snapped it.

"Do you think that the Defense Department stores its info on CD-R's!? I wanted to keep myself alive. If someone found me here and captured me I knew that I could use the disc as ransom. But if they found it on me I'm done for. I kept the disc with Eva where its safe."

Wizard blinked, then remembered something, and looked at Havok. He grinned, seeing the look on the Xman's face. "I knew you were busy doing something on that ship."

Cyclops

"Professor, let me be the first to say that I don't like this. ANY of this. Fantomex is a thief and murderer. We can't let him just walk out of here because he happens to know about other thieves and murderers. And we can't let him walk out of here with some of our students. I don't trust him to look after a single one of them. And I don't think for a second he's telling us everything. Who is on this "list"? And what are you really getting out of this? Why are you a champion of mutant rights all of a sudden?"

Havok

Havok's face grew red. He had never felt so hot in his life. He got lost on Fantomex's weird ship when he was led away from the group by weird lights.

How could Wizard call him out like that?

Heated Havok began to wonder if Wizard wanted to make Rogue look even better in the Professor's eyes. Not only did she stop Magma earlier but she took charge when he was no where to be found.

Havok's eyes narrow and he grows cold with anger.

"I agree with Scott and Ororo. Wizard wants to broadcast to the entire world that we accept information from mutant terrorists. Why don't we just tell the whole world that we work with known terrorists!?"

"You might not need to tell the whole world, but the guys who run it are on the way." fantomex says as he leaves his trance.

"Eva can see them in the distance. They are on their way."
