Day 19: A song from a band that you haven’t seen live but want to (alive)

The Junior League - Hart Island
Tricky one as there's not many bands around now that i like and haven't seen - a quick scan of my iTunes and saw these guys. Doubt they'll make it over to the UK, so i may never see them in concert.

I want to see Cyndi Lauper SO. Badly. And she is coming here in concert next week. I’m still trying to figure out a way that I can go to the show.
“Girls Just Wanna Have Fun” was the first album I remember buying for myself. She was the first artist I remember fawning over and crying over… there is just something about her that is magnetic and magic. I just love her.

I've been fortunate that I've been able to see most of my favorite bands (the ones still alive and kicking, anyway). But there are a few that don't tour as much or are local to other parts of the world. Steam Powered Giraffe would probably be a very fun show if they ever came around this way.

This is one of my all-time favorite music videos! It's got this contemporary fantasy vibe that I'm sure @UnquietDreams would appreciate 🥰 I would love to catch them live, as the Goblin is with them on stage and acts as a hype-man for the band; it looks like everyone is having so much fun!

Also, who doesn't love seeing Kayden Kross as a Scream Queen 😍 And a special guest appearance by Jon LaJoie as the bartender!

Nekrogoblikon - No One Survives

Don't be like Brad.
All my goblin-bros hate Brad.

The Kills are one of my favourite bands and I really want to see them live. They were going to play at Splendour in the Grass this year, but the festival got cancelled. So, it’s still on my bucket list.
This is their cover of Saul Williams’ song from his self-titled second album in 2004.
Personally, I much prefer The Kills version.

Broken Bells is a “supergroup” made up of Danger Mouse and the guy from the shins. I’m guessing they are probably more dedicated to their own individual projects and then to spend much time touring. I would love to see them.

On another note, I’m about to check one off my list - seeing Fontaines DC tomorrow night in Philly.

Day 19: A song from a band you haven’t seen live but want to (alive)

It's funny, I can only remember one instance of me thinking I've wanted to see a band live. Going to concerts has just happened when it happened and was always wonderful. I've been to mainly smaller, intimate venues with bands who aren't always mainstream. They may become that way later (Wolfmother, Mumford and Sons, and Awolnation come to me as those kinds of shows) and others definitely should be. The big arena shows are kinda too much for me. I saw Mumford and Sons at both a venue with only 50 people in attendance and another stadium show that had 15,000. Both were amazing in their own ways. Loved the small setting so much better.

Anyways. The Whitlams are the only band I've wanted to see live. I imagine their shows would evoke that feeling that kind of intimacy I love.

I’ve seen a lot of shows and there are still so many artists I’d love to see live! Slowly but surely checking them off the list.

I was originally going to post one of their older songs from when I first fell in love with them, but I’m gonna post their newest song from this year because they’ve still got it!

I’m with you. Smaller venues are def best. Some of our better ones her interest closed during covid and beer reopened.

The other things that has happened (at least in the US) is the Ticketmaster stranglehold and ticket bots making ALL tickets hard to get and expensive. Even for smaller shows and bands. It blows and I miss the days you didn’t even need tickets - you just showed up, plunked down your cash and got in.

First time I saw me first and the gimme gimmes was in 2011 or so. Got out of the army and thought I’d just show up. Nope. You needed to buy tix and it was sold out. I lied and told them I came from a long way away. Flipped the lady $30 and got in.

But you can’t even do that anymore.

Great song by the way!

Love that. I hope you can get to the show!!!!

Day 20: A song with lyrics you misheard

Clouds - The Jayhawks
More a case of, "i have no idea what he's singing", which could be good as i love this song and would probably inflict it upon people if i could get the words right. The "winos and office girls in the park" is a cracking line though, that one i do sing (to myself usually) quite often.
