Anniejustagirl said:Music always takes me away from a blue mood. Or if i Really think i need to just feel the blues... music can enhance the sensation and let me wallow in it.
Concerts are even better to cheer me up. Nothing like live music. and to that end... i just locked up the shop, drove down the highway to give the line "Bob, knows where the Black Crowes Fly" to win a pair of tickets to the show this Sunday!![]()
Glad you're feeling better today privy! What CDs did you treat yourself to??
amBIguous said:Thank you privyjo. I feel lucky and thankful every day.
Have to say, I forgot about the stress relief of going to the gym. Just started going again 2 weeks ago. Been about 5 years since the last time. Used to go 6 times a week, 2 hrs a day. But then, kids came and ate my free time. Now I have to lose what my wife calls my "married belly".
rashford said:Thats exactly what I do, excersise, for some reason the combination of being alone with your thoughts and at the same time working to better yourself and your body is severly relaxing and comforting. I guess when I'm blue, I like to do something along the lines of self meditation, like excersising, just to think it through and get over it.
Cuddling with my ex-wife always did the trick also though, and your right, its romantic, sensual, and can even be erotic at times(even when your down). Love has a whole lot of perks if its real, including picking you up at any time.
Music has the same kind of tricks. With the right CD you can either lift yourself up, or bring yourself down. Its all in what you listen to.
Hope you feel good today privyjo.![]()

privyjo said:I do feel good, rashford - even better after a bit of sleep! And so, everybody is saying music is one way they deal with the blues. Do you, rashford, have a particular favorite piece of music that you listen to?

playwithlezli said:sleep, read or go for a nice long walk, or long, hot bath with bubbles and a book works too!
sometimes, i talk it through with my girlfriend, she is very good at listening and says just the right thing at the right time.

rashford said:You definatly should keep her around, its hard to find someone that knows what to say and when to say it. Must people just say random things that they think they should say instead of actually saying things at the right time to make you feel just right. Glad you have her, maybe the universe isn't so cruel afterall![]()
Golden Oldies fan. But when I am blue and miss me mum will listen to Die Moldau by Smetana - was her favorite piece and she got me hooked on it. Love baroque music also - had my computer at work set to an online radio station that would play it continuously. My nieces are teaching me about the newer performers. My son - he used to write rap lyrics <shivers> - he and I definitely have different taste in music!rashford said:Well it really depends on how deep of a demure mood I'm in. If its a particulairly dark and moody one, then probably Etta James's "At Last"(I know its kind of a sad choice, but for some reason it just gets me feeling better). For any other mood I choose a rather wierd choice I think. Classical Music. It allows me to just sit down, focus, and meditate I guess. And since thinking usually allows me to find out why I may be sad, and work through it with thoughts. For some reason, the classical music just helps out a whole lot.
How about you? I know you just recently bought a bunch of CD's, so whats your favorite piece or type?![]()
playwithlezli said:Honey, you are SO right! She often reminds me that all the shit we went through separately, made us the people we are today, that we are ready for each other and that we deserve each other! Every day, we fall in love a little bit more-it's delicious!

privyjo said:hm, well, he doesn't write it anymore (i don't think) but it is his choice of music! the word my ex-partner (she was black) used to descirbe my son was "wigger". A "wannabe wigger". "ghetto fabulous" - hadn't heard that one before!
thanks - maybe i am not such an idiot about music as i want to think!
Well - no blue feeling here! Congratulations, Tymeless!Tymeless said:doing pretty good won 10 bucks at the boat considering i didn't lose anything i'm happy!
How long have you been riding Blue, Human_Male? Might want to stop and take a rest. Maybe.human_male said:I try and ride it out. It's taking a long time I've noticed.
rashford said:Im glad you have her, my ex-wife was very similair to that, but we just recently seperated. She does accept me exactly for who I am though, bisexual or not, for better or worse. Hopefully she will fix her own problems so we can be together again. She refused my help for reasons unknown to me, so heres hoping.
And im sure having her around and her be the way she is, isn't the only thing thats delicious is it?![]()
