2024 Nude Day Contest support thread

In the 22 days it's been up, it added easily another 70 followers to my total. With nearly 84,000 views, it became my all-time leader in that department. It surpassed, if you can believe it, my entry from last year's contest that is currently at nearly 83,000. I suspect it may have the legs to hit 100,000 views by this time next year, which would also be my first.
I think I also got about 70ish followers from mine, and our total counts are almost identical. And sure, I had a few stories with much more eyeballs than the 67k I got on mine but they took a few more weeks to get there.

Overall, we were definitely paid well in exposure ;)

Like I mentioned in my grumpy rant earlier in the thread, it seems like there was more malicious voting than ever before. By my count, my story lost at least 11 votes during the last few days. And it was only up for a week or so.
I lost approximately 50. ( Extrapolating that first micro sweep a couple of days ago from how many votes I'd been getting in the number of hours since I last looked ) which is far from a record. LOL Actual observed losses were only 30. It felt pretty typical to me, but I haven't managed to finish a story in time for ages.

Way back in the day ( a bit on either side of 2010, but mostly earlier ) sweeps happened almost daily during contests. Your score was a roller-coaster throughout the contest. Swept, bombed, swept, bombed, swept, bombed. It was also a lot more nerve-wracking because the vote totals were so much lower. You were not only struggling to maintain a decent score, but enough votes to even qualify outside the highest traffic categories.

I still get nerve twitches remembering those days.

I just went back and counted, and I picked up ( drumroll please... ) 69 new followers during the contest. LMAO You don't get a more perfect number for a porn story than that.

Lots of action on my two Mom stories, a little on Magic of the Wood, a little on the Fey Folk stories, a smattering of others, and quite a bit more than expected on my Ancient Peoples series.

I really need to sit down and figure out how to fix what's bugging me about the current state of the next story in that series and get it finished. Introducing Nagas which split off from the Lamias that are the featured creatures of the first story. In the English approximation of their own language, Lamias are known as the Gan, and Naga basically means not of the Gan. They also fled to Africa during the initial split, and were there at the dawn of humanity, so I'm trying to work in some of the deeper mythology in this one.

Playing off the interbreeding of early hominins to explain why/how they also interbred with all the monster species.

Congratulations to the winners and all who entered. With life being so busy at the moment, my streak of great intentions and good starts but missed contests and events continues.

Is there a list anywhere of how many votes each story got? just curious if you can see how well you did or didn't do, or how how far off from the win you were!

The best you can do is check the toplists, where the number of votes is available. Best checked not via the all-time list that's the default, but the two tabs for narrower date ranges. Those have no minimum vote total, so any story with a score high enough to be on them will show up.

The scores of the winners often start declining immediately after the announcement as well. Between "liked it, didn't love it" 4s from readers attracted by the highlighting of the winners and purely malicious voting motivated by a multitude of things, it's hard to know what the winners had at the time of the announcement unless they say so here. Add in the delay of 24 hours between updates to the toplists, and you've got even more margin for error.

Back in the day somebody would post spreadsheets with such data. Was that you?

Thanks, that helps a lot.

Well, not sure if anyone ever thanked you, but thanks for doing it. Fun to review and very impressive.
Glad it was of some value. :D I was actually working on a scraping program to automate it before my coding tank ran dry. ( as evidenced by my website being down at the moment, and bare bones even when it's up, because necessary updates to the core infrastructure rendered all my old code obsolete and non-functional. )

The source code of Lit at the time made that a bit of a pain in the ass, but I had most of it nailed down and tested before my motivation petered out. It was only automated in the sense that it grabbed the stats and filled the database without me having to manually check every story. It was push-button to start every day.

If I was going to do it the hard way nowadays, I'd probably start an alt account specifically for it. With unlimited favorites and the new story cards, a large chunk of the information would be right there in a favorites list if you added the new stories every day. All you would have to grab would be the votes from the toplists. If they ( hint, hint, powers that be! ) added search and sortation options to the favorite list, that would be even better.

Congratulations to the winners and all who participated,
Question: where do yo get the toplists?

Sadly, top stories in general. The list defaults to all time. Switch it to last thirty days to be more relevant.
For example, I checked and LesLumens' second place story is number 178 on page four of the list.
More and more I appreciate all the work and time RejectReality put in to create those spreadsheets. They were amazing.

If you go to the individual category toplists you can greatly increase your chance of finding every story. With 250 available, most will make either the 12 month or 1 month lists.

The category toplists are where I always nabbed my vote numbers from. Mine's a little easier to find on the Mature list ;) https://www.literotica.com/top/Mature-26/last-30-days/?mode=publishes

Hey is this thread dead now? Pity, Was enjoying it and getting useful information from you. I don't know if I can post one last question. It was mentioned earlier in the thread something about a rule concerning stories involving only 18+ years old. Apparently, non-conforming stories are rejected. Anybody knows the exact conditions of that rule? Coz sometimes we may have secondary <18y characters not involved in anything sexual. In some countries (France I think) relationship is allowed between 16y old teens (but not 16y with adult). Just wanted to know so I can try to adjust anything I write to conform to that rule.
In case anybody has information and this thread is now dead, you may PM me the information. Yhank you.

Hey is this thread dead now?
No threads are truly dead on this forum. Sometimes, all they need are some necromancy in the form of another post.

Anybody knows the exact conditions of that rule?
Nothing sexual involving characters below 18 years old. This is the wording that I've seen people repeat. There are many threads about borderline and edge cases; it's a repeated topic of discussion but in 99% of cases, it's very clear what it means.

This is one of those cases. <18yo characters are fine. Just keep them away from anything explicitly sexual.

Age of consent in author's jurisdiction doesn't matter; this is just a particular rule the admins came up with to reduce liability. Even in the US, most states have AoC that's around 16 or 17 yo, but the site errs on the side of conforming with the most restrictive ones.

This is a frequent issue, and one that most of us have to deal with sooner or later.

See this thread, which covers most of the salient points. Underage persons clearly exist and show up in stories, they just cannot be involved in sexual situations.

Hey Morevinila.
The only way a thread dies is if AHMod kills it, usually for bad behavior or rule breaking. Post away your questions as I'll keep checking.
Since the contest is over most of the action is now occurring in Duleigh's Summer contest thread. You'll get the same great answers over there.
It looks like theLobster and Yowser answered your question. Any further need just let me know.
Happy reading and writing!

thank you. I'm thinking of participating in the summer Contest, I have a plot in mind but I'm not sure I'll be able to finish on time to participate. It's great fun writing and just let imagination run and hoping it will find a receptive audience but then there is so much to do when you are not a native speaker.
