4th Republican presidential candidates debate tonight 11/10/15

What I learned tonight...

All presidents must be willing to put troops in harm's way if needed.

Did you happen to see the gleam in Rubio and Carly's eyes when that question was asked?

Those two would ENJOY doing that.

Trump's popularity had nothing to do with my challenge. In response to King Orfeo's claim that HRC would kick Trump's ass in a debate, you suggested that it wouldn't happen because she never says anything of substance.

Uh hua. And do you think his popularity doesn't play into who won?

Who won is a totally subjective thing man. The only point it becomes objective is when the votes are totaled.

So my challenge was to ask you to demonstrate that Trump would do any different and/or better on the same metric with some data: a simple count of substantive statements actually made during an actual debate by Trump. But that's too much like work.

He doesn't have to be substantive for his brand of appeal to work, he just has to be un PC enough to come out and say what all the republicans are thinking.

And if he can convince enough of them that he's thinking the same thing they are "Build a damn wall and fuck China to bring back M'urican jobs!"

Then HRC doesn't get to check off an easy win because the far left just doesn't like what he's got to say.

And you're right it's too much fucking work, I don't care enough to go do homework for the likes of you.

You know, back when you and I engaged on gun control and I made the effort to understand your views and actually listen, and it seemed like you did the same, you seemed like a reasonable person. This exchange voids that completely.

OH NOEZ I LOST BROWNIE POINTS WITH STRANGER NOOB ON THE FORUM THAT FUCKIN HATES ME!!

WHAT EVER SHALL I DO!!!

Christie stuck to the Priebus debate plan of attacking Hillary as opposed to attacking each other more than any of the other candidates.

yes, and look at what your great cuckold has done to Iraq ... Lybia ....

and we can't forget obama's greatest achievement by single underhandedly bringing back The Soviet Union

Fiorina scares the shit out of me. She hasn't got a hope at the nomination, thank fuck.

Trump is far from a conservative. It amazes me the nutbase loves him as they do.

The way to get places in politics is to get in front of a popular issue. For Donald Trump that popular issue is restricting immigration. In addition, he promises no cuts in Social Security and Medicare. All of this makes him popular with the white working class that has become a Republican constituency that is essential to Republican electoral victories.

Republicans love wars, but they hate to pay for them.

You are too stupid to have earned the economic interests you defend with such little skill.

Pushing Marxism as the superior alternative to EVERYTHING...another shocking assessment form KO.

Karl Marx had valid insights and made mistakes. Those who are intelligent and well educated learn from his insights and recognize his mistakes.

Those without intelligence and education reduce the complex economics and philosophy of Karl Marx to a creed that they accept or reject on faith, without understanding it.

Go get some evidence that he's liked for some other reason other than his loud mouthed antics. That shit better have some quantifiable, empirical, proof too.

Right...that's what I thought, you fucking twat.

Your use of this kind of language exposes you as one who has not emotionally matured past high school, and who academically probably never graduated.

BUSTED: Here are 7 times GOP candidates told outrageous lies during the Fox Business debate

4. Mike Huckabee, also during the early debate, claimed that only one in five migrants who went to Europe from the Middle East was “actually Syrian.” However, the former Arkansas governor was citing data from a three-month period before Syrian refugees began pouring into Europe as they fled civil war. Those refugees whose motives Huckabee questioned did, in fact, come from other war-torn countries and did not actually claim to be Syrian. Overall, Syrian refugees make up half of those who have fled this year to Europe. Bizarrely, Huckabee also claimed that only the United States was being asked to take in Syrian refugees.

5. Jeb Bush identified Islamic terrorism as the biggest threat to the U.S., although about as many Americans have been killed in the last month or so by household guns as terrorists have killed since 2001. In fact, dog bites killed more Americans last year than terrorists. Law enforcement officials say right-wing domestic terrorists pose a greater threat than Islamic terrorists.

Trump and Carson sell newspapers (or equiv. modern media) and give late night talk show hosts fodder for monologues. That is why we hear about them more than those who could maybe do the job.

They are both just the equivalent of opening standup comedian acts before the real show begins. Gives folk a laugh and gets them in the mood to appreciate a real headline act.

I take Ben Carson seriously. His ten percent flat tax appeals to affluent Republicans who will get major tax cuts.

His Protestant Fundamentalism appeals to the sixty percent of Republicans who believe in Creationism. These tend to be in the bottom half of the income distribution. Most of them will get tax increases under a ten percent flat tax. Nevertheless, they are credulous and naive. They will vote for anyone who shares or pretends to share their religious beliefs.

Looking around the world, at all the countries where things in general go as well as in the U.S., and all the countries where things in general go better than in the U.S., and all the countries where things go worse, what appears to work better than anything else is social democracy.

In covering the Debate Al-Jazz lead with:

The fight against 15: Republicans in debate oppose minimum wage hike

Fox’s Neil Cavuto, one of the night’s three moderators, led off the debate by turning to Donald Trump, positioned center stage as the leader in recent national polls, and asked if the billionaire businessman was supportive of those calling for a $15-an-hour minimum wage.

“I can't be, Neil,” said Trump, who, after mentioning his “tremendous” tax plan, added, “wages are too high.”

Cavuto confirmed with the candidate that he would not raise the minimum wage — “I would not do it,” said Trump — and the partisan audience burst into applause.

SO I did some research and found a calculation of the minimum wage in 2012 dollars. Somewhat dated but relevant.

In 1938 a Federal Minimum wage was set at $0.25 per hour. or $3.98 in 2012 bucks.

In 2012 the Min Wage was $7.25. The working man made some progress from the late depression era until recently, you'd think. If you reverse the calculation we see that inn 1938 dollars the 2012 MW was $0.42 equaling an increase of 68.5%.

Considering the productivity increase of workers is that really enough?

They followed up with:

A debate of sound and fury but not much change for GOP

Except the American people don't agree with him. To the tune of 72%.

I love it when you provide us with your massive vault of political intelligence. You and botany are the perfect GOP diet, fact free.

What's esepcially interesting is that raising the minimum wage used to just be something on the schedule averaging every two years between the thirties and eighties. It has not driven unemployment up, certain not by large amounts. Like taxes the two things are clearly not causing each other.

Which is odd since aside from being a Nazi (sorry, Jews are good, Blacks are bad. . .) Trouve is about as left wing as it gets.

Bot. . .I think Bot is actually half Irish and just likes to fight. He's more Democrat than Republican. . .kinda sorta.

Your use of this kind of language exposes you as one who has not emotionally matured past high school, and who academically probably never graduated.

You're likely right on the first point......side effect of being so fucking bad ass at life from the get go.

You'd be mistaken on the latter though, I might be an immature asshole but I'm an educated immature asshole. :D

Yep, and nobody in America wants anything to do with it.

The right thinks it's Hitler, and the left doesn't want to hear anything about how if we want a social democracy to work you have to put some band-aids on some bleeding hearts.

So back in the real world we have this country called the USA, it is a corporate oligarchy and social democracy is a pie in the sky dream right up there with the 'everything is better with no government around' libertarians. Vote Hillary!!;):D

Another interesting stat, In 1969 the MW was $1.60 equal to $9.80 in 2012, or $0.68 in '38 dollars.
1969 showed the highest MW adjusted for inflation of the whole 1938 to 2012 period.

Since then the MW has eroded.

Yep.

Now if people had stuck to Cruz's argument that we don't live in the 60's, 70's, 80's, 90's or even 2000's and the old rules don't apply anymore I'd be willing to listen. He's correct that we're watching the brick and mortar store go the way of the Dodo. If you eliminate food, drugs (mostly cus when I need painkillers I need them now not in 3-5 business days) and car stuff (for the same reason) I can't remember the last time I bought something in a store that wasn't an impulse buy. I'm a guy (I accept it when my SO, sister and mother all tell me that reading the numbers aren't the same as trying them on for women) so I can shop online. Hell for pants it's actually easier online, apparently people at my height are supposed to be a lot. . .thicker than I am. I can wait a few days longer for them to find my size in stock a lot easier than going to three different stores until I find a place with my size. Don't even get me started on entertainment stuff.

No wait I still buy books in person. Cus like to browse and the completely ignorant way that Barnes and Noble shelves books (seriously why is Star Wars science fiction but Ender's Game is Fiction? Same for Buffy vs Interview with the Vampire? Why is sci-fi a code word for ghetto?!) means I'll stumble over shit that I wouldn't if someone who had a brain organized the shelves.

That's at least a point worthy of making but not this crap.

Oh, the left wants to hear that, all right! Jeez, your ignorance is astonishing! Check out The Nation and the website of the Working Families Party if you want to know what the left thinks!

The GOP future is here

Al-Jizz says Cruz and Rubio stand the best chance for the GOP.

Republicans have shown us their future, and Democrats, if they’re smart, should be having a collective anxiety attack.

That’s the inescapable impression from the one-two punch of excellent showings by Sens. Marco Rubio and Ted Cruz in the CNBC presidential debate Wednesday night in Boulder, Colorado, and Rep. Paul Ryan’s election as speaker of the House the next day. Ryan is now second only to Vice President Joe Biden in the line of succession to the presidency, and Rubio and Cruz remain very much in the hunt for the 2016 Republican presidential nomination.

All three are in their mid-40s — a generational handoff that is a striking contrast to Democrats, with their veteran band of congressional leaders and 2016 front-runners. What looks like disarray in the GOP to some analysts could just as easily be interpreted as transition. And as we’ve seen on Capitol Hill this week, the chaotic aspects of a transition can sometimes resolve in ways that produce the best outcome for Republicans and the riskiest for Democrats.

Oh, the left wants to hear that, all right!

No they don't...they want a warm fuzzy, and that's why Sanders isn't CRUSHING HRC.

M'uricuh isn't ready for social democracy, even if the fringe left is, most prefer the corporate Oligarchy, and that's why we will probably put HRC in office .;)
