Good morning all,
Well our friend BFW ended up moving to the AH. So technically my betting pool is no longer accurate since he has just moved to another thread.
On another note my laptop died this morning. It was running slow last night and this morning it told me it was going to computer heaven. I'm happy that I married a computer genius who is fixing it by taking all the guts out and putting it back together.
Of course that means that I just los 2000 of my NaNoWrMo words from chapter 3 of my story. Thank heavens my editor has chapter 1 and 2. This also means that until my computer is fixed I can't write. Blah.
It's pouring rain here too.
Erin, I just compared your score to that of BFW. He may be sandbagging, and have stories posted but not included in his score card but, if he doesn't, you have a higher score than he has. At least, you will have after you add your 30 point bonus for filling all categories.
You may also be shortchanging yourself by not including points in the Novels/Novellas category.
You have a nice day too, Freddie.
I was just mentioning that Erin has more points on her scorecard than the total you have listed. I realize you may be sandbagging. Personally, I think of it as being unethical, and I have never done it, but there's no rule against it.
If you post another 500 stoies, poems and essays before the end of the year, you will probably win. You will definitely finish ahead of me, but you will do that even if you post nothing more.
Unethical? I didn't hear you coming to my defense when I said that it was unethical for someone to come into the contest the last minute last year and dump 200 stories on the board the last two months of the month and then not update their scorecard until January 1st. Where were you then, George when everyone was laughing at me and calling me whinner and a sore loser.
Yet, if I do what was done to me last year, then I'm unethical in your eyes.
So be it then, I'm unethical.
You know what I find unethical George? When someone writes 750-1,000 word stories with no beginning, no middle, no ending, no plot, and no character development just for the sake of earning a Survivor point on their scorecard.
MungoPark did that last year and Erin did that this year. Only, there's no rules against doing that. Now, you tell me, George, as a writer who spends much time crafting his stories, as do I, do you think that it is unethical for a writer to dump shit stories on the board just for the sake of the Survivor Contest?
I didnt' last year and I didn't this year. Most of my stories are in excess of 3,000 words with some 2,000 plus and others 4,000-5,000 words.
I tried to get the rules changed. I wanted to see stories with a 1,500 word minimum. Again, they laughed at me. Now, look at what we have. We have a writer who doesn't take writing seriously making a farce of this erotic web site, just to earn a point on her Survivor scorecard.
Had I chopped up all my stories, I'd have 1,500 points by now. Only, I didn't do that. I'm not as unethical as you think I am.
I even told Erin back in March that I found my old trunk of stories and have enough stories to rewrite and post for 4,000 points. I guess she didn't believe me. I guess she thought I was just sandbagging and playing the game. Only, I don't lie, George. That's one thing about me. I've very honest and loyal, which is why I have so many friends here who wish me well, and which is why anonymous friend sent me a check for $5,000 last year.
It pays to be the good guy. It doesn't pay to be the mean vindictive bitch. I really don't understand why you are supporting Erin, George. It makes no sense to me. You're a much better writer than she could ever hope to be, yet, here she is believing that she's going to win the Survivor Contest and thinking that I'm just going to roll over and hand her the win.
This is what I figure will happen, George, and correct me if I'm wrong. You appear to be a guy with the inside track. I figure that a group of people who don't like me will give Erin stories to post in her name. Only, I'm ready for that. I have enough stories ready to dump on the board that will twart whatever cheating effort they try to do on her behalf.
This is a thread from last year that is about the same as this thread for this year. I did say that I considered sandbagging to be unethical, but within the rules. I couldn't "defend "you or anybody else, because nobody was being attacked.

I don't know that I have ever called you a whiner (or winner?) or sore loser, but it takes considerable forbearance to refrain from doing so.
I don't know that anybody will give Erin or anybody else stories to post. I know I won't. That would be strictly against the rules and, if I did such a thing, it would be contrary to my interests because I have a chance at finishing in the money on my own. That would be one of the first five places.

I plan on lighting up the board the last two weeks of December by posting fifty stories a day for 10 days. Yeah, 500 stories. Do you think I'll win Survivor with that many stories, George, or do you still think that Erin has a chance even after posting her 30 points and her pretend novel.
All I have to say is I hope that Laurel cancels the damn contest for next year. The crap on this thread is one of the main reasons I dropped out earlier. It's not a contest anymore it's a bitter war with no resolution in sight. Lit would be better served without this stupidity.
I agree. But don't count on it. The last comment Laurel made on contests was of the "let them eat cake" variety that didn't address the questions being raised at all. It was as if she didn't even bother reading the discussions on that.
