Day 7: A song that deserves more credit
Made the decision to go with Bright Eyes for this one because I think, in general, the band deserves more credit. Picking a specific song was not easy.
Sorry if I’ve told this story before…
in college I frequented a bar and had a really lovely friendship/flirtationship with the bartender. He had such a good taste in music. When the bar was slow, specifically Tuesday evenings, we’d listen to and discuss music that the townies wouldn’t like. He wasn’t familiar with Bright Eyes and wanted me to introduce him. I said I couldn’t just recommend one song or album. He told me to make him a mixtape. It was near impossible to pick. I ended up making 3 mixes. The final one I named “Third Stringers Are Still Pros”

I don’t remember which mix this song was on. It’s good though.

Bright Eyes - Shell Games

Day 10: A song that makes a statement

I had a specific song in mind that I was going to post for this prompt, but I decided against going in a political direction today.
Instead, I’ll throw it back to my high school years. Driving around town with my bestie, smoking a blunt, and emphatically singing along to every word.

Say Anything - Admit It!!!

Day 11: A song that is angsty

I don't think there's any band that even comes close to the Smiths when talking about angst.

Morrissey is draped in it, it coats his skin and drips on the floor like tar.
It starts as a puddle around him, but it grows and grows until he's drowning;
his cries for help make the most beautiful music.

The Smiths - Please, please, please, let me get what I want

Get out of my head on this one (goes to look for back up Smiths songs)

Day 11: A song that is angsty

Angsty music isn't usually something I seek out. I try not to dwell, better for me to just put on something fun. So I find myself going with a silly sort of angst from the only vaguely emo album I really liked. Maybe it had something to do with teenage me really digging Brendan's vibe in this video. Certainly not the weirdest crush I've ever had.
